Daughters in cheerleading?

My 14 year old is trying out for Cheerleading this Thursday but the thing that scares me if she makes it they want $650.00!!!! do they ever do fundraisers for kids who can't come up with all that? she wants it so bad and I don't want to discourage her.

My supervisor here at work has 2 daughters that are into cheerleading and I've been amazed at how much it cost her to put 2 girls in cheerleading. Heck, when I was younger it was practically free! Well, not free but very inexpensive. So I feel for you. That's alot of money, however, I intend on letting my son try almost anything within reason to see what he is good at and what he loves. But then if we were not a two income family, I probably wouldn't have that choice. Not sure what your financial situation is but I would try my best to encourage her and come up with the money (easier said than done, I realize). I think this sort of thing is very good for kids (cheerleading, sports, etc). Just my .02 cents.

I agree with not wanting to discourage her. After school sports are so important for the kids. If she makes the squad, maybe your daughter could talk to the coach about doing a fund raiser. The girls could do a bake sale or something. My girls were in sports and they did fund raisers a lot.

You should see her she is so cute at it:) her kicks and jumps are amazing and they amaze all the girls so her chances might be good. She just can't do the tumbling very well though:( I don't know if that will count in the tryout. she is so tiny she would be the perfect girl for the pyramids and to throw LOL. she is only 5'1.
