Damage Control July :)

Hello Ladies. :)

Diana:: Nice bike ride! Hope your training partner's insurance kicks in soon so she can get that hip looked at! Must've been cute to watch the girls participate in the bootcamp class but you will probably also be happy to go it alone and give it your all this week! The reviews on T25 are pretty good from what I hear but I'm still not buying it. Amazing, ey? LOL Nope, we are not racing in the morning on Saturday. The earlier spots are reserved for the more serious competitors. The schlubs must wait until later in the day. :p It's okay by me though as it's about a 2 hour ride out there!

Laura:: Sorry about the continued crappy weather you are having. Our heat wave is finally starting to break a bit. Thank goodness b/c I'd hate to waste $100 by either not participating in this race on Saturday or b/c I died from heat exhaustion during it!:rolleyes: Too funny about the phone system that no one knows how to work. Shhhh-that could be a GOOD thing!;):p:D

BBL!

Hola Chicas! :) (that's for Cathe since she is in Hawaii with her boys right now! Lucky Lady! :D)

I did Z Cut Strength #5 this morning. One of the best ones yet. Kicked my azz! I am already sore!!!! Of course, I made a few changes to some of the moves ;) but they were only modifications. I didn't completely change anything....

1) leg press - she does 20 reps holding 2 db's and alternating legs. I did 10 reps left and then 10 reps right and I held one heavy db at shoulder height on side of non-working leg.

2) renegade row - I didn't change it but I know I messed it up by doing too many push ups, not enough reps, too many reps....LOL :p

3) elevated lunge - I did 10 reps per leg instead of 5.

4) db swings - I did kb swings and went a lot heavier.

I think that was it!

Ok, so tmrw will be my last work out before I hit the mountain on Saturday for the Spartan Sprint!:eek::eek: I hope I survive! There are 4 of us going and I think we are all going to stay together during the race so that we can provide support and help each other, etc. Or probably more like so the guys can help me and the other girl! LOL I am the only total newbie to the race though so actually maybe they should all just help ME! :p:D

That's all for now.

Hello Ladies ..

well it is about to storm AGAIN .. thunder booming as I type .. I am on counter .. we are shorthanded today ..Got my hair done ystdy - cut shorter - lots of layers - and highlited .. LOVE IT! :D:D (highlighting is only way it is going to look sunkissed) ... I did Bob Core WOD ystdy at lunch and I am sore in my legs and shoulders ...

Wendy - that workout sounds great .. havent done Z in a while .. Bobs new workouts are a LOT like hers!!! but his seem more organized! Good lukc on the spartan race .. sooo what all happens in this race .. is there obstacles??? or mud pits?? I bet you dont need too much help .. silly girl!!!

Di - wishing I really could send you some of this freaking rain .. GEESH I am sick sick sick of it!!

Hello to Lori!!

OK .. sooooo thinking today I am gonna do a quick workout right after work .. may try Bob's strength WOD .. after the reviews I am scared of it ... things about it is .. these workotus are so short .. but dang they pack a punch!!!

Have a great one!

Hi Ladies,

So my intention was to run this morning but I just wasn't feeling it. I did Step Blast instead...what a blast from the past. Surprisingly the steps seemed to come back pretty easily.

I had my weigh in today and was only down .2, but that makes a total of 9#'s and 5%.:):D:D:cool: Gonna have to really buckle since this is pretty much my normal weight and I need to keep on losing.

Wendy-Still haven't tried any of the Zcut series yet, eventually I will get to them. Good luck on your Spartan race. I'm sure you will do great and a have a fun time too!!!

Laura-yes, please send your stickin' rain my way. We hit 98 yesterday, 93 today...UGH. My weightloss is attributed to WW...eating right. I've exercised pretty much my whole life....and am also an overeater... GGGRRR. The only time I can attribute weightloss to a w/o would be Insanity.....where I lost 5lbs the first week...but never lost any more during that rotation.

Lori-hope all is well with you and yours. We know you are super busy with work and the Kiddos!

