Damage Control...Week of 2/13

Hi Girls,

I can't believe I haven't checked in today...not that i had a whole lot of down time! I am sitting here now with a color in my hair and then off to bed I go.

I think I ended up doing a run yesterday, Oh yes...and it was mixed in with CB but there wasn't as much weight work in that one as I thought.

Today's workout was 3.5 miles on the TM, 30/30 and the standing leg work of LBB. I ran out of time. I was meeting a friend for a coffee...with the boys. The rest of my day consist of training and running errands.

Laura** I am glad I could help you spend some of your money! LOL I hope you like your purchases. I don't have any of the things you ordered. I just looked and they have some new tank tops...yikes!! Glad to hear you are having nice weather:mad: ;)

Wendy** Sounds like you enjoyed your new workout. I need a new killer ab dvd...any suggestions?

Diana** I think the new ww is a much better plan! As long as people don't go over board on the fruit I suppose. How long as it taken you to lose 8 lbs? A couple of the girls I am training are following ww's and for one of them the weight is falling off fast enough...shocker!

LauraR**I think those goals are reasonable. I am only just liking my legs! LOL I was a long time wanting those skinny legs and I wasn't going to get them. They are smaller now of course but they will never be what i thought I wanted them to be. I love them now and are happy with all the work they do.

O.k..I will bb in the morning. My a.m apt as to go to work early so the only one I am training in the morning is moi! I loves it!

Hey Ladies,

Just got back from bootcamp, an another great class! Tomorrow morning will be Cardio...and I'm leaning towards BM2 Cardio Blast premix, or KPC.

Lori-What brand color do you use for your hair, and how often do you have to color it? I want to color mine but am not ready to be tied down to doing it on a regular basis. It's taken me about 6wks to lose 8lbs. I'm a slow loser and don't lose each week either. I've had ups and downs during the last 6wks. Actually, I would rather eat an additional piece of fruit than a processed junk food item. I usually have 3-4 servings of fruit and 4-5 servings of veggies each day. It's cutting out the crap that is tough for me.

LauraT-we've been having nice weather this past week too. There is more cold weather coming next week though. My foot problems started about 20yrs ago. I had a bunionectomy...then about 10yrs later they had to do a more invasive procedure...now my foot is kind of deformed and they need to fix it because it is starting to cause toe crowding etc. Plus, if I don't get it corrected it can cause another neuroma..my most recent surgery fixed that.

Wendy-stop already....honestly I'm going to have to go get supreme 90...goodness...there is a walgreens a mile from me!

LauraR-great job with GS Legs. I love that w/o, the stability ball work is really effective. If Wendy has her way, you will be searching out Walgreen's when your in the States. I do have to say that she hasn't steered me wrong yet. What part of CO will be in. I live north of Denver. I think we may have been at the same RT. I met up with Wendy and some other Cathletes at the 2007 RT in August. I know there were 2 RT's one in July and one in Aug.

Today needs to be intense cardio to replace my run. I'm thinking about Amy Bento's Hi-Low Knockout.

Wendy--Well, we can limp around together today. ;) It's funny--my quads are just fine, even though they were screaming during the workout. Only the hamstrings are sore (and glutes).How do you reply with a quote but only part of the quote? I can't figure out how to do it without quoting the whole post.

Lori--I can't imagine doing a run and THEN one of Cathe's HiiTs. You must be in amazing cardio shape, girl. I'm working on it, and I think the magic bullet to getting back to the weight & body fat I'm aiming for. My legs . . . sometimes I feel it's a love/hate relationship. I will NEVER have skinny legs--just not built that way. But even though they tend toward thick at the top, they respond WELL to training and don't overbulk. When I'm in peak shape, I've even gotten compliments from college-age gals on my legs. But it takes work. And truth be told, I HATE working legs. Low-ends make me want to cry! :D

