Damage Control May!!

Cathlete
Yay!! It's finally May and looking and feeling like spring! :) I hope you all had a great weekend. We were able to get some great bike miles in this weekend. Lots of yard clean up. This week will be total body workouts and kickboxing. What have you all been up to?

Hi ladies,

Saturday was 50 min run/25 min swim and then S&H Bi's & Tri's. Yesterday was Day 1 of the BR 30 day challenge. No w/o this morning, but should be able to get something in tonight. I'm getting ready to head out for my lunch time walk. Hopefully it's not raining.

We are to have rain and 50s/60s everyday this week. The rain is really helping the grass since DH hasn't turned on the sprinklers yet. It does put a damper on riding my bike though. I'm lacking in the bike discipline. I'm missing tri training this weekend..which is bike....due to a 10K run I signed up for.

Tina-glad you were able to get out on your bike. I've mowed the lawn twice now and we continue to purge all the junk in our house.

bbl to see what everyone else is up to.

Hi, ladies,

It became May before I even knew it! Last weekend I got in two good bike rides and some core max and stretch max. Monday I did Hardcore Extreme Intervals with Circuit training. I'm surprised how sore I am today from that-especially after yoga last night. I guess I need more weights!

Beth

Good morning! Yesterday was RK in the a.m. and a bike ride with DH in the p.m. Today will be ME, which I haven't done in about a year. Looking forward to it. :)

Beth, I just purchased the Hardcore Extreme off the daily deal, it should be here this week. I've borrowed the dvd before, so I know how tough those premixes are. Nice job on the road miles! :)

Diana, ANOTHER 10K? Makes me tired thinking of it. Your Saturday workout sounds like a military drill. How do you do it?!

BBL to check in on everyone. LL, where are you?

Hi Ladies,

Yestderday I worked from home so I was able to do BR Day 2 in the morning, and GS Chest/Back/Shoulders. I just wasn't feeling S&H and wanted to finish up the rest of the UB. No workout this morning, this dreary weather makes me sleepy.

Another cold rainy day. Rain is forecast through the weekend. UGH. The trail is sure to be muddy on Saturday. Heavy rain is forecast for Saturday and Sunday. My lawn is sure looking good though! Saturday is a 10K race and a Tea with my MIL and SIL. Sunday we are hosting Mother's Day for dear MIL. I was hoping we could sit out back but that isn't sounding possible with all the rain. DH is doing all the cooking, SIL is bringing some food and I'm only responsible for desserts. It will be a wonderful day!

Beth-Way to go with Hardcore Extreme! My favorite is the Gauntlet! I don't do them too often because they are too long to do on a work day.

Tina-ME, woo hoo for an oldie but goodie! I haven't done that one in years I'm sure. The tri training is not bad at all. We do a lot of drills in swimming and are working on speed and endurance. I'm getting more comfortable in the water which is my goal. I don't really care how long it takes me. The same with running. We have drills etc. Things like running downhill to train our legs to turnover faster. Hill running to make us stronger. Sprints to make us faster etc. In between the drills we just get to run at our own pace. I really enjoy the class and our coach is very knowledgeable.

Waving hi to all that follow. BBL to see what everyone is up to.

Diana, too bad about your weather. At least it's not cold out, too! Your weekend sounds perfect with your family! Once at the run is over you can enjoy!

Tina, hardcore extreme is tough! Yesterday I did the High Low Intervals and just about died when we got to the 10 Kickmax drills. Today I did MM and am feeling the need for a day off tomorrow.

My son is coming home from college today...he's a high energy kid and has recently begun lifting weights. His goal this summer is to gain weight and get chisled. It should be fun to see what he does. He's all about protein drinks after his lifting. Usually the less I say the better...he's at least reading about fitness/weightlifting and is going in the right direction. I never believed my husband when he said to just let the boys figure things out and we would role model our ways (like eating salad, working out) but now as the boys get older my older one is eating salads and whole grain breads and the younger one is working out. So maybe my husband was right!

