Darn, my muscles did not endure Muscle Endurance!

I was feeling pretty good about my fitness gains, but this morning I did Muscle Endurance for the first time and I could NOT hang in there. :( I'm not sure if I am tired from the last few days or if I'm just not in shape for strength work. I can do Imax 2, Cardio and Weights, Boot Camp and all the Timesavers and complete the workout, but I flopped on this one. I haven't heard anyone else refer to this workout as a tough one. Is it tough or am I a wimp? :) I've never done an "all strength" workout before- well..not in the last 15 years, anyway. I guess I have a lot of room for improvement.

Amy –
I wouldn’t feel bad about not getting through it the first time. Endurance lifting is TOUGH stuff, as is good ‘ole heavy lifting. It sounds like you’ve been doing very well with your cardio endurance, but in my experience that’s not an indicator as to how well you will perform with weights. To get to fitness gains that you have right now, you had to work at it, I’m sure. It the same thing with weight training – you have to work at it. Personally, I need to have more focus and determination for my weight workouts than any other kind of workout. ME is a difficult workout – you are certainly not a wimp. I recall my first time with it, and with Power Hour… OUCH. I thought I would fall right over. Don’t give up, just keep at it and you’ll notice improvements before you know it. Good luck!

Amy, don't worry about this one session. It's just one of many that you do. Some days are better than others. Gains take time to earn, and you earn them hard, especially with Cathe.:) I do strength workouts all the time and today, while doing CTX-UB split where I use lighter weights, I fatigued so fast. I was constantly hitting the pause button to get a breather. I normally don't do this when I'm doing this workout. But today, the planets are misaligned, I guess.:) Just think... you can do these other real tough workouts so you're definitely not a wimp. There is such a thing as your body taking time to adjust to something different. Or, in my case, getting fried fast because of all the stress that has been going on in my life lately. So today wasn't a good ME day and you're feeling pretty low. There's nowhere to go from here but up, right?

Thanks, Pinky and Liz,
I haven't had a day off in about 2 weeks. I think I'll take off tomorrow and hit this workout again in a couple of days. Hopefully I'll do better next time, but you are right, building strength takes TIME! Maybe I'll reduce my weight, instead of trying to do the same amount of weight as Cathe and the gang. Anyway, I won't feel badly about it. You are right, there was a time when 27 minutes of Cardio was pushing it and now its a BREEZE.

Amy-you did great considering you have never done a total body strength workout! Not to mention, you tried to match Cathe's weights. Like the others said, just build up slowly and before you know it, you'll be doing the total tape. Enjoy the journey!
