Day 5 - 1 week ctx check in

Hello Brenda and Sabine,
I caught up on the check-ins for day 3 & 4. Great workouts. It must have been interval weekend!

I switched around a little and did All Step on Saturday. I wanted to give my shoulders the best chance of doing their best - not have them already sore from other work...I decided I just can't handle power 15's anymore so I switch legs half way through and a 15 becomes two power 7's.

Sunday I did Power Circuit. I really don't like kick box off the step, I feel out of balance or something. My back work went well BUT somehow during all of this I overdid something and my right quad and inner thigh are too sore. This is a repeat problem area...

But onward to today and 10-10-10. opted for this rather than KB because no abs (thought they needed a day off) and shortest ctx so I could get to work on Monday at a decent time.

Think I'll try KB tomorrow and save S&I for Thurs (I have to take Wed off, won't be home - husband is having medical procedure - not fun)

How was/will be your Monday workout??

-joy

Good Morning Joy & Sabine-
I'm going to make today just a strength day since I've been increasing my cardio, either Max Int Strength, Power Hour or Muscle Endurance (haven't done that one for a long time)... obviously I'm rewriting my days since I'm out of sequence with what I was originally going to do. I think this is how my week will work out:
Mon - strength...
Tues - Boot Camp
Wed - Step, Jump & Pump or All Step
Thurs - Max Cardio
Fri - Power Hour
Sat - off?

If I get a good workout in Thursday a.m. I won't feel so bad about Thanksgiving dinner... Saturday I not only took the day off physically but nutritionally. Bad, bad day (Chinese food and Halloween candy).

Joy - sounds like you had a really productive weekend... Take it easy on your quad/inner thigh - recurring injuries are a drag. Hope it feels better.

Hope everything goes well on Wed with your husband!

Sabine, what's your plan for today? I'm going to try to get up early Wed a.m. and get everything finished because I have a dentist appt that may take a while. The alarm went off today and I actually laughed and rolled over.

Have a good one- I'll check in later!

:)

I finished my CTX rotation on Saturday so moved on to something else today. This past week was the first time that I had done all the CTX videos as a series. I'll definitely have to go back and do that again. It was so much fun:) !

So Monday morning comes around and what a shock the body went through. Did Slow and Heavy Legs and Shoulders. Since I hadn't done this series for a while I kept my barbell at 30# and the legs were still shaking like crazy on the last sets of both squats and static lunges}( . Also stayed pretty light for all the shoulder work as that ultra slow count just gets me every time. I should try to do a 3-4 week Slow and Heavy rotation just so I can really focus on increasing my weight. But man, does it burn to do this series!

So here's my schedule for the rest of the week:

Tuesday-Christi Taylor's Still Steppin' (got this one of the Yaya's swapmeet. Can't wait to do it)
Wednesday- Slow and Heavy Chest and Back with abs.
Thursday- 5K Walk to feed the hungry early in the morning.
Friday- Slow and Heavy Biceps and Triceps with abs or off.
Saturday- StepFit
Sunday- off or Slow and Heavy Biceps Triceps with abs.

Joy- be sure to rest that injury. Is it only on the right side? Hope things go well with your husband on Wednesday.

Brenda- which strength workout did you do? I just love Muscle Endurance! When my alarm went off this morning at 4:45 a part of me wanted to laugh, turn over, and hit snooze mulitple times. But I did it! You can do it too!!!!

Have a great Monday

I just finished Max Intensity Strength. Actually I wish I would have done Muscle Endurance... the ab work was really good but I feel like I get a better workout from ME or Power Hour with the lower body. I did realize that its my chest work that's making my shoulder feel funny so I lowered my weight and it was better.

Sabine- sounds really slow & heavy! I don't have that series- what would you compare it to? OK, tomorrow I'm going to try to get up. ugh.

Joy, see you tomorrow! - have a good night girls :)

Hi Brenda,

It's really hard to compare Slow and Heavy to other series. On the one hand, the way it is described it doesn't sound that hard or that complicated (and indeed, it isn't complicated). In Legs and Shoulders you do pre exhaust sets of lunges (forward, back and side) and do either 2 or 3 sets of 8 reps for squats, static lunges, and plie squats. It's the work count that makes these workouts so intense. For the leg exercises you do 2 counts down and 6 counts up. Because you're going so slowly the burn kicks in immediately. No pre exhaust sets for the shoulders but the same slow count of 6 up and two down. By removing pretty much all momentum you really fire the muscles something wicked}( . The only other series I think comes close might be either PS or the Pyramids (I don't have the pyramids yet so I'm just going based on what others have said).

Take care of that shoulder. My right shoulder can 'pop' if I over do the weight. I doesn't hurt but I'm also not exactly thrilled to have that happen. Popping joints gross me out!

Have a nice evening! Go Giants!
