Good Morning Girls :)

Today was LIC cardio timesaver and blast off add on. I really enjoyed this workout! At first I wasn't sure about doing the blast off add on, but when I started it I found I got a second wind. I am surprised, but I've got some DOMs today: back, chest, biceps!

Tomorrow is PLB, I'm thinking of doing this with dumbells and a barbell. I get so tired of changing the weights, especially because my barbell is 15# itself. If I use dumbells, do I put them on my shoulders? or hold them straight down on the outside of my legs? Its not as easy as Cathe to change the weights. I'm not sure if its the rotation, or the weather, but this month I have been very tired, and its been really hard to get up in the morning. How about you guys?

Gin~ I posted a sample of how to use the mix and match with GS on yesterdays thread.

Marcy~ What did you do today?

Today I also did LIC cardio and the blast add on, then added Stretch Max#2 with the ball.

Deanie--I don't own a set of barbells, so I always use just dumbbells. If I see Cathe putting the barbell on her shoulder, I put the dumbbells on my shoulders. I have been tired only because I have been going to bed too late. I will really have to get it together when school starts in a few weeks.:p
I did see your post about the Mix & Match, thank you. I understand it now.:)

Marcy and Tracee--What workout did you girls do today?

Good Morning Ladies!

Today was IMAX 2 which I did on an 8" step for the whole thing. It was the first time I did it from the regular DVD instead of the Terminator and having to chapter through for all the intervals and it felt much better. I was able to finish much quicker. I was only in my zone for 36 minutes but I thought it was going to be more. The first four intervals were easy. The last six got my heart rate up. I only burned 382 calories. It used to be in the 400s for this workout. I checked my resting heart rate this morning and its down from 55 to 51. I think I would like an IMAX 4. I can't wait to do IMAX 3 next week and see how I do.

Deanie - I like the idea of mix and match but I hope it doesn't take too long. It is hard to keep up with the yoga when it's not in the rotation (I haven't done any since the rotation started so I'm actually looking forward to the recovery week.) I previewed PS Legs & Abs last night. I don't have a body bar so I guess I'll use my barbell with 3# weights on each side for a total of 16#. I guess I'll do most of it and maybe the squats and lunges without the heavy weights. Those sit-n-stands looked really tough and I saw Cathe's legs shaking. I was just thinking I actually think Cathe looks better now than during PS. I think she has a longer, leaner look now. She looked a bit too muscular back then (still looked great but she's getting better with age).

I agree about PLB with changing the weights. That's what really annoys me about these workouts. It just takes too long to change the weights and I even got the clips which makes it easier but it's still annoying. I had a little trouble sleeping the first week but I'm feeling good this week. You can hold the dumbbells either way, whatever is more comfortable. I've heard Cathe say that in the workouts although I forget which ones.

Hi ladies

Sorry I didn't check in last night! I didn't get home until 10pm and I was only able to do the P90X back and bi before my headache won out. So, I'm going to add the abs in today. I didn't get to work out this morning due to my head (it's raining and when that happens I get some horrible headaches). Does anyone else workout at 6am or earlier?

Anyway, Aug is super busy with me and school - aghhhh!!! but I love the discussions!!

Oh! I forgot, I did DM on Sunday (cause I missed Fri) and it was so hard...I had forgotten :) anyway, I found I can't do the dive bomber pushups. Something happens in my left shoulder. I think it's something with my nerve, because it causes my whole arm to ache for days. I can do reg pushups, but not dive bombers :( haha...I don't think I could do them even if I didn't have this problem!

Deanie - Glad to hear LIC was good, I have yet to do my workout today :) Keep up the good work! What are DOMs? I have to admit something...I don't have a barbell. I have weights up to 25lbs and just use those. Wish I didn't live in an apt - oh well. Do you think it matters that I don't have a barbell?

Gin - Where do you find the time to do all this??? I struggle if I have to go over an hour! You go girl!!

Marcy - I'm so excited about your workout today because I've been wanting to try terminator and IMAX2. How do they compare? What do you think of PS legs vs GS legs? Curious. Keep up that Yoga!!

Hi Cheryl!

Sorry about your headaches. Does this happen every time it rains? I work out at 6 am every morning. Today I actually started a few minutes earlier. I'm sure there are certain moves for everyone which just don't feel right. For me, it's upright rows. I just don't feel anything with them. When I started the X, I had a minor shoulder injury so they did bother me but now that it's healed, they still don't feel right and I feel like they're a waste of time for me. DOMS is delayed onset muscle soreness. You usually get it when you've done a new workout or a new exercise that hits muscles you haven't used in a while. It's okay if you don't have a barbell. Using dumbbells is fine. I haven't done PS Legs yet but just from previewing, I know I prefer GS Legs more. There is more floorwork which I like much better and there seems to be more of a variety of exercises. Most people say GS is just an updated version of PS and I guess that seems to be the case. I also like GS because it uses the resistance band.

Hi Again!

