Damage Control...Rootin' Tootin' Tuesday!

Copied and pasted....Wendy beat me with her sentence:eek:

Good Morning!:)

Up to get my workout done, even though I would like to get weights in...I don't see that happening. I only have little over an hour and I'm not started yet. Just enjoying my coffee.

I thought my manager was going to drive me insane again yesterday. The river we canoed, is a very popular one and right now all they want to do it talk about the river or salmon fishing. Yesterday he would not SHUT UP about the GD river! I don't care about the river....yes its beautiful but just cause I spent over 24 hours on it doesn't mean I am one of "them". I think I will talk about running all day...see how he likes that!

Jacque** That was a long drive yesterday. They should have just bought you a plane ticket!:D Who went with you? I hope they aren't annoying, whoever it is. Safe driving again tonight!

I will bbl to report my workout.
Lori:)

Ok! I'm back. :)

PC is on tap. Wasn't feeling Insanity this morning so I was going to do the next BB Timesaver but when I looked and saw PC was up next I changed my mind. It holds the smallest dread factor for me so I'm goin' for it! I hope I survive! ;)

So my son is not home all week. He has no school/no camp for 3 weeks so he is at my MIL's this week so she can watch him for us. DH dropped him there on Friday after work so that he could go out while I was away. He will pick him up Friday and we will keep him for the weekend but he has to go back Sunday night for a couple days until my mom can watch him on Wednesday. After that, he won't be gone for such a long stretch until school starts. Working f/t and having kids is a PITA at times boy! :p

Jacque:: The place we stayed at termed itself as a "resort" but IMO there was not enough there to be called that. They had a couple of pools, tennis, golf, a theater w/a very large screen tv in it but you had to bring your own movies and reserve it, a bar/lounge that was pretty lame (tho the drinks were cheap!), a restaraunt that was basically a big ball room where they charged you a ridiculous amount of money to eat a small buffet and there was one seating time and if you missed it-you either went out or didn't eat, a "cafe" that served coffee, soda, snacks, a gym that was kinda lame and they held yoga classes there. Oh and they had a few hiking trails. They seemed to post a ton of activities on the website that just didn't seem to be happening. They also made the lounge/bar seem like this hopping place yet it closed at 9pm on friday night! We had a blast regardless though. We hit the casino a couple of times and hit the winery. After the first buffet experience we ate out at restaraunts the rest of the weekend and it was good food. We want to go back to the area to visit more wineries but will pick another place to stay. Very thankful for the casino. We spent a lot of time there. They had a bar and a place to eat plus the gambling. We were able to hang out for quite a while and had fun. :)

Okay, it's getting late. I need to move my A$$!

BBL!

So I am trying something new today. For a while I had been cutting back on my carbs in that I reduced the starchy carbs but upped the veggies/complex carbs. Today I am trying just a strictly low carb diet. Should be interesting to see what happens! Jen said it works for her (to reduce bloat) though she can't stay on it very long (a couple days at a time). I am thinking it could be a good way to keep any bloating issues under control if I did it for 2 days every week or something during my next shot at STS in the future!!! Wish me luck!

Lori:: Sorry about your boss' inane river talk y'day. You really should get him back by talking about running non-stop. I'll bet that would be fun! ;):D

Good morning girls !

Toot Toot ! ! ! Not quite sure where you got that Wendy but it was a motivator for me !:p

So just finished Travel Fit - sweaty, though not dripping, but thoroughly exhausted and ready for a nap! Thinking I'd better just rest while chatting here and then get ready for another day . . .;)

Wendy - so the website where you stayed showed more than they presented, huh? Did ya' let them know some of your disappointments? TG for the casino is sounds like. At least you figured it out. Course here in Cali we have tons of wineries - probably a dozen small ones within 10 miles of my house. Wine trip to Cali girls? Low carb works really well for me also - in fact, whenever I eat the simple carbs I pack on the pounds, kinda like now. My usual day I will have a slice of double fiber bread for simple carbs and that is it. I can maintain that way. If I add pasta, rice, french bread on a daily basis, poof as in fluff. The other thing I allow myself is the low carb, high protein tortillas by La Tortilla Factory - 13 gms carb and 8 gms protein for a tortilla ! They are made from grain so you don't have that 'lardy' texture that makes most tortillas yummy, but they work for my favorite 'carne asada' with fresh salsa. Good luck - hope it works for you. Childless for a week again? Thinking you know how my life is, right? ;) It is nice to be able to be 'selfish' with your own time and schedule. I am loving it but miss kids/grandkids on a daily basis.

Lori - bummer about not getting your workout in today (or did you?). LOL about talking about running all day - great idea ! ! That and how to stay thin ! I came down by myself, but 3 others from 'my area' will be here today also. I love driving and the landscape is nice. Told DH I saw a baby calf running from it's mother and another mom and calf chasing it also. Talk about hilarious ! I've never seen a cow run so fast ! Ha ! I mean fast ! So I had a nice little laugh to myself for sure !:p There are no airports close enough to make it worth it. It'd be a 30 min drive for me, then an hour from Los Angeles to drive here, more with commuter traffic. So actually faster to drive in the long run.:p Think the drive back will be the worst since it will be later in the day.

