Damage Control...Week of 2/13

My work out is done! :D

Cardio Kicks
Standing abs from Criss Cross Cardio

Awesome sweat! Oldie but a goodie for sure! Kicks my butt!

Oooooh! Cardio Kicks was my very first workout! :D Nostalgia. I was a Firmie, and I ask on the Firm forums for something with tougher cardio. Wow, did I get it! :p

I just finished PP upper x3 premix. PP by itself isn't really that tough, but I love it as a "go to" when I've been sick and need a "real" workout, or when I'm just out of the groove. The premixes that double up the sets make it tough. Good workout today.

Hi ladies,

Wow, I slept like a rock last night. I'm struggling to get up and am enjoying my coffee before putting in one of the HIIT's.

LauraR-congrats on the weight loss. My weight is finally starting to drop also, its such a slow process though. I've already been on two road trips and had a ton of fun at both of them. I'm not planning on going this year though. Good Job with PP! The premixes are good on both PP and SS. SS lower body blast is one of my favorites. When will you be coming to the states?

Lori-wow, I'm jealous. I haven't seen that weight since I was a competitive gymnast in high school. 125 is probably my lowest adult weight and that was when I was running 2 times a day and following a vegetarian diet. Now that I know all the benefits of lifting weights, I will never give it up. Oh yeah...and I enjoy weight lifting too!!

Wendy-Nice w/o this morning. I haven't done cardio kicks in forever. Gotta love those ice breakers at the end though!

LauraT-so how was dinner last night?

Jacque-where are you girl???? How are you is the better question.

Sunshine - 65 degrees - Tuesday!!!!! it is NICE!!!!

Morning Ladies -

Yes it is a perfectly BEAUTIFUL day  ...Hope all of you had a great Valentines night!!! ;) I did :D I visited w/family - and then came home we cooked crab legs it was nice! DH had gotten up and went to town and got me a sweet card - some steaks - a bird feeder - a suit holder - and some coors delights!! :D HE IS SO SWEET sometimes - he is on nights and I told him he didnt have to do that ..b/c he bought me an exercise outfit .. but he did it to surprise me!

I taught 30 min cardio last night - was gonna do plyo .. but they had steps set up - so I did 30 min super step - was a good cardio workout!

Lori - ok size 1/2 or 1 or 2 .. still cant not compute in my brain :p like I said I never visited those sizes EVER .. LOL!!! man that sucks about the co-worker - that is so not fair!!!

Wendy - good workout .. sometimes going back to older workouts can be surprisingly hard!! LOL

Di - glad you slept good - and having great fun at bootcamp!!! V-day night was great!! ;)

LauraR - wow congrats on the weight loss .. you are dropping weight fast!! WTG!!!!!

Jacque - where are you?? Hope all is ok with you!!!

OK .. so tonight will be triple set shaping - going to do the routine that has heavy weight set, light weight set, no weight high rep set .. it is killer!!! Kinda a muscle endurance workout w/a kick!! OK .. have a great one!!! :D

OMG!! So freaking COLD!! I can even feel that my nose is cold! Another stormy day here. YUCK!! I am sooo tired of winter:(. Depending on the way the wind is blowing, it can blow right through the building and that's what's happening today. I am hanging out in the tv room for a bit with hopes that I will warm up some.

Wendy and LauraR** Nice workouts!

Diana** I woke up a couple of times last night to check the time! Then I had to get up at 5:50. I feel good though. It should be a pretty quiet day at work. Then again, I can't fall asleep when Im freezing now can I?

Laura** Sounds like you had a lovely day! I have my new pants on now:D LOL Everyone is soo mad at me;)

I will probably bbl!

Lori:)

Good (almost) Afternoon Ladies.

So Cardio Kicks certainly does KICK butt! I was dripping sweat and panting! The inclusion of the weighted gloves really ups the intensity as well! :)

Lori:: I am almost always cold here at work. I have a sweater or zip up sweatshirt with me all the time and wear it MOST of the time. I don't think I move around enough while I'm here thus I am cold all the time cause I'm certainly not like this at home and we don't keep our heat high!

LauraT:: What great gifts! Me and DH exchange cards and he buys me a small thing of chocolates but that's about it. We never really exchanged big for V day. I don't want to. :p He's too hard to buy for for Christmas and his Birthday as it is! ITA-Just cause it's an oldie doesn't mean it doesn't pack a punch!

LauraR:: What part of the states will you be in when you visit? Do you make the trip every summer? You are right about that PP Premix! Oh my! It's killer! Congrats on the weight loss!!! :)

Diana:: So which HiiT did you do this morning? Yup, the icebreakers are fun! ;) I hear ya re: P90X but for the money, if I can even just utilize 2 of the work outs from S90 then I'll consider it money well spent. :) I wanted to try a cardio from the program this morning but legs would have KILLED me. I'm gonna do one soon though!

Wendy--When we're in the States we base in Fort Worth. However, we will be all over! DH's sisters are in CO. His parents are in AK. So we travel. It can be tiring, but since the kids aren't always in the States, I think it's good for them to get to see several areas.