Diana--Sorry about the possibility of more foot surgery. I'm with Wendy . . . you must be tough on your feet, girl! I love GS Legs, too. I can finally do the stability ball work. When I started, the limiting factor was my knees. I didn't have enough strength in my stabilizing muscles, and so my KNEES were killing me on the roll ins. I'm so thrilled to actually be able to concentrate on hamstrings and glutes now! DH has one sister in Denver and one in Grand Junction. We tend to congregate in Grand Junction 'cause she has more kids and a bigger house. Yes, I was on the 2007 RT, but there weren't 2 that year, just one. It was the one that sold out in 3 minutes. I actually have a great story on that because DH signed me up without my knowing it. I was out of the country, he signed me up, and it was amazing because the trip sold out so fast. He was a hero! :D

And, just an extra note to everyone about the Gym Styles. I had to spend an extended time in the States at one point, by surprise, and without my Cathe DVDs. I did have access to a gym, though. Banslug watched all the Gym Styles and did a comprehensive breakdown for me of the workouts, reps, sets and all the details. That was my leg workout for 3 months at one point, but without the DVD. :)

Laura--South of Montgomery? I don't really know my AL geography, but my aunt is in Huntsville. I grew up in AR and we stay in TX when we're home, so I understand "Humidity" (with a Capital H!). I also understand parkas at night and shorts the next day. You never know how to dress when you get up! :) It's one nice thing about our weather here . . . pretty stable! (Though that can get boring.) Glad you're well enough to create some serious DOMS! Hope your power-walk can help work it out.

OK. So Walgreens is the secret to Miss Wendy's DVD collection. I'll have to keep my eye out when I'm home in a few weeks! :D

And right HERE seems like a great place for one so consider THIS your DISCLAIMER!!!! DO NOT READ THE REST OF THIS PARAGRAPH IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO HEAR ABOUT S90! ;) My azz is on FI-YAH! My legs are fine but my azz started hurting prior to 7:30pm last night! Disc 9 DOMS was worse, yes, but hey, you can't have it all! LOL

Today is STS Disc 8...Gotta hit it soon. I'll BBL with personals from work.

O.k...so no one else can tell me off for bringing up lulu b/c all Wendy does in enable everyone to buy new dvds so THERE!;)

I am not sure what my workout is gonna be. I am gonna start with abs, then move on to a run. I have about an hour so its enough but not enough to go CRAZY! And you all know I love a bit of crazy!

LauraR** I use to hate working legs as well. I don't know why I enjoy it now. I avoided lunges and use to skip them actually. Now my butt hurts everytime....so I enjoy it. If I can keep that part of my legs toned and cellulite free for another few years, then I will lunge all day long!:eek: Even last year I use to use running as my leg workout:p I am sure it is a good leg workout but not when your body is use to it.

Wendy** Shame on you for talking about new workouts. Are these new new? Like to the market?? Or have they been out for a while?

O.k...I am gonna get my butt moving!!

Wendy-well for $20, you've convinced me.

LauraT-Jockey makes some nice workout wear that is not as expensive as lululemon. Obviously, they are probably not as nice as lululemon, but more budget friendly. Since you teach, you need to splurge every now and then on some nice w/o clothes.

Lori-I love working legs, but in the last few years I've really started enjoying more upper body lifting that I didn't in the past. I really only liked shoulder and tricep work. Now I feel more well rounded and work all body parts more consistently.

Diana:: I have no room for anything like TRX so there's no possibility of an enable on this one...just jealousy! :p That's how I felt about S90. After all of the good reviews I figured it HAD to be worth the $20 even if I never did the program as produced! :)

Lori:: Supreme 90 is a P90X-like set that is being sold online and in places like Walgreens and Bed Bath and Beyond for $15.00-$20.00 depending on where you get it. It's 10 work outs all 30 to 45 mins a piece that appear to kick azz. There are definite similarities to the X but even if you don't care for the X you still may like it cause there's also enough about it that is definitely NOT like the X! I don't think you can go wrong with it personally if you are willing to use other instructors besides Cathe.