Cheryl - I forgot to answer about Terminator. These are workouts that combine Cardio & Weights, Muscle Endurance, Boot Camp and IMAX 2. IMAX Xtreme has the most cardio. The Viper seems to be more strength (lots of Muscle Endurance) and the Gauntlet is a nice mix of everything (I really like this one.) They are all long workouts - the Viper is 80 mins., the other two are 70 mins. I really liked these but I actually prefer the compilation DVD of Hardcore Extreme. I guess because I really like IMAX 3 and Low Max and then the Kick Max blasts are thrown in. As I'm writing this, I'm thinking I should drag this one out again. It's been awhile.

I need be doing Clean Max now, but am taking a break!

Marcy--I always forget to use an 8" step! I need to try it sometime. My HRM said I burned under 300 calories with LIC. Huh?!? I bought IMAX3 so I wouldn't have to muddle through HCE like you were doing with Terminator to get to IMAX2. You are talking me out of wanting PS.

Cheryl--Sorry about your headaches. I have discovered that peanut butter is a headache trigger for me and I LOVE pb! My workout this morning was just 80 min. Not too long! Remember I am not working this summer and I don't have any kids at home so I have more time. I go back to teaching in 4 1/2 weeks. In the school year I get up at 5am to workout, but in the summer it's a little more laid back. My M F running partners work though so I run with them at 5:30 am year round.

Hi Again!

Gin - Clean Max is my all-time dreaded workout. LOL!:7 I think I mentioned before with your low resting heartrate 300 might be correct. How long was the workout? Like I said earlier, I used to burn over 400 with IMAX 2 and now it's only 382 on an 8" step. I only reviewed PS Legs & Abs. I kind of knew I wouldn't care for the legs but I still have to preview the upper body ones. If I can I'll try and preview at least one of them tonight and let you know. I've been on the fence about these for awhile now. Have you ever done LIC on 8"? What always surprises me is that Low Max is a real calorie burner for me. It doesn't seem that intense at first but it kind of builds in intensity. I've always done this one on 8". I don't think I'd get such a great workout if I only did it on 6" but that's just me.

Marcy--LIC cardio + the Blast Off was 59 min. Do you really think that 280 calories could be correct? My HR was up to 165 during the blasts. Maybe so. Do you own PS and you have not done it yet? I don't think I have done any workout on 8". I really don't even think about it. I may try Low Max on an 8" next week.

I am leaving to go visit my parents tomorrow -Sat. I plan to take CK (no equip. required) BB yoga, stretch band for upper body and run 1 day.

Gin - 280 might be right. I don't find LIC that intense. I have PS VHS tapes and have not done them yet. I'm so impressed you hardly ever seem to miss your workouts no matter where you go. WTG!

Gin~ Have a great visit with your mom! I'm glad shes doing better. You should try LM and LIC on the 8". It does make a difference. I love how you workout where ever you go!:)

Marcy~ I'm glad you enjoyed doing Imax 2 from begining to end:) I agree about the mix and match. I think the first week I will do the rotation as is, the second week, with the mix and match feature, and then see which I like better (read takes less time:) ) and continue that way for the next 2 weeks. I would be surprised if you don't like PS upper body work. I agree~ I like the leanness(sp?) of Cathes body now, though she never looked bad.

Tracee~ I hope you are having a good day

Cheryl~ Sorry to hear about your headaches. Good job with DM! Don't worry about the pushups. if it hurts, its not worth doing.It is my favorite circuit. I did the total body premix on Sat. for the first time.

Thanks Marcy. I feel like you're my personal assistant, reviewing all the tapes for me and giving me your feedback! haha :)

I really appreaciate it though. As I said before, there are a lot of DVDs I don't have and want to get. I plan to wait for the new ones to come out and then look into getting some others, but I have had my eye on The Terminator/Gauntlet for a while as well as the IMAX's. I'm going for GS legs too :)

Well, I know what I'm asking for Christmas...good thing my b-day is right there too...maybe they won't mind all the double asking :)

I have always had headaches, but now it seems that the slighest change in weather sets me off. I've tried various medications, but nothing seems to work. I usually just have to take it easy and tie ice packs to my head...give me a few hours and I'm good to go!

Do you roll out of bed and workout? Maybe I'm just complaining here or maybe I'm just not adjusted to school. I am so thankful for all of you and this schedule though. Without it, I think I would have stopped, but it is the only thing I feel I can count on right now.
 
Wow 5:30am? how do you do it? aren't you tired?? You know, i always am, but then i get energy once i get out of bed and started. it's that getting out of bed. do you get more tired during the school year or am I just being a baby;( haha.
 
Thanks Deanie! I like DM too. I was soooo tired afterwards though. I thought 'girl! you need to start taking better care of yourself. you shouldn't be this tired!' haha!

Ok, last post and then I'll be done.

I'm a bit frustrated with my group at school. Everyone is doing this online and we have a project that we need to do as a group. no one was posting anything, so I decided to kinda 'take over' in a nice way. Then, one of the memebers suggested that I, along with another girl, be the 'leaders'. So we did. We developed a plan of attack, assigned roles, and set forth dates. now, one of the other girls is attacking us! Here we are trying to get the project going, cause no one is participating and when we do, we get yelled at. x( What's kinda funny in all this is that one of my books is called 'Your attitude is Showing' haha.

Sorry, I had to vent.