Hi Ladies,

This morning was CLB, and I thoroughly enjoyed it!! I tried to do the next BR w/o, but either my DVD player is not supported, or the video format is not supported on my dvd player. DS2 showed me how I can get to my player library on youtube using the PS4. Thank goodness for kids!!! I'm heading to swimming class shortly.

I'm sick of this rain, and there is no sunshine in the forecast. Now we are to get snow on Sunday, 2"-5", then back to rain everyday next week too.

I had a Dr. apt today. The Dr. mentioned my 20# weightloss 2 years ago. I've held my weight for the last 2 years to within 1#. He said that was great. He also said that being active on a daily basis is much more important than the number on the scale. He said exercise limits the risk of numerous health conditions regardless of your weight. That made me feel good about working out everyday. Of course you don't want to carry too much excess weight because that can cause or attribute to many medical conditions too.

Beth-Did you take a rest day today? That is great news about your kids. All my research has indicated that refueling with protein as soon as possible after lifting will help build muscle and aid in recovery. Great job to you and your DH for living a healthy lifestyle and setting a great example. I wish my kids would follow in my footsteps. I don't see that happening. DS1 has a very physical job and is muscular in nature. DS2 is small, always has been. He works out at the gym several times a week. DS3, definitely has is fathers build and genes. DH's fathers side has a history of obesity and the health problems that go along with that. We try to work with DS3, but since graduating high school and no longer playing football he has gained a significant amount of weight. I wish he would make better dietary choices. He is going to the gym, but you can't exercise away a poor diet.

bbl to see what everyone else is up to.

Yesterday was PH 1&2. I have learned from my mistake of doing PH#2 first. Next time I'll do PH#1 to start, that one is definitely harder for me. This morning was HE Interval Circuits and LIS TS upper body express premix. Weather looks great for lots of miles this weekend. :)

Beth, that's awesome that your son is getting into working out. My two go in spurts. Right now they're both being lazy. You must love having him home for the summer.

Diana, that's fantastic that you've kept that much weight off!! I hope the rain breaks for you soon so you can get some bike miles in.

Have a great weekend. :)

Hi Ladies,

Let me just say that my upper back and shoulders are so sore this morning from swimming last night. No workout to report for this morning. I was busy ordering photos for my MIL's Mother's Day present. By the time I got to work, I had an email saying my order was ready!

So I thought my 10K was tomorrow morning...it is Sunday morning. That means I will be able to make tri training class and get on my bike! We are doing hill repeats before swimming. It should be a great class as long as it isn't raining. It sure does make for a busy weekend though.

Tina-is that Power Hour??? I didn't know there was a 1 and 2. Are those premixes? Too many acronyms for my brain to keep up with. Send some of your good weather my way please. I'm sure it will be hot soon enough. We are on day 6 of rain and gloom.

Hope everyone else is having a great Friday! bbl

Hi all! I ended up moving my rest day to Friday-complete with take out from the Chinese restaurant to celebrate the boys both getting through a year of college! Thursday I finally got to walk with my friend, Pat. We walked the 10K and it was 13,000 steps by the time we were done (she has a tracker on her wrist). It was so nice to catch up with her, finally! She just hiked in the AZ Grand Canyon. Did you know it has pink dust/walls everywhere? I never knew that.

Diana, I hope your weather improves quickly! It's finally nice here-stuff is blooming so allergies are kicking up. At least with the 10k Sunday you can work off the goodies from your Sat. party! I'm so glad you've kept 20 lbs. off. That is awesome! You're definitely controlling any damage by working out consistently. Plus you change things up a lot and the tri training gives you long episodes of working out.

Tina, have fun riding this weekend. We plan on at least one ride. I have to clean and with both boys home we need to grocery shop a lot more often. My kids consider cooked chicken breast a snack. So I'm constantly cooking! I'll probably do a beef bar-b-q and get some homemade pizza dough on hand. Plus I have about 4 green garbage bags of laundry just from DS2.

