Damage Control TGIF!

Hey Girls.

It feels like a Monday to me so I am extra glad that it's really TGIF. :D

Well, after having done nothing but cardio all week I am ready for a good weight work out. Not sure what I'll do but I'm looking forward to it! Maybe today is a good day to restart 4DS for a couple of weeks! I'll see...

So I braved the scale this morning and ran away screaming. I knew it would be bad but I wanted to know exactly how bad. I gained 4+ pounds while I was on vacation! Yeah of course it's not all real weight gain but still!!!! I exercised daily and watched what I ate to a point. I brought some of my healthy foods there but of course it wasn't ALL going to be good and yeah, the massive amounts of alcohol probably didn't help. :p So now let's see how long it takes for me to undo the damage AND to dry out my liver. LOL

Off I go for now but I'll be back. I'll start back up with personals later today.

CIAO!

Yee Haw it's Friday ! ! !

Well I made it back to keep up with the reading y'day but didn't get around to posting. Did my 20 min walk at lunch, ME after work (took extra long since the DVD kept sticking in my player in the exercise room - worked fine in the family room?) At least it was hockey night so I didn't have to worry about making dinner. Then was just under 7K steps so hopped back on the TM to watch the JK Rowling special and hit my 10K mark. My legs are feeling very tired lately and I'm not sure if it is due to working them daily or time for a break.
So today is a cardio day and I hope there's a breeze after work so I can hit the road.

Lori – So you will begin Meso 3 soon then? Heck I think the most I have ever run in a week is in the mid 20 miles. ITA that it is hard to fit everything in when you have a full time job. Though I dream of taking a week of work and exercising for hours a day. Could I do it, probably, will I, actually the way things are going I am honestly contemplating it. How were your new tunes? Did you “kick it up” even more? :p

Jen – another Jari fan . . . How or which workout of Cathe’s would you compare hers to? I’ve been tempted since so many other Catheites workout with her also. Well ITA when I’m not actually making a meal (or heating leftovers) the sodium factor is a problem. :( Water water water and sweat sweat sweat. You’ll do fine once you get back on schedule ! So now there are a couple of posts saying the GWF doesn’t work well. UGH ! ! ! Decisions decisions. Sure hope we work HP into the weekend. I'm even more curious after watching the special last night.

Diana – good to hear you are feeling back to normal. Makes it so hard to get through the days after not enough sleep and, for me, lack of exercise. Did you kick some “bootcamp” last night? I’d love to have sprinklers – DH is just a real slow mover since he has them on the lawns which is his responsibility !

Laura – Soooooo sorry you’ve had such a horrible time lately. Will be interested to hear the details. ^5’s on your steps the other day ! Woo Hoo 12 K ! ! ! Hope today is more normal in all ways.

Wendy – nice you were able to take an extra day. Great job on exercising while you were away. Cardio works – no need for weights – at least that’s what Jillian says, right? ;) LOL about your midday CAB indulge that carried you through bedtime ! That is exactly what vacations are for you know ! And now the “race is on” with your scale. Who is gonna win? Well my vote is you in one week ! Only time will tell . . . :p

Off to work early - hope it means I get out early too ! :D

Good Afternoon Ladies.

Where is everybody today???

Ok. So I started out thinking that I would do a 4DS rotation beginning with legs. I wanted to do endurance work for the lower body instead of heavy lifting though so I decided to do SS Firm It Up today. I did it with 5# DB's and 5# AW's and really felt it. Now I am thinking of doing a short SS rotation instead. Things that make ya go HMMM. :p

Jacque:: Thanks for the vote of confidence where my scale is concerned. I sure hope you are right! :) Why don't you rest the legs for a day and see if they feel better? So do I detect a hint of sarcasm re: Jillian? ;) Cardio only is fine for short periods of time but I agree that weights are definitely needed. Now, wether they are light or heavy depends on the individual and what their goals are and what their body responds best to in relation to their goals. I don't think that everyone should or has to lift heavy to get results but I also don't believe that women shouldn't lift heavy at all or they will bulk up. I personally prefer to mix it up. :)

BBL!