Morning Ladies.

I slept in so no work out for me this morning. Possibly later though....

OMG, do I have azz DOMS! Y'day I was feeling my upper body within a few hours of working out but today the DOMS is definitely in the lower half! Love it! LOL

Laura:: Yep, it's an obstacle course....check it out! SPARTAN RACE Obstacle Racing - Spartan Sprint & Super Spartan obstacle course trail races and the Spartan Beast endurance race and the Ultra Beast Marathon So how did you like Bob's Strength WOD?

Di:: Thanks! I sure hope so! I haven't stepped in a long time! Glad you enjoyed step blast! Nice results you are getting! Keep up the good work!

BBL!

THURS

Morning Ladies ..

I am barely here today - woke up at 3;30 w/eye migraine - took meds - wouldnt be here if I didnt have a GGT tonight for VBF and 3 others .. it is still hurting .. guh! :( Hope I survive the day ..

Wendy - I chkd out the spartan race .. YIKES .. the first part looked fun .. but the end having to fight off those people while running in mud and over stuff .. IDK about that .. I wouldnt like people running at me knocking me down!! But you are a tuff chick .. you will rock it and have a blast!!!!

Di - I havent stepped in forever and my knee thanks me!!! I dont miss it at all!!! congrats on the weight loss and the 5% . . that is awesome!!

Hello to Lori -

well we got storms all day ystdy - and to get MORE today -:mad::mad: - no I am NOT a happy camper .. WTH is going on .. and WTH pissed off mother nature????

OK .. gotta run - today is a rest day for me! hoping that my head eases up .. i would NOT be here if it were not for BFF bday .. ok .. have a great one!

Laura:: Sorry you were up last night. I am sure you'll feel better once you get out of work though! :D I was up too late the other night so I was tired y'day. Then last night I went to bed at my usual time (even a bit earlier) and am STILL tired today! I managed to get up and work out on too little sleep but after a full night's sleep I didn't get my lazy azz up in time to work out! Go figure! There are all kinds of obstacles you could face in the Spartan races...They differ from race to race/place to place and they don't tell you what they are. The website just shows examples of some of the things you may come across. I've seen pics of people who have done the races where they had to climb ropes, get past people "armed" with those dowels that are padded at each end like what the Gladiators used on that show, etc. Tons of possibilities but you won't know until you get there. Not sure if that's better or worse! I'm being told I'll be fine though. I hope they are right!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will leave you the names of the folks I am going with, that way if I don't make it back in one piece you know who to go after! LMAO! :p

Hi Ladies,

I swam this morning for about an hour or so following my training program. My training partner was a bit late which gave me time to finish my coffee and wake up....and work my butt off in the pool! Tonight is bootcamp class.

Wendy-Wow, no early bird w/o for you today...seems so out of the ordinary for you. You will be fine in the Spartan race...don't forget to have fun!! That's most important!

Laura-more rain...I'm dying here in the 90's...UGH. Sorry about the migraine, hope you feel better soon so you can enjoy the GTG tonight.

Lori Lori....where are you???

Hey Girls:)

The baby is sleeping and DH is playing with DS outside so I thought it would be a perfect time to check in.

Let's see, today's workout was 9 km outside/BS shoulders and Bics. Yesterday was GS back, abs and 40 mins of ride..that's about all I remember. I know I did all the GS this week and LBB plus more runs. I read in my running magazine that sitting is the new smoking:eek: And I think we all have sit down jobs! It said that even if you active, if you sit for more then 64 hours a week you are more likely to die earlier....nice hey? Geesh....not everyone can have jobs that keep them moving. I suppose I could get up every time I print one piece of paper but that would get old fast!

Diana** Congrats on the weightloss! Thats awesome. What are you doing? Its so lonely when visitors come and leave....nvm when its precious little ones. Its not hard to miss those!!!