Diana--It does take a while for the weight to start coming off. DH keeps reminding me that I can go for a couple weeks without losing ANYTHING and then suddenly shed 2 or 3 in a week. I don't know why that is, but it can be tough to hang on until you start seeing results! I went on the 2007 road trip. It was such fun. I have to cross my fingers that the RT overlaps with our scheduled stateside assignment. I JUST missed them in '08 and '09! And last year I didn't go home. Only DH. :( Are you all well now?

Lori--I'm growling at your co-worker with you! (Can you hear me across the ocean?) :p OK. 117.4? I'm about to be jealous, but I also have to ask, "How tall are you?" My MIL and both SILs are tiny little things, and I feel like an Amazon woman around them. MIL looks like Naomi Judd, and the SILs could be models. And they're all about 5'2" (like dear Cathe!) I'm not enormous--5'8"--but it sure makes 5'2" look tiny!

And, anyone, speaking of weight, I've heard that, for the first 5 feet you get 100 pounds and then for every inch after that, you ought to weigh another 5 pounds. At 5'8" that would put me at 140. Have you heard anything similar?

Poochy--I'm with you--I went straight from juniors to a size 6. Never saw a 2 or 4. I don't think they even made 0s back then!;) Sounds like you had a great V-Day, and DH sounds like a keeper!

Gotta get to bed. It's Intensity for me tomorrow. DH is gone this week, so I can't run since it'd leave the kids alone. So I'm trying to do some seriously amped up cardio instead. I think "intensity" fits the bill!

LauraR:: That's awesome that you are able to take an extended vacation in the states and see family. Do you also take advantage of any activities, etc that you can't find where you live? Your kids will certainly be well traveled by the time they are old enough to branch out on their own. Do you ever wonder where they will end up? I've never heard of the weight thing you mentioned but if that's the case then I should weigh about 117 pounds. I haven't been that weight since highschool and would, quite frankly, look AWFUL! It was fine back then but now? No way. I'd look emaciated! BLEH! On the other hand our Lori looks fabulous and is exactly that weight. I'll bet my butt she isn't shorter then me either! It totally depends on the person. I think those types of weight charts are deceiving. They are likely based on non-exercisers who don't have good lean muscle mass in their bodies like us Cathletes do! ;) I hovered around 127-128 for the longest time (when I was running), got down to 125 while doing Insanity but then went up to 130+ after Insanity was done and I had to stop running. I went up even higher with my first shot at STS but lost it after I stopped doing STS and did a cardio intensive rotation for a couple of months. I am now settled at probably about 132# and I'm 5' 3 1/2", wear a size 4 and have a pretty flat stomach and ab definition! I think I'm doin' alright! I'm no skinny minny but certainly not overweight as any weight chart would definitely have you believe. Ofcourse I would love to be a bit lighter (who wouldn't!?) but if it's not in the cards then so be it. :)

LauraR - I hope that you heard wrong on that too!! I am 5'6" so that would mean 130# for me and I would be WAY too thin at that weight - MY PERFECT weight where I look the best is 135 - but my weight stays @ 138 .. but right now it is teetering at 140# but I have extra FLUFF right now .. 135 perfect but I would love to be about 136 or 137 .. IA w/Wendy - I think those of us who work out and put on a good bit of lean muscle - muscle weighs more than fat so the average charts and measurments are really not scaled correctly for us ... I would rather weigh more and have muscles than to weigh less and have no definition or shape!!!

and MY theory is that most people who exercise regularly - their body will pretty much settle in at a certain weight and pretty much stay there and that is where you should be metabolically speaking - most regular exercisers dont usually vary a whole lot in their weight .. and while typically a pound or two fluctuation is normal - IF there is a 5# drop in weight you usually can see a huge difference .. where on people who do not exercise regular may flucuate 5# and you wouldnt be able to notice .. Does that make sense??? well that is my "poochyism" for today! :p

LauraR** My books say the same thing for weight. 100 lbs for the first 5 feet...and so on. And the same applies for men? That would be fine in a perfect world where we all look the same. So many different body shapes and sizes...we all weren't meant to be the same size. I also agree with what Laura said about settling into a weight. I usually stay around 123 and Im 5'4". But I lost some before Christmas and just didn't gain it back. But what a different those 6 lbs made. I can even wear my work pants anymore b/c they are falling off of me. It is kinda of annoying actually but whatever....I will deal;)

Wendy** I am wishing that I brought one of my nice lulu sweater to wrok with me. I have warmed up a bit but its time to go home soon!:D

Laura** I agree with you regarding muscles v.s skinny. I trained one girl for a while who was super skinny, some people would think she had a awesome shape in clothes. I saw some pics of her trip down south and it wasn't that pretty. She had no bum but yet love handles...very odd. But some people would kill to look "skinny".

O.k...I am soon going home. Just thought I would check in first!

Lori:)

Lori:: If given only the choice of "skinny" or "fat" I would take skinny BUT it's certainly not the look that I'm after. I want lean and muscular/athletic yet still feminine. :) Lucky you getting to go home soon! I have another 90 mins. Could be worse though. The day went by pretty quickly! We have a memorial service to go to tonight for DH's uncle who passed over the weekend so I'm gonna be like a whirlwind and then right back out the door again when I get home. When we get back I'll be quite ready for a glass of wine!

Hey girls. Thanks for all the height/weight input. I'll BBL but just wanted to say that Intensity is done! Wowzers. Cardio factor certainly did NOT suffer for the fact that I couldn't do my run! :D

Good Morning,

It is still snowing here:( I think the snow in the back yard is level with the fence right now. We also need to shovel off what is on the top deck of the patio b/c if not its gonna collapse:mad: GD Snow! I F'in hate it!

There...now that I got that off of my chest:) I am off from work to do but have some training to do. 5 sessions to be exact. My 6:30 wanted to come a little later, which was fine by me. It would have been nice to have it out of the way but I was called into work last night so I didn't get into bed until 1:30.

I am not sure what today's workout will be. UB and a run, just not sure which UB workout I will do. I would LOVE to have my GS's back! Then that is exactly what I would be doing.

Wendy** If I had a choice I would rather be skinny then fat, but I was talking about skinny v.s muscles. I like me some muscles...I think we all do. As long as it isn't to crazy I suppose. Its kinda hard for a women to look like that anyway.

LauraR** Nice workout! I still have to buy that dvd!

I will bbl to report my workout!

Lori:)

STS Disc 7...DONE! Even with the DOMS I have in my shoulders from doing Cardio Kicks wearing weighted gloves y'day! :)

Lori:: I know what you were saying regarding skinny. Yeah ofcourse I opt for the muscles too! I was just saying if muscles were not an option which would I choose...skinny or fat! :p

Off I go...BBIAB!

So, thanks again, Wendy, Lori, and LauraT, for "weighing in," (haha, pun intended!) ;) on my height/weight ponderings. You know, you'd think that we Cathletes would have a good grasp of what's "healthy." I KNOW there are different shapes, sizes, and builds and that a good weight for one person is not a good weight for another. But I can still freak myself out sometimes.

I'm 5'7 1/2", which, according to the chart I quoted, would put my ideal weight at 137. I truly think that's about right for my build (lean, but not skinny). But at that weight, I still wear a good many size 10s. It's probably half 8s, half 10s. But I think "yikes!" size 10?! Especially with vanity sizing? That's like a size 12 of yesterday! And I start thinking I should weigh less. Or at least somehow be more lean. Or something. I don't like saying I wear a size 10.

And then I get really mad at myself because I think 5'7"/5'8", 137 pounds, lots of muscle . . . that's beautiful!! What is my deal?!

Blah. We women are nuts. Right now I'm at 143. For various reasons, I allowed myself some time of not being diligent with my eating, and I got up to 155, which was definitely too heavy. But 143 I could live with. I'd like to hit 135 again, though. And I think that'd be healthy, not extreme. But I want to be SATISFIED when I get there and not be mad that I still wear a size 10.

OK. Enough of my ranting!! You guys have really helped! :) Thanks.

LauraR:: I can totally relate to this comment
I don't like saying I wear a size 10.
I feel the same way about my weight currently. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the way I look but I DON'T LIKE SAYING I WEIGHT 130+!!!!! I would be satisfied with 129.99999...just so long as it's not 130! :p

Hi ladies,

Geeesh, another busy day ahead of me. Work is becoming exhausting. I was at work until 6:45 last night. In bed and asleep by 10. Normally I would work from home today but should really show my face in the office. With the flurry of activity it's probably best I be there.

This morning will be Intensity. I think I need a new HR monitor. Mine hasn't been working very well since the last time I sent it to Polar and had a new battery put in. I feel naked working out without it, but since it reads 00, or 39, or sometimes 210 it is just not as accurate as it used to be. It reads really low or really high, or not at all. Frustrating to say the least.

I'm switching my weigh ins from Thursday's to Wednesday's. I haven't been tracking as much as I should have this past week, but I've been within my pts each day. I've been weighing everyday though and have flucutating daily up or down a tad.

Lori-We're spoiled this week, temps in the mid 50's and sunny. Sorry to hear about the cold and snow. Winter isn't over so I'm sure we will have more cold days. Who has your GS w/o's, your sister?

Wendy-Nice job Wendy! So how are you liking STS now that you've been doing it for a while? I hope you like Meso 2 as much as I do.

LauraR-eat your words missy...I wear a size 10, sometimes 12 and I actually have a couple of 14's that fit. Of course I think those are mis-sized.;) My problem is I have large thighs and have to buy pants that fit my thighs and then take them in at the waist. I went from wearing a 9/11 to a misses 10 after having kids. If over 85% of women are pear shaped, I don't understand why it's so hard to find pants that fit.

LauraT-Well, I would rather go by size than by weight, which is what I think you are saying. Us Cathletes can weigh more but be a smaller size than someone who doesn't workout. Plus...we are healthier!!

I'm going to email Jacque and find out what's going on.

Time for Intensity.

Diana hit the nail on the head with this statement but I STILL wanna weigh less then 130!!!!!!!!!!!:p