LauraR:: My quads are fine too as well as my hammies. Just my glutes are sore. :) To quote only a portion of a post you can either quote the whole post and then delete what you don't need or copy what you need, hit the quote button above (put your cursor on it and you will see it says "wrap
....". That will place the HTML for quoting in the post and you put your cursor in between them and hit paste and your quote that you copied should paste there. Hope you understood that! I am not very good at explaining things at times. I'd be a horrid teacher. :confused:
 
OK. I'm still working on the quote feature. Somehow I'm not doing something right. I can quote a portion, but it doesn't put it in the little quote box. It just looks like I typed it. That--or I get the WHOLE previous post. Aagh.

I'm starting to get a knot in my stomach with the RT sign-up in a couple hours. It's all or nothing for me . . . if I don't make it on this RT, I'm not in the States for another one in the fall. :( I'm hoping that all the extra RTs mean that this one won't be crazy-sold-out the way the last one I went on was. But . . . you never know! OK. I will breathe deeply and get ready to type fast!! Send me "success" vibes everyone!!

Hey Girls

Im at work and just have a little down time. I have had a busy morning so far...but its lunch time now:) And I just found out that this week coming up is going to be my week off! The new girl starts taking my shifts this week. I am excited about it:)

Diana** I don't know how I missed your post from earlier. My eyes must have been half closed:) I usually buy salon hair color but when I went to the store yesterday it was on sale. I don't even remember what it was but I liked the color. I haven't done my hair since Oct! So, its been a while. I do find that store bought colors are usually darker then they appear on the box but I think this one was right on the money. I could have even went a little darker but I would rather this then to light. I think my client is a slow loser to...she is proving that. She gets impatient with it. She text me the other day and asked if I knew of anything that could speed it up:rolleyes::mad: Oh...that irritates me so much. Yeah, if I knew I would put it in a bottle and sell it!

Wendy** See...and I know your going to laugh at me, but I didn't think P90X was that hard. I even tried ab ripper the other day and had no DOMS after. Some of the moves were tough. I really need to look for a good ab dvd or maybe a mish mosh. I am going to cuba in a few weeks after all:p:D Gots to strut my stuff!

LauraR** Nice workout! I am crossing my fingers you get in!

So today's workout was abs, 4 miles on the TM (35 mins) and 15 mins on the bike!

Lori:: STS is tougher then the X but the X was tough in it's own right too. Especiall C&B! That work out slayed me! I haven't done anything but Core Syn in many moons though so I can't attest to what it would be like now. I DO need to grab ARX and give it a whirl though! I don't recall necessarily getting DOMS from ARX but I had a hard time keeping up/finishing all the reps. I'm tellin' ya, if you wanna improve your abs, do them DAILY! Do them for 5 days straight and then rest 'em for 1 day. Wash, rinse and repeat. It's done wonders for me! :D You don't have to do the toughest or the longest ab routines out there, just make sure you work them in some way shape or form! Try it! I'm tellin you!!!!

LauraR:: Good luck signing up for the RT! I remember the pre-sign up jitters! I think you'll get in though! Keep us posted! Yay for getting the quote thing down! I'm off to get my teaching degree now! ;):p

WOW .. it is insane in here .. short handed again ..working w/pia :confused: ... thank goodness it is FRI ... and I have NOTHING to do this weekend!! WOOT WOOT!!!!! gonna be cleanmax on the house .. some ME pampering ... and some major sweat enducing muscle burnout workouts!!! :D and it is soooooo pretty . to get to 75 tmrw .. so I plan on putting on the dreaded bikini and catching some rays!! :cool:

Lori - I am excited about getting my lululemon stuff in .. should be in next week :D will let you know how I like it!! Not much more than what I pay for Nike stuff .. well a bit more .. but hey if it fits , and lasts, and moves and wicks good I will pay more for qulaity stuff!!!

Wendy - so you are a HURTIN' huh?? OK .. you just twisted my arm a bit more .. but no worries I LUV hearing about new workouts .. even if it may hurt the wallet .. but $20 .. HA .. that is nothing for a good workou t!!!