Laura** You've been pretty busy! I bet your puppy isnt such a puppy anymore. You guys usually have pretty nice weather so all that rain must suck. They have weird storms here. One minute its beautiful and the next thing you know, here comes the dark clouds and the thunder. That doesn't happen at home but when it rains, it seems to last forever.

Wendy** I wanna hear more about this race. Like a running race?? Have you gotten back into running?? I know what you mean about training and working, that's why I am not doing it right now. I was only training one girl and it just wasn't worth it and to take on more would have cause havoc on everything. So I opted out and wrote her a program instead!

So is anyone getting the new Insanity dvds? T25 is it? Ive thought about it but the other insanity workouts arent very long either....but I could use them for morning workouts....and I still haven't preordered cathes new workouts!

I will bb tomorrow!

Lori:)

Good Morning and TGIF!!!:D

So I ended up working out last night at the studio. It was a new work out and for now I prefer to do it once before I run it. Worked out especially well since I slept through my usual morning work out y'day. Oh and go figure-today is a rest day and I was awake at 5am and out of bed at 5:15! WTH!?! UGH!

So we got our start time for tmrw's race....12:45! We are meeting at the studio (there are 4 of us going) and taking one car. It should take about 2 hours to get out there so the intention is to arrive about 90 minutes before the start time. It shouldn't take more then 2 hours to complete so I should be back home laying on my couch with multiple ice packs by 6pm! :D:p

I am taking advantage of this race and doing some "carb loading". I will be making no holds barred baked ziti tonight. No whole wheat pasta. No low fat cheese! My DH will be in heaven! :) Then tmrw night we are having pizza at my suggestion/request! Sunday it's back to business though! ;)

Lori:: I am doing a Spartan race (www.spartanrace.com). It's an obstacle course race, not a running race. It's set up on a ski mountain so running is not part of the plan, nor the goal of it. I haven't run since before I got my job at the law firm! As for training while working fulltime, it can be a lot but I really want to transition to training f/t and lose the desk job all together and the only way I can do that is by doing both for a while. The fact that I like my fulltime job makes the crazy schedule easier to deal with. :)

Diana:: Great job on the swimming. Hope you enjoyed BC class as well! I am sure this race will be fun...among other things! LOL I am going with a group which of course will make it better and I think we are planning on staying together through the entire thing so that will be even better for the "fun factor"! :) I am still nervous/scared but starting to get very excited as well!

Ok, no work out this morning so no excuses for running late which means off to the shower I go!

TGIF!!!

Hi Ladies,

I had to be to work early today so I didn't workout. I'm working from home this afternoon and hope to hit bodypump and bodystep this afternoon.

I stopped at the store last night to pick up limes and mint for my mojito's tonight!! DH laughed when I said I pre-planning for my drinks tonight!

Wendy-It figures you are up early....I usually dilly dally around and ent up rushing when I'm early. Your approach is much better! Are the workouts at your studio the same every time for a period of time and then get changed up....similar to bodypump and step??? UGH, hope the heat holds off until after your race tomorrow. It's brutal here, 95-100, our AC bill is going to be off the charts I'm sure.

Lori-I'm happy to say that I have a stand up workstation and stand up at my desk probably more than 90% of the time!!! Go me! My weight loss is due to strictly following WW and going to the meeting each week. I so wish I was one of those people who didn't have to monitor every bite. I've eaten more vegetables in the last couple months....and I normally eat plenty of veggies but now....even more. Don't forget, I still want the name of the resort you stayed at in the DR.

Laura-hope you are feeling better today.

Need to get signed in to work...bbl

Hey Ladies! It's game day! AHHHH!:D:p

Diana:: Wait, why do you think I get up so early?? I LOVE to dilly-dally (a.k.a. computer/coffee time) and then yes, I am rushing in the end too! LOL Yes, the studio has 2 group training session work outs (referred to as "A" and "B" coz he's fancy like that!:p) that are rotated for a month before they change. The personal training sessions are the same way....2 work outs that are rotated but when they are changed depends upon the clients progress...or lack thereof. He also follows a cycle of Core/Strength/Conditioning for both group and PT which means that the work outs have a CORE focus for a while, then a STRENGTH focus and then and CONDITIONING focus...wash, rinse and repeat. The trainer I worked with at Power House also used a cycle of 4 (instead of 3) different focuses w/his clients but I can't recall exactly what they were anymore. Hope you enjoyed your mojitos last night! :)

Ok, off to get ready to go! Gotta be outta here in under an hour!

I'll check back in later so you know I'm still alive!:p

BBL!

Well, I did it! It was scary, exciting, nerve-wracking, tough as nails but fun!:D

The course was 5 miles long. They literally had you climb up to the top of a ski mountain on foot! It was one incredibly steep hill after another and it was rough! If you weren't navigating steep hills then you were navigating trails in the woods that were muddy, slippery, rocky and hilly. And THAT was just to get to the obstacles!!! I am going to attempt to remember all of the obstacles though they will not be in any particular order....

-Climb over a short wall (4 feet)
-Crawl under a wall (space at bottom)
-Climb through a wall (holes in middle)
-Javelin throw
-Log walk (several "stumps" in a line that you had to traverse with out falling off of)
-Go down a big water slide into a body of water and swim to the other side. There were a couple of floating "obstacles" you had to swim under along the way as well.
-Monkey bars (hand over hand across a set of bars)
-2 different army crawls under barbed wire through mud(ground was hard and rocky under mud.)
-Reverse slanted wall climb
-Dragging a heavy cement block that was attatched to a chain a certain distance.
-Carrying a sandbag (20# or 40#) up one of the super steep hills mentioned above and back down. THEN you still had to go back up to continue the race!
-Rolling mud pits (like 5 or 6 of them) (wade through very muddy water with small hills to climb up and down in between)
-Pulling a rope to get a heavy cement block up in the air and back down again.
-Cargo net climb.
-Lateral wall climb. (like rock climbing only on a wall and going right to left)
-Rope climb.
-Slanted wall climb (rope attached to help you pull yourself up).
-Tall wall climb (7 feet)
-Face "Gladiators" with "weapons" trying to keep you from getting to the finish line.
-Jump over fire.

There were a few obstacles I tried but just couldn't do and one at the end that I didn't even try coz I knew it was a lost cause (lol).

I am planning on signing up for another one in NY when it comes back around! One of the guys I went with y'day is entering a longer one in NJ in Sept that he did last year but he said it's miserably tough (and longer) so IDK if I want to go there....YET!;)

Good Morning:)

Yesterday's workout was Amy Bentos slo mo, chest, shoulders and bics. Then last nigh when DH came home from work I went for a 14 km run. My legs are pretty tight this morning. I am not 100% sure what my cardio workout will be today but I will finish the rest of Amy Bentos slo mo and I need to do abs as well. I am pretty sore from yesterdays workout.

DH is working all day so I don't know what we will do. The weather hasn't been the hottest around here. There were a few days where it was so hot outside I felt like I couldn't breath but the wind has been chilly the last couple of days.

Diana** I got it for you! Bavaro Princess All Suites Resort Spa and Casino! I am not sure what the rest of the reviews are like on the resort but I loved it there and I would go back. I think most reviews on anything in general are negative. People don't take the time to comment on the good things. Don't feel like your alone, most people have to watch every morsol that goes in their mouths in order to lose weight, esp as we get older. I am starting to find that already...plus my sit down job! Its not nearly as bad as it is for some. Some people feel like they gain weight even if they just look at something bad. Just be happy its working!! Although the people who complain that they don't lose weight, I don't think they put the full effort in!

Wendy** How was the race!? Will you do it again? I hear ya on the waking up! Ive was able to get up early every morning last week to workout and the last two morning I woke at the crack of dawn so the last two hours of my sleep was waking, sleeping, waking, sleeping and I didn't know what time it was so I was afraid DH was gonna sleep in!

I will probably come back later to report my workout. We aren't doing much here today. I did find a clean eating program on line that I need a few things for. I am going to get more into the eating clean/supplement stuff. I never use to bother before but I more intrigued. I do have enough for the next couple of days but I need more eggs in no time:eek:

BBL!

Lori:)

Hi Ladies,

No w/o to report for yesterday and it was a terrible eating day for me too. I tracked it all though!:) My dresser and nightstand were piled high with stuff and in dire need of decluttering. My dresser and nightstand are cleaned & oiled and my room has been vacuumed. What a good feeling.

My open water swim this morning didn't happen cuz there is a tri going on there today. I was up early and have been cleaning out the refrigerator, taking out all the shelves etc and cleaning. This stuff has needed done for a long time but I just couldn't get to it with the girls here.

I'm also saving all my important documents and images from my desk top so we can wipe it and start over. We've been having issues with it for about 6 months. As much as I hate doing this, it's cheaper than buying a new desktop.

I really need to ride sometime today if possible. If theirs lightning and rain I'll have to do something inside. Definitely need to start working of the cheats of yesterday.

Wendy-sounds like you had a great time. The mud run I participated in was very similar only much muddier I think. It was at a motocross track so we had lots of hills and similar obstacles.

Lori-Wow, that resort is on my short list!!! ITA, most people are more than willing to voice their gripes, but not so much is mentioned on the good service, quality etc. I go through a lot of eggs/egg whites too. They are cheap and easy to cook. Good luck with your clean eating program, I'd be interested in hearing more about it.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend Ladies!

MON

Morning Ladies ..

My migraine got the best of me .. made the GGT THURS .. but when the CABS wore off the migraine got worse! I had to take meds all night and the next day ... so i have been out of commission!! ugh!! this was worse migraine I have had in a while .. prbly b/c i worked THURS instead of taking meds and breaking cycle then .. ugh! I didnt feel myself till ystdy - I did mange to do Bob Strength WOD and it kicked my arse! not what I expected and now I am so sore in my hammies and butt I can barely sit down!! eeeeeoooouuuuchhhh!!!! and it wasnt so much what he did but the repititions .. ugh ... dont think I will be doing that one again .. but i was a sweatball and I knew I was gonna be sore b/c I could feel my muscles seperating and giving out!!

Hey Girls. :)

Originally I wasn't supposed to work last night so I going to work out with the group but then I was asked to cover and wasn't about to say no so y'day ended up being a rest day for me...Probably better considering how tired I was!

This morning I got up later then I wanted to but still managed to squeeze in a basic circuit work out of push ups, pull ups, squats and swings-10 reps of each x 6 rounds. Good stuff.

Tonight and tmrw I have a PT session to work-one each night. Thursday night I'm hoping to work out with the group but again, if he asks me to work instead, I certainly will.

So I asked my boss at the studio about the Super Spartan race in September that I said I wasn't going to do this year. After hearing what he had to say (now that I completed the Sprint with him) I am pretty positive that I will enter the Super despite what I said before. :p I just really want a "partner" to do it with. I will be a part of the "TR Team" as I was for the one I just did but I am pretty sure he is going to want to go for a PR this time so I'm not going to ask him to stay with me and the two other ppl who I raced with haven't said they are doing it so I'm waiting to see if I can find someone to hang with me. Anyone wanna come to Jersey to get their azz handed to them on the side of a mountain? :D:p

Laura:: Some of the race was brutal and some was fun. It was a good mix of the good, the bad and the ugly! LOL If it was all bad, I wouldn't want to do it again! Wow, what did Bob do to you, woman!? Yup, Joey loved his first fishing trip! Next time I want to go with them! :)

Diana:: Sounds like you've been one busy domestic engineer lately! LOL That's a job that I love to hate but it has to be done! I don't do it often enough though, I fear. Especially now that I am so darn busy! I can barely catch a break on weekends either! Seems there is something we have to do that keeps me from cleaning every single weekend lately! I do the best I can but I REFUSE to spend all of my free time doing laundry or cleaning the house. It's just not going to happen!
