Damage Control May!!

Happy Friday Ladies!!!

No workout this morning. I did go out and walk at lunch time...and got rained on. It's raining again today, and all weekend long....UGH. It's keeping the fire danger low and we haven't had to turn on our sprinklers yet! Tomorrow is tri training-running in the rain...and not looking forward to it.

My niece is graduating from college tomorrow. We are so proud of her! She has earned a degree in Health Care Management and her next step is Nursing School. She's been working in a hospital the past 3 years. She works M/T at one hospital in Surger Recovery. She also just started at another hospital on W/T/F where she works in the ER. She has to get a couple pre-reqs done over the summer/fall so she can apply for nursing school. She is going to be an amazing nurse.

I hope DH and I can go take a look at the new house I want to build. Hopefully DH will approve of the price. It's in our price range, but he doesn't want to spend that much. We'll see what he thinks. The new house would have more square footage than we do now, but will have 1 less bedroom. Our current house has 4 bedrooms and the new house would have 3 bedrooms and a study. I want to keep the study as a study. Right now all the mail, laptop and stuff sits at the kitchen table. When I work from home, it's at the kitchen table. It would be nice to have a designated area for this stuff that isn't taking up space at the kitchen table. The new house is 2300 sq ft. up and 2300 sq. feet in the basement. We would have to settle for a 2 garage too. I'm sure we can condense our 3 car garage into a 2 garage. The only way we can get the 3 car garage is to be on the golf course which is a $40,000-50,000 lot premium. Besides, I would prefer to have a backyard for my girls to play in.

TGIF!! bbl to see what everyone else is up to.

Last night was a 35 mile ride. This morning was SS, which I had forgotten about the awesomeness of this workout. It should be called Super Core Sets. If it doesn't rain tomorrow, we'll do a short bike ride, otherwise, it will be a rest day for me.

Diana, those abs look extremely difficult! It must be cardio as well. I'll try them when I'm not feeling so tired. Thanks for posting the link! I'm having the same food issues right now. I start off so good in the morning, but right around 3 I'm ready to eat something off limits, and not just a tiny bit. I need to revisit my protein intake, as I think that's why my cravings are so bad. Awesome news on possibly building a new house! Sounds like fun picking out everything to your own taste. I hope it works out! :)

BBL to check in and see what Beth and LL are up to. :)

Hi Ladies,

Saturday was a super tough tri class. We did hill repeats and then swimming-300 free, 300 kick, 300 free. I was beat for the day after that. I did do some shopping at kohls in the afternoon though. I needed a purse...but ended up with not only a purse, but 2 shirts and 2 pr shoes for DH too! Sunday and this morning were the next BR w/o's. Tonight with be RWH Biceps, Back & Shoulders.

DH and I went house hunting and he likes the same model I do and although the price is now 16K more than when I looked a month ago, he approved the price. It is still well within what we are approved for, but still more that what we wanted to spend. There is a 20K earnest fee, plus we have to be able to qualify without selling our home. We will be working with the lender this week and will know soon enough. I was hoping we could get a new house but one that was already built. This development we are looking at only releases a few lots at a time and they are sold before the house is built. It is an active adult community for ages 45 and older. You cannot have any children living with you full time under the age of 18. It has a golf course, community center with a fitness center, pool, activities etc. The home is a 2300 sq ft. ranch with a 2300 sq ft. basement.

All this rain has kept me off my bike. It is raining again all this week. I'm so over it.

Tina-The BR 30 Day challenge are all circuits. Week 1 is 30 sec work 10 sec rest. She starts off with the first exercise while we start out with jump rope so we can see her exercise, then switch. Let me know what you think of it when you do it. Week 3 it goes up to 40 sec work 10 sec rest. Super sets is awesome!!! I often do SS lower body blast premix. A total leg burner in 30 minutes!

How did everyone else spend their weekend?

Hi all! Looks like everyone had a nice weekend. Diana, that is awesome news about your house! It will be nice to build it from the ground up and get just what you want. Is it closer to your job too? Too bad about not biking yet. Your runs and that swim workout sounded tough. I watched that BodyRock video-holy cow those abs look tough! Do you stream it to your tv to do it? I'm pretty pumped we finally got an airport for the apple and have our apple tv working again. DS2 is connected as well from his room while he's home this summer.

Tina, you are getting some serious miles in! We biked Sunday after work. I've still been doing my Max workouts. Today was Kickmax. It seemed to go really fast with the 4 combos, the 10 cardio intervals, and the leg exercises. I'd forgotten how much I like that workout. Tomorrow we vote and go get one of the cars inspected and make a Sam's Club run to stock up on more food! I started tracking my food again...after malted milk balls yesterday at work I feel like I'm losing control sometimes. I use livestrong's my plate. I was a whole 37 calories under today...lol.