Di - I usually wear Nike stuff - and it can be pricey .... but lululemon is a bit up there .. LOL .. but if I like it and it wears good and last good .. worth the money!!! I LOVE working legs .. and my legs are my best feature :D (usually you hate working your problem spot .. and mine would be bis .. UGH .. would rather take a beating then work them)

LauraR - congrats on the road trip confimation WOOT WOOT doing a happy dance for you!!! My legs are longer .. leaner and muscular .. they always shred up good .. I am kinda a ruler shape .. athletic build .. but my problem area is my midsection and upper body .. tends to be THICK ...:( :mad: ..

Jacque - my friend where are you???

I did a power walk/run at lunch - got too hot and sweaty - going to go on home and chill tonight - hope to do STS TB tmrw!!! I did end up teaching a fulll plyo class last night .. and it was a sweatfest .. and man did my legs BURN and they were sooooo heavy .. but today they are MUCH better!!! OK .. gotta jet .. taken forever to write this .. have a great one!:D
 
Good Morning!

I am up to early for a saturday morning...that's forsure. I woke up to check the time and I couldn't get back to sleep. I figured it was just as well I get up. I have training before I go to work anyway and I wanna workout before that. I am sure I will be able to get a little snooze at work if I wanna. And worse case I will have a nap with DS before I go out tonight, even though I intended for DD to put him to bed.

I am going out with the girls tonight and am looking forward to it. I haven't been out in fine form in a while. I am thinking I won't be up this early tomorrow morning. I am looking forward to it!

Wendy** I have been working my abs every day pretty much. I think that's why I want new dvds, then I have more to choose from. I do have strong abs and they are getting more defined all the time.

Laura** I can't wait for you to get your stuff either. It takes almost 2 weeks for me to receive mine b/c they ship from the other side of the country! Shipping is free but its ground. I don't know if I have the option to inquire about faster shipping. I am tempted to look and see what is new....oh dear! I don't need anymore! LOL I bought ALOT of stuff last month. Sounds like you have a nice weekend ahead of you.

LauraR** Congrats on getting into the RT!! You must be pretty excited! I know I would be.

Diana** What are your plans for this weekend??

So I am going to do HR UB, a run and then KB. If I have enough time I may even do the leg work in HR as well. Lord knows I am up early enough!

Just did PowerStrikes 4. Living on adrenaline today from the RT signup yday! :D

My upper body is so tense. A lot has been going on, and I have to be ready to leave home for another continent in 7 weeks. So, I'm a little stressed. Going to go get another massage today. One of the perks of life in Uganda. The power and water may go off for 10 days at a time, but a massage is affordable. ;);)

Oh...sleep! I am getting soooo sleepy! I may have to take a early nap at work! LOL

My workout today was another mish mosh. I did HR UB, 3 miles on TM, 4DSKB, and MMA UB combos. I have my ankle weights strapped around my hands while I was punching. My shoulders were fried.

LauraR** That's funny! I think I would rather have water and power then a massage! LOL

Hi Ladies,

We are having DS3's birthday party today. He will be 15 on Monday and cannot wait to get his permit. Unfortunately, the DMV is closed for President's day on Monday so he will have to wait until Tuesday. I think 5 boys will be spending the night. The only thing I'm really looking forward to is learning how to use th Kinect! DS1 is setting it up for us.

The cake is in the oven and I'm getting read on the ice cream dessert. I'm expecting the kids to take care of cleaning the house.

My workout for today will be Back & Biceps and maybe a HIIT w/o.

Wendy-you don't need much room for the TRX. You hook in the door similar to using the tubing in P90X. I'm going to try to view the dvd today but probably won't have time to use it until tomorrow. Are you in AC this weekend?? Good Luck!

LauraR-congrats on getting into the RT. They are a lot of fun. ITA w/Lori, I'd much rather have power and water than a massage.:D

Lori-nice mish mosh this morning. Yeah, I was up pretty early too. I had to make my own coffee and was not happy about that.

LauraT-I plan on buying Supreme 90....damn you Wendy...I too would like more cardio w/o's and although this series is mostly weights, if the cardio is better than what's in the X, it's worth it.