Well time to get a movin'. Check in later when I get bored . . .

Jacque:: Wow, it's not even noon and I am already really feeling the effects of the lack of carbs today. BLAH. :( I was hoping to be able to do this 2 days in a row. I will push through today and see how feel during my w/o in the morning and then decide if it's doable/realistic to continue for another day. One day at a time may be all I can handle...atleast for now. I am also curious to see what it does for me...if it's even worth it. It works for lots of people though so I'll be I see a difference in the morning. I hope! I enjoy child-free time ofcourse but having him gone for more then a few days stinks. I really miss my DS (especially when we are home as opposed to away in AC!) and he misses us despite all the fun he has at nanny's house! I told him we would either visit him this weekend or pick him up for the weekend. He asked for us to pick him up because he already misses us. How can you say no?? :) SAFE TRAVELS BACK HOME THIS EVENING!!!!

Hi Girls,

DH picked up lunch for me and Im eating it now. I wanted a salad with chicken on it. Little did I know it was gonna be a ceaser salad....thank goodness the dressing is on the side and there are some veggies mixed in with the chicken:) Its sooooome good though!

Todays workout was 11.2 k outside. I had a bad belly after. Yesterday I felt the same but I thought it was b/c of all the crap I ate last weekend. MAybe its the coffee before my run but if thats the case, its all new cause I never felt like that before on my morning runs.

Wendy** I wouldn't be able to low carb ever, I need them and in my studies I have learned how important they are. Apparently you don't even need protein shakes or stuff like that after a good weight workout b/c your body needs carbs in order to recover...not protein. Everything in moderation of course, you wouldn't eat strictly carbs to recover but it should be mainly carbs. I also find that when restricting something, the results are only until you add them back in.
The house must be lonely without DS around, I don't think DH and I would cope very weel but it must be very relaxing!:p

Jacque** The cow sight kind of reminds me of DS and I, him running away and me trying to catch up with him:eek: One of the concerns his teacher has is that he isn't afraid of anything. They are nervous when they take him anywhere b/c he doesn't sense danger. Drives me b/c I can't leave him outside to play unless he is gated in and he is almost 4:confused:

I will bbl!
Lori:D

Lori:: The sole purpose of going low carb (for me) for a day or 2 is to release any excess water that the body is holding on to and causing bloat-which I am undoubtedly suffering from after my w/e w/Jen! lol I could never do this forever either. I could never do it for more then a day or 2 at a time judging from how I feel right now. I am scheduled to do weight work tomorrow. I think I will add some carbs into my breakfast (post work out) for exactly the reason you stated. It just can't be my usual carby meal of oatmeal! I will have to control myself! ;) People who do this kind of thing long term in order to lose weight do need to be very careful about adding carbs back in b/c you are right, they will gain the weight they lost back (plus some!) quite quickly if they eat too many carbs too fast. With the limited amount of time I ever intend to do this for I think I will be fine. If not then I will put the kibosh on it all together. TRUST ME!

Hi ladies,

I miss checking in..in the morning! This morning was Core Cardio and Balance, per the Insanity rest week rotation. This w/o is supposed to be done 6 times this week. I'm not doing that...I will either run tomorrow per the HM training schedule, or do KPC. I did legs at the rec ctr...reached a new high...360# on the inverted leg press!!!

Somehow I injured my knee, pretty sure it happened a week ago at bootcamp class. Not sure exactly how it happened, but the next morning my knee was swollen and sore. It doesn't really hurt that bad except when walking downstairs..that hurts. The rest of the time it just feels really tight and hurts to rub it. I'm going to ice for a few days and see if that helps.

Jerod started football last week, practice is from 3-6pm. School starts tomorrow and class ends at 3:15 and practice is from 3:45-6pm. The practices have been pretty tough, but this is HS. Hope he hangs with it because he could actually get a scholarship.

Wendy-good luck with your carb restrictions. I don't eat many starchy carbs anyway, they should really be consumed after a workout. Sorry the "resort" didn't live up to the hype. I'm sure you and Jen could have fun no matter where you are. Nice job with PC! Hmmm, I haven't told my coworker I didn't sign up for the HM. Another childless week...enjoy it when you can. Joey will be so excited to come home this weekend.

Lori-it sounds like you had quite an adventure over the weekend. ITA, give it back to your manager by talking about the joys and benefits of running all day, maybe he'll get a clue.

Jacque-Good for you...getting in Travel Fit! I've done that one before, and if I remember right it has a nice ab section at the end. Enjoy your trip and safe travels.

Laura-hope you are having fun in Vega$$$$$!!
