Good Morning.....
from the crippled girl Yep....not as bad as last year but I am taking the steps one at a time again. And the calve that was crapping up yesterday is super sore today Gonna be a rough couple of days. And the stupid cold came fast and furious! Ugh!
So yesterdays scoop was as follows. It was windy and cold but we kept warm by staying stood behind the buses before the race started and jumping up and down I guess you could say it was a small warm up. I didn't eat a whole lot before the run. I just couldn't get it down. I ate a banana, my drink, my coffee and some sharkies (energy candy) but looking back now, I should have suffered down 1/2 a bagel as well. The first hill is 1.5 kms long and we were only 3-4 mins into the run, the next hill was 3 kms long, just when you think that one is over, there is another little hill after a tiny flat. At the 16 km mark I was fading. Not sure if it was the lack of sleep, lack of food or this bug that was in my system. About 2 kms from the finish line my right calve started to cramp up so I had to walk, but everyone is walking at this point anyway. So I walked and ran when I could. I was 30 sec slower then last year. When I got time last night I looked through the list to check out peoples time who had did it last year and I could only find one guy who did it a few secs faster. Everyone else was slower, some by 7 mins. So I should probably be happy that I was only off by 30 secs! The winning this time was off by 8 mins and the womens winning time was off by 9.
I am very sore today. Im thinking I will do a tough UB workout though. I need to get my head wrapped around a rotation now that the race is over. If I decide to do a marathon this spring, I won't make up my mind until Christmas time.
I did a nice bit of shopping yesterday BUt all Christmas gifts. I feel like I have a good dent put in my shopping now.
Im gonna read yestedays post then i will return!