Off to watch playoff hockey....Go Rangers!

Beth

This weekend was 80 miles of riding, most of it was yesterday. Today was XT BS CBS in the a.m. and XT CBS with DH in the p.m. I'm not sure if this type of training is okay or not, but my body isn't complaining. I certainly wasn't doing ANY cardio today. Tomorrow will be XT CLB w/ abs in the a.m. and then XT CLB weights only premix in the p.m. with DH. He would never be able to do the cardio steps in that one! ;)

Diana, that's so exciting about the new house! We keep saying that our next house purchase will be a ranch. 2300 sq. ft. is huge! Is it an L style ranch? It must be stunning! I love just looking at houses. I hope the weather changes for you soon.

Beth, I really love KM too! Nice job on the bike miles! I just checked out the My Plate site, I'll check it out more closely tomorrow. I like the chart feature. We have a 30th reunion coming up soon, so I should start buckling down now. I'm still wearing my winter weight. :(

LL, where are YOU??

Hi ladies,

This morning was the next BR w/o and lunch was RWH LIHI BSB! This one was a real burner for me. I don't recall doing this one before either. Tomorrow will be the legs w/o in this series. We'll see how it goes. My swimming class is over for a couple weeks before it starts up again. I'm not sure if I will be taking it or not. With the girls here it may be tough to get to.

We put in our application last night so we should know in another day or so if it is approved. I'm a little skeptical as I just don't see how we could possibly qualify without the sale of our home. Otherwise, we have to sell our house and find a place to live while the house is built. DH has made it clear he is not moving twice.

Beth-nice job keeping up with the MAX w/o's! Imax 3 is my favorite!! Actually, the house is a bit further for both DH and I. Not too much though. If this is our retirement home then I can deal with the commute. Of course I'm keeping my options open in case something opens up closer to my house. It sounds like we all need to buckle down with our eating. My weight is up a tad and it's from too much snacking.

Tina-Wow, that is a lot of miles...way to go!!!! We have rain all this week. I'm keeping an eye on my basement cuz when rains for days like these we tend to get water in our basement. Our sump pump has been running steady for the past few weeks. Heres the link to house we want: http://www.lennar.com/New-Homes/Col...tage-Todd-Creek/The-Masters-Collection/Ascott
If you scroll down you can see the floor plans. The one they will be building has 3 car garage and extended covered patio.

Hi to LL and Missy...where are you ladies???

bbl

Hump Day!!

This morning was LIHI Legs...what a tough circuit for sure. I know I did all of the RWH w/o's once, but I don't recall doing this one either. I was huffing and puffing my way through it towards the end. I did abs #2 also.

The 10 day forecast shows cloudy and rain every day. UGH I'm running a 10K on memorial day and hope it isn't raining then. The doom and gloom outside makes me sleepy & lazy too.

bbl to see what everyone else is up to.

Yesterday was CLB. DH and I didn't end up working out together last night. This morning was XT HS and BS B&T. It was a nice combo, timed out at under 90 min. I'm trying to get a resume and cover letter together, so I'm behind on everything!

Diana, those floor plans are fantastic! That's exactly the type of ranch I would like. Center kitchen with the master bedroom on one end and two guest bedrooms on the other end. My MIL used to have a floor plan similar in her Florida home, it was perfect. I hope everything goes smoothly with the qualification. Boo for the bad weather. We have sun but it is pretty cold. I'll take it over rain any day! Another 10K? Whoa, you are adding up the miles quick this year!

Beth, have you been on the bike this week?

Hi! Yesterday was a short bike ride after our trip to Williamsport to get the car inspected. I finished with BM2 abs and stretch since I cut that workout short last week. Hump day indeed! I'm only working two days this week so tomorrow is my Friday then I'm off for a week. Thank goodness. I plan on wrapping up the Max workouts during that time, cleaning, and enjoying a week off from work.

Diana, those plans are wonderful! We're a few years behind you in moving to our retirement house. We are listing some property this weekend in hopes of starting to unload some of our ties here in the mountains. DS2 has 3 more years of college...then we can really get going! One thing at a time though and the older I get the less I want to get through things and just focus on enjoying the moments. Another 10K...you are getting some good runs in, Diana. Too bad about the weather, you'll just have to do more weights!

Tina, you make me want to do more weights! I love doing HS-did you wear gloves? Adding BS B&T is a great idea to really work the arms. I feel a little sluggish...took today off after a too long day at work. I did get a short walk in after DH got home-more to talk than exercise. Tomorrow I'm planning on Muscle Max again...need to do more weights!

Beth

Hi Ladies,

This morning I did BR day 11-an hour long circuit. Tomorrow I will do Day 10, it's only 30 minutes and is easy to fit in before heading in to work. It took me 2 hours to get home last night. The traffic was horrendous.