I guess I better get busy before this day gets too far away from me!

Good luck, Sunday, Diana,

Beth

Hi all...how was your weekend? I read about the snow in CO-yikes! Did you still get to run the 10K, Diana? Tina, did you get some biking in? LL...where are you? End of the year homeschool must be keeping you busy. I know the three years I did it getting the portfolio together for the superintendent was stressful...and I only had one child to do! Missy, are you still feeling good?

DH and I got in two pretty long bike rides this weekend-about 80 minutes each. My legs were tired! Today I did Circuit Max. It's been years since I've done that one. It's got two hi/low cardio, two kickbox, and two step. Add in two minutes of metabolic weight training between each of the six cycles and you've got a really fun workout! I will definitely be putting that one into the mix more often. It's kind of intermediate, I'd say, and flew by. I was able to match Cathe's weights which always feels like success to me!

BBL to see what you're all up to!

Beth

Hi Ladies,

No workout this morning, just a lunchtime walk of 2.25 miles. I was just too tired from the busy weekend. Saturday I did a BR w/o and Sunday was the 10K. It was raining/sleeting/snowing Saturday night. It made for a very wet and muddy 10K. I got it done though and that's what counts. I skipped tri training on Saturday because I'm not riding in the snow/ice.

Saturday I went to a Mother's Day Tea with my MIL and SIL. It was a lovely time. We hosted Mother's Day for my MIL and SIL's family joined us too. It was a fun family celebration for my wonder MIL! I made this chocolate cream pie that had heath bars crushed up in it and sprinkled on top. It was a winner with everyone. Then of course I also made brownies and this mint chocolate chip ice cream dessert that everyone loves. It was a wonderful day for all of us.

Beth-glad you were able to get out and ride. I agree, Cathe's circuits are always fun and the time just seems to fly by. The weather as of late has been a real downer for doing anything outside. It's not raining today, but rain is forecast for the next 2 days.

bbl to see if anyone else pops in.

This weekend was bike riding. I totally bonked on yesterday's ride, no food and super hot. I won't do that again! We need to start bringing some emergency snacks now that our rides are over three hours long. This morning was LIHI C/S/T w/ ab #2 and the bonus barre from LL&A. Tonight was GS C&T with DH. This was only the second time I've done LIHI and I really enjoyed it this time through. The finishers did me in!

Diana, nice job on finishing ANOTHER 10k! I sure hope you have sun coming your way soon. My last post that I listed PH as a workout, I meant RWH Plyo Hiit 1 & 2, only I did it 2 and then 1 which was a bad idea. It was getting ugly by the last few segments. Your desserts sound fantastic!

Beth, way to go on your biking streak! I haven't done CM in a long time either. Back in the day it was one of my go to workouts. I love the format of that one. I never knew you used to homeschool. I'm with you, I don't know how LL does it with more than one child. I'd go crazy teaching more than one!

Tomorrow is GS legs and maybe a short bike ride if it isn't stormy. BBL to see if LL checks in with us. :)

Hi Ladies,

This morning I got my butt up and did BR Day 4. I get the best results from this series. They have another 30 day challenge starting in June. I signed up for that so should get an email before it starts. My next race is a the Memorial Day 10K. It's always a fun one. Tonight is swim class.

It's time to get out on my bike. No more procastinating. The weather has been really wet and I'm just not looking forward to riding by myself. Time to get over it and get going on my bike. NO EXCUSES!

I'm going through my w/o's and am going to sell some that I don't use. I have P90X+, Turbo Fire, and Tracy Anderson's Metamorphosis Omnicentric. Let me know if any of you are interested.

Tina-Plyo Hiit it is. Sorry, I just can't keep track of all the acronyms. I haven't tried doing the 1 and 2 premix yet. I like the the LIHI w/o's too. I wasn't sure if I would like them as much as I do.