Helllllloooo ladies.

I'm the only one in the office today while the boss and another paralegal are in meetings today, so it has taken me a while to get here with the phone ringing all morning  Now nothing is going on and I'm a little bored, but that's okay, I'll take it. It gives me a chance to check in with y'all.

No workout for me to report. The pain in my heel is still aggravating me. I'm not sure if it's the same or any better today. Fortunately though, Fridays are casual days, so I have my sneakers on for comfort.

The kids are on their way home as I type, and I'm so looking forward to seeing them :D

Wendy: Welcome back, girl! Yeah, I also had a run from the scale screaming episode this week. Can't remember if it was yesterday or the day before, but I haven't gotten back on since. I went out for dinner and drinks with a GF last night, which turned out of be drinks only, and I swear I'm ten pounds heavier today. Drinking tons of water to flush this stuff out! I say we just make sure to get those steps in over the weekend, eat clean, sweat it out, and it'll be much better by Monday. Sounds like you've already started sweating it out with SS :) I'm glad to hear you had a great time on your vacation.

Jacque: Hmmm, I'd say probably the most similar Cathe workout to Jari's is maybe Power Hour with it's high reps...maybe. The thing about Jari is that yes, her workouts are low weights, high reps, but they're also compound moves. You're rarely doing anything in a stationary position. For instance, she has you do lateral raises for shoulders while stepping off the step into a squat at the same time. They do get the heart rate up a bit, and with the right weight, you can't help but feel the burn. I haven't had any trouble with the GWF. It has been very consistent. I guess people just have realize that it's a tool to gauge activity level and calorie burn with, it's not the magic answer to weight loss as some people seem to think they'd get. You still have to watch what you eat and commit to the extra movement, you know? It's definitely unneccessary for weight loss, but for me it was a wake-up call as to how much I really need to work for a decent daily calorie burn to support my weight loss/maintenance goals without drastically cutting my caloric intake. Does that make sense? I don't want to have to eat 1200-1400 calories just to maintain. I'm hungrier than that. BUT, if that's the case, I better be sure to move more, and the GWF showed my just how much more that is. HTH!

Laura: Arhg...you sound frazzled! I hope today is calmer for you, but if it isn't, at least it's finally Friday, right?

Diana: Good point about the sandals. I've also been wearing sandals more, and the other day I wore high heels for my day of meetings. I also had a huge briefcase of files and a laptop I was lugging around while wearing said high heels. That may also have had something to do with this. How'd bootcamp go last night?

Lori: What's up with you today?

'Spose I should get a little more work done before everyone returns. Don't want anyone to think I was sittin' on my butt chatting or anything ;) Will check in with you all later.

Jen

Hi Ladies,

I woke up to the radio while DH was in the shower...as I do everyday. Except that today I thought it was Saturday. How disappointing to realize it was only Friday.

Bootcamp was tough last night. WU was 2 laps around the football/soccer field then we used jump ropes (as bands) and did upright rows, chest presses, lunges, dips, squats etc. In between the band work we ran 1 lap, crossovers each side up the hill, 3 sprints up the hill. More band work....crossovers, 5 sprints up the hill, repeat again with 7 sprints up the hill (puke factor was high) on the last set of sprints. Finished off with some tough abs and well deserved stretch. One the women brought her husband as he thought these were easy workouts. He changed his tune about half way through!

This morning I was lazy and only did 20 min on the elliptical while previewing powerstrike. I did about 10 min of powerstrike and had to shower and head to work.

It was employee appreciation day today and they had a barbeque for us as well all volleyball games all week long. I had a veggie burger, fresh fruit and a chocolate chip cookie. I also walked from my building to the building with the festivities.

Wendy-welcome back! I see you are still suffering from exercise ADD.:p I've decided to do 2-3 weeks of kettlebells. Did empire state yesterday and will do another kb w/o tomorrow. Interested in joing me????

Jacque-ITA w/Jen. The GWF is no magic bullet. It sounded to me like the person with the GWF problem probably didn't have it set up correctly to begin with. It is just a tool, not a magic pill. Well, I'm not a Jari fan at all. Not to discourage you but I don't care for that type of lifting at all.

Jen-I bet you are looking forward to seeing this kiddos! Hopefully you enjoyed your break too. Do you have any plans for the weekend?

Lori-hope you are having a great day! I'm sure you're out running somewhere!

Laura-Can't wait to hear about all the work drama! You probably have fun weekend plans...you'll have to fill us in when you have a chance.

Well TG work is done and the weekend is here ! What an bummer of a busy & hot day it was.

Wendy - so I'm gonna go out on a limb (I guess it would be a proverbial tree limb and not an arm or a leg :p) and say SS = Slim in Six? or another BB? I really wasn't teasing about Jillian. Actually I was only remembering what she said in BMBF since I just did it the other day. I'm not sure I could always do workouts without weights either, but think that body weight can get you pretty toned if you aren't looking for a bit of strength and are looking more for dropping a few lbs. That is why I've enjoyed her workouts lately. Trying to go more for a "keep the muscle I have" and "lose the fat I don't want" way of working out - more circuit style. Not sure it is very successful yet, but at least I'm moving around a bit more than I was with STS ! ;) And I really loved the strength gains with STS. Loved that just a week ago DH said he saw more muscle. He is so sweet that he doesn't but me about lifting - and I do think he enjoys when other make comments ! :p

Jen - OK - no fair you had the chance to get bored at work ! Can you send some of that my way? I'm so friggin' tired of playing catch up I could go "puke factor" at work. Thinking it may get a little better soon - said that to boss this afternoon and he came back with "well I think the CSR process is going to take a while". What a bugger, huh? That is fine but please don't give me three projects like that all at once ! A couple are coming to a close so that will help. Thanks for the Jari comparison - combo moves are good for that extra burn. Sometimes I have a hard time focusing on the weight work though. However, endurance with light weight does give me DOMS if I use the right weight. Wendy has already been enabling me (unbeknownst to her ;)) and I ordered Jackie's 1 on 1. I think it might work well for a quickie lunchtime weight workout. Perhaps Jari will be next - think Amazon has them on sale?

I am debating on the best way to figure out my calorie burn. I really can't believe my HRM if it is showing I burn 2400 cals a day and when I eat only 1500 or 1600 I lose nothing. Like you, I dislike going much less than that for a long time. 1200 will help me drop lbs but come on - that means I am only burning 1700 per day? I have a hard time believing that when I workout at least an hour a day and should be a minimum of 250 for a weight workout, 500 for an hour of running/ advanced aerobics. That is why I am perplexed and was hoping GWF would help if it is accurate enough.

Oh well, enjoy the kiddies this weekend before you have to go back to work again !

Diana - Wow I wish your bootcamp was closer. Sounds hard and grueling but something I would push hard to keep up. I remember in high school when we had 2 a days during the summer getting ready for volleyball. Were at school the same time as the football team. 3 hrs in the AM for conditioning and 3 in the PM for court work. I think I enjoyed that almost as much as playing our games ! Would bi#@h horribly but enjoyed every minute of it ! :D
Well after last night's workout I think a half hour of cardio is perfect. Sounds like a nice day for the employees - good job on the food side of things ! Were you able to keep close to your nutrition plan while you were away or are you "starting" again? For me it's a double edged sword: I love going out to eat and trying different foods, but it seems like one meal out sabotages at least a week's worth of good eating and hard workouts. Sucks big time ! Oh do I want to "olden days" back - 40 yrs old (heck even 45) would be just fine with me ! (Oops, wait a minute, what was DD up to at that time in my life?) So whatcha doing this weekend?

Well guess I have procrastinated enough here . . . time to get over to the workout room and get in the remaining 6K steps somehow ! Still over 90' outside so a little too warm for me to run since most of it is in the direct sunlight. Maybe a CC? That will help get some mileage in for the week. Still have one FB workout and if I do UB only and then walking lunges in the backyard I'll take Sun off and see how the legs do without weights for a few days. OK, plan assessed and accepted.

Lori and Laura - hope all is well . . .

Enjoy your Fri nite girls !