So we heard back from lender and we definitely qualify. They always seem to qualify you for so much more than you know you can afford. Because I have plenty in my 401K/Roth that could be used as a down payment is really the reason we can qualify without selling our house. We could potentially have to take a loan against my retirement in the event the closing on our existing house was after the new house was built. The goal would be to close on this house and the new house at the same time. Then we wouldn't even have to worry about using the 401K. That would be the worse case scenario.

Tina-way to go with HS! That workout is always tougher than I think. It sneaks up on you. I love the floor plan, but we have a lot of work to do before we can make this kind of commitment. Are you looking for a new job? What kind of work are you looking for?

Beth-enjoy your week off! I'm counting down the days until my week off in June. We are just staying home but will have the girls. I'll take them swimming, bike riding etc. My youngest DS has 3 more years of college to go too. DH and I will both be 50 this year and want to be able to pay off the house before I retire. Also, my DH wants to retire at 57 or 58. We are running the numbers this weekend to see how many more years he would have to work if we buy this house. I really want it...but it is expensive. We don't want to be house poor either. We also need to have our house inspected. We want to make sure there isn't anything too expensive for us to repair.

Hi to Missy & LL.

Hi all!! I was wondering why the board was so quiet!!! It's not April anymore!!! Duh!

I will catch up and read stuff later. I'm in Baltimore visiting my sister for the night! I just took my first hot yoga class taught by her! An hour and and a half. Wow! I was sweating buckets!! Tomorrow I'll go to her barre class.

I'll try to check in later, but I've kept up with my workouts!

Hi again, so little update here: the homeschool convention was great, but I completely forgot to go to the Critical Thinking booth, so I'll have to buy online, hopefully I'll have enough for free shipping.

Kids are finishing up school this week, there 180 days that is but they have certain workbooks I want them to finish. And I will try to continue with math 2-3x per week that they don't have camps and reading daily, but I haven't come up with their reading lists yet...

Food has been up and down and so has my weight. Exercise has been good, most days 30-45 min alternating DVDs from RWH except last Sunday, I did 30 min each of PRS1 and YogaMax.

Welcome back LL! Yesterday I did Hardcore Extreme Intervals with Legs. Today we're going for a bike ride. Then I'll do Core Max abs 2 and a Stretch Max segment. Did you all see I downloaded a picture?! That's me and DH last fall. It's not very big....I'll have to keep working on it I guess!

Beth

Hi Ladies,

I woke up with a migraine, dizziness and vomiting yesterday. DH took me to the Dr. to get some meds. I slept all day yesterday and all night too. I managed to come downstairs this morning. Still feeling pretty weak and miserable. The meds make me groggy and sleepy. The headache is much less painful today.

LL-too funny that you were looking at last months thread. We are almost ready to start the June thread. I'm sure it's quite hectic finishing up the school year. How did you like the hot yoga class? I've only been to one and really enjoyed it. I know I'm not a fan of Barre though. Let us know how you like that class too.

Beth-Love the picture. Is that your house in the background? Enjoy your bike ride. It's still raining here and I'm so over it. I'm missing my tri class today, there is just no way I'm up to that today. We were doing bike/run transitions. Ride our bike 1 mile and then switch shoes (if needed) and run/repeat for 50 minutes. Then 30 minutes of swimming.

Hi all,

Diana, sorry to hear about your migraine...my husband gets them and I can relate to your not wanting to do anything during one! I hope you feel better. Has the rain let up?

Tina, you getting some good rides in this holiday weekend? We rode Saturday. Sunday I did Imax Extreme from the Terminator dvd. I haven't decided yet about today.

LL, glad to see you're back and keeping up with your workouts!

Beth

Diana- I did the hot yoga. It was a flow vinyasa. No idea how to spell that. She didn't hold the poses long, which I really liked and she get spiritual with it. She kept it about the fitness she did talk about a "third eye" which was kinda odd. And I liked the music she used, nothing I had heard of but it was mid tempo and not instrumental. It was def. a benefit that I had done Cathe's yoga DVDs because I wasn't totally clueless. But I would consider those to be beginner as I went to an intermediate class.

The barre class was so hard!! She says all the classes have the same framework each class: 4 fifteen min segments, warm up and upper body, barre (I think), seat work (both of these were on the floor, she said the barre part wasn't always in the floor) and then core and stretch. I had to stop a few times. The music was fun, she even played a Madonna song from Ray of Light for me as growing up I LOVED Madonna. [emoji3] she did a lot of similar moves that reminded me of Cathe's floor work in Legs and B&G. But it really wasn't anything like TurboBarre. Maybe if she had done some standing barre it would have.

All in all it was a great mini trip. We went out for sushi on Friday night and salads on Saturday lunch then went for a long walk with her dog. She is sooooo healthy and fit and thin!! She teaches 11 classes a week, 1 yoga and the rest barre. Eats super healthy, big salad with lean protein for lunch, fruit or nothing for breakfast and small dinner. Coffee with cream and sugar in the morning and one glass of wine a day, no sweets ever! I wish I could eat like her!! Almost 5'6" and looks great at 50!

Well this morning I did To The Max "Pace yourselves, girls, it's party time!" I think that's what she says. I really love that workout!!

Enjoy your holiday!

Hi Ladies,

I was feeling good enough this morning to do my 10K. Although I walked in a couple spots, my time was 63 minutes which really surprised me. I've showered, started laundry and ran some errands. My legs get really tight just sitting around. Walking is much better.

Beth-I'm doing much better. Friday and Saturday were pretty much wasted days, in bed etc. The meds they gave me just made me sleep. It didn't start raining until after the race! It's supposed to start drying out this week. :)

LL-I hear yah on the Barre class, they are super hard. I much prefer my cardio & weights. Good for you for doing it!!! To the max is an awesome w/o! Woo Hoo!!!

bbl

Quick check in: Pyramid Lower Body this morning. I don't remember ever doing this one! I couldn't do all the leg lifts on the ball.

Anyone know how big the ball should be? I'm 5'9" and wonder if mine is too small and not inflated enough.

Hi to all that follow!

This weekend was three great days of cycling. Today was GS C&T and PH abs. I'm thinking of doing B&G tomorrow. I haven't done that one in awhile. Today was the first day that I've really missed STS. I think I might jump back on another 90 days soon. DS turned 18 over the weekend, so we had a great night out with him and a nice family dinner last night for him and my sister, who is one day short of being 20 years older than him. Weather was spectacular!

Beth, I love your new photo. Is that your house you're standing in front of? Love the stone work! Either you're very petite or your DH is very tall. Love your curls!

Diana, happy to hear you're feeling better. Talk about bouncing back! Right into a 10K? Who does that? You are amazing! :) The job I'm applying to is for a preschool. The pay isn't great but the benefits are fantastic. If it falls through, I'm thinking of starting a pet and livestock sitting business. Either way, I'll need to take a few certification classes on the side. How are your house plans coming along?

LL, they you are, I knew you would find us. ;) Nice job on your workouts, you've been kicking butt! My sister is an instructor/personal trainer too. She could kick my butt and I outweigh her by 40lbs. :/ Good thing I love her! Don't you love the end of the school year. We'll be schooling until the third week of June.

Hi ladies,

Monday I did PUB to try to keep up with weights. It was also the last yoga class of the session. The instructor is taking some time off now. Our session ended up being a private one since it was Memorial Day and everyone else was out of town. I wasn't sure how a 1-1 in yoga would be, but found it very enjoyable. I got to work extra on the hip flexor which I guess gets pretty tight with biking. Tuesday I felt really stretched! It rained here Tuesday so I did To The Max. That's a tough workout, LL-party or no party time, whew! Today I'm thinking a bike ride and the last stretch max segment. After that all the max's I've got left are: Yoga Max, Intensity Max premix, Imax 3, and Cardio Fusion Mix and Max premix. I'm hoping to finish by the end of May...but it'll happen when it happens!

Thank you for the kind words about my picture! The "house" behind me is a castle located in Seneca, NY. It's called Bellhurst and was built in the 1880's. Last fall my brother and I took our parents there for their 50th wedding anniversary. My husband is 6'1" and on a good day with heels I can be 5'1"! As for my hair, I decided at age 40to let it do it's own thing. I used to straighten it and wore it like Toni Tennille. I'm just glad I finally got a picture into the computer and onto the website! I like putting faces to names and felt bad about never having a picture up for so long.

Tina, I wish I had the time to put into STS. Some of those workouts take me forever. I'll have to schedule them on my off days and really stick to the schedule to get them all in. Maybe in the fall/winter when it's not nice enough to bike I'll get back to STS. Good luck with the job. I told DH if I leave nursing I'm going to go to yoga teacher training...he was not thrilled! For some reason he doesn't think I'd make enough to cover our insurance. I think it'd be fun, though! Have you thought about personal training? You have an extensive background of exercises!

Glad you're feeling better, Diana! Your body must have needed a rest. Did you send the rain yesterday? Is it nice there, yet? We are getting more showers today, but should be able to get a bike ride in early.

LL, what are you up to today? You inspired me to do TTM! I have Ray of Light on my iPod! I always liked Madonna to-Get Into the Groove being my favorite....I could dance to Madonna all night!

I'm off to spring clean the dining room-I got the rest of the kitchen done Monday!

Beth