LL posted in the April thread. Copying/pasting here:

Haven't had much time this week CHAP (PA Homeschool Convention) in Harrisburg and I'm not ready. I will be but it will be a late night tonight! Of course grammar/writing is where I'm not sure...again.
Saturday I did CF triple tabata
Sunday OFF
Monday RWH Low Impact 2 abs 1, I think both had weights
Tuesday RWH LIHI Legs
Yesterday Ab Circuits yoga inspired abs
Today's plan supper body something. I would I've to keep it to 30-40 min. So that could may LIHI no finishers for either but then I wouldn't hit all the muscles. Or I could do PUB just up premix. But I'm not sure what time I will have. I forgot my paperwork that I brought to work on after the class I teach so that stinks. And after GHS (our co op) I need to take the car in to check out the blower before I go tomorrow.
I've gained and lost this week but I'm sill down about 6 from about 2.5 weeks ago. Food has been ok. I've still been prepping like a nut but I went overboard on Tuesday and yesterday I had some chocolate chips. Tonight I need to make brownies for our last volleyball social/graduation. So drive 1.5-2hrs to Harrisburg for CHAP and then back home for about an hour to unload and then drive further east 45 min. Only to head back to Harrisburg on Saturday. Tomorrow I go with B and Saturday I go with Hubby.
Hi to all that follow!

I have not gotten any wo in since Thursday. And I was planning on getting up this morning but Little K decided to wake the whole family at 4:40am!! So I'm super tired and in bed now. I don't know what's in store for tomorrow, just depends on sleep at this point.
Hubby got me Fitbit for Mothers day!! Unfortunately I don't know how to get it connected to my fitness pal. Anyone know?

Hi LL, I use MFP and my fitbit. I think you go to myfitness pal and select your fitbit from there. It will also tell you to track your food and activity on MFP and it will sync to your fitbit. Which fitbit did you get?

Hi Ladies,

This morning I did RWH LIHI CST! Let me just say my triceps were trembling. Those pushup finisher were no joke either. I had to drop to my knees half way through the first finisher. I don't recall ever doing this w/o. I did do all the RWH discs once after I got them.

What's everyone else up to?

Hi! I rode bike again on Tuesday. Glad I did because it's starting to get cool again. Today I worked over 10 hours and am taking a rest day. I'm off tomorrow and this way I'll be more motivated to get through MIS tomorrow!

Beth

Yesterday was all of GS legs in the a.m. and then the standing portion of GS legs in the p.m. with DH. This morning was RWH LIHI BSB and SJP step only premix. Tonight was GS BSB with DH. My arms are very sore, good sore. I really like the LIHI workouts more this second time through. Tomorrow will be a short cardio in the a.m. and a bike ride with DH after work. The weather looks really dodgy this weekend, so we may not get any rides in after tomorrow.

Diana, aren't those finishers great. I really liked the shoulder finishers! What are your plans for next weeks workouts? I may do another XT week.

Beth, DH and I just did the MIS abs together last night. I think he would enjoy that whole workout. He really loves MM, so he might like that one as well. I think it has been a few years since I've done that in full.

Hi to LL and everyone else who follows. :)

Hi Ladies,

This morning was BR day 5, it was an ab circuit. It was an easier since the focus was only abs. At lunch I mowed the lawn since the internet was out for a bit. I did get my HR up when I went to put the lawn mower away and there was snake. AAACCCCCKKKK I'm terrified of them so I got my neighbor and he took it out for me.

My eating is out of control. I need to tighten up the nutrition. I've been overeating since Mother's day and need to put the fork down and walk away. My chocolate intake is off the charts with the brownies, pie, and chocolates. I did pretty good today, but there is still room for improvement.

More rain Sat and Sun...I'm so over it. That means running in the wind/rain on Saturday in tri class.

Tina-You must be ripped with all the weight training you do! I may keep with RWH for another week or so. I haven't done them enough to be familiar with them. I like the GS series and Xtrain Burn Sets as well. Here's the link to the BR w/o, it has a variety of non crunch ab work that your DH may be able to do:
