Good Morning Chicadees. :D

So this afternoon we are off to celebrate our FINAL Christmas with my sis and her family.

This morning I'll be hitting the gym for a run. I am hoping my body will allow a 5 miler even after y'day's run. I will cut it short if need be though. Better to be safe then sorry....

BBL!

Good Morning Girls,

I had so much fun with the girls yesterday. It took a bit for them to warm up to me (sad) but then they were fine. We will be heading to MIL's to spend the day with them after bit.

We've all been busy playing Rock Band 2. I bought it as a gift for the whole family and they are loving it. I've only sang as I had a hard time with guitar hero. I wouldn't call it a hard time, just not nearly as good as the kids are-but then again they put in a lot more time than I do.

A long cardio is on tap for today, probably cardio fusion mix and max 80 min sweat session.

Wendy-you think I need a heavier KB, let me tell you my arms were trembling on a few of the exercises where you hold the kb above your head. I'm planning a KB workout tomorrow, a circuit. Have a good run! One more christmas celebration to go. I bet Joey is loving this!

Laura-Now I know why you put away the xmas deco's and did cleanmax. I would want to come home to a clean house too after a mini vacation. Hope you win! Glad to hear your nephew loves the wii. My 18 yr old got a shirt for his birthday that says wii tarded. It is so funny.

Jacque-so you are still working on the house! It is a never ending project. Sorry DD didn't make it down for xmas. Do you have any suggestions on readying my kids for the self supporting role of adulthood. DS#1 is working full time but living at home (not paying rent). DS #2 is going to college full time, not working. I wish he would at least work part time. Any suggestions?

Jen-What a great gift from your SO. I'm glad you and your family enjoyed the holiday even with your recent surgery etc. I hope you heal fast. Do you know when the next surgery is scheduled. I'm sure it will be another long recovery from that surgery as well. Keeping you in my prayers.

Angie-Where are you girl? Pop in and let us know how your Christmas was!

Hi Shirl and Dee Dee, hope you had a wonderful Christmas.

Hello Diana and all who follow.

My run is done. I was able to complete a steady state 5 miler as hoped. I had a few aches and pains within the first mile but after that I was fine. I took it a bit slower then my normal steady state pace just in case. The gym was hot as heck though cause it's unseasonable warm here today. That made it a tough run.

Diana: So glad you are having fun with your girls. :D I was only teasin' about the heavier bell. You'll know when you need to up the weight! Enjoy today's work out. :)

Hey there ladies !

Been doing computer work for a bit and figure if I don't don my workout clothing soon I'll never get there, again . . .

Just got invited to a nephew's BDay dinner - that will be cutting my day a bit shorter than expected ! Oh well, family time is precious.

Wendy - you ran two days in a row? Run Wendy Run ! When are you starting your mary training? Have fun at your last and final Xmas today. :p

Diana - Glad the girls warmed up after a bit. It's hard for the little ones to remember, but it won't be long before you will be remembered every time they see you ! Enjoy your day with them.

As far as the advice in transitioning the teens into adults - I just tried to let them count on me less and less for $ and for taking care of them. Once they started not putting clothes in the hamper (they were still in elementary school) I made them do their own laundry. When we moved into this house - I stopped cleaning their rooms and made them keep the door closed. Stopped putting their dishes in the dishwasher, etc. You get the picture. And most importantly, the $ factor, which is a hard one. But you supply their needs while they live with you, then they can supply their wants. A few times I have bailed them all out - but it had to be critical. No car for transportation to work so I helped with a loan, car impounded and needed for work - I loaned a couple hundred $ - but last time DD said she had no $ for a security deposit (and she smokes like crazy) I told her she needed to get into college and get a career that would support her more than just short term. She worked it out so I didn't have to bail her out, but I would have if it got real hard for her. We are slowly progressing there. DS who just moved out has just switched parents homes :)confused: but is "claiming", once again, that he will start school). It all boils down to "tough love" and slowly pushing them into adulthood by doing less for them. That is the hard part for a mother !;)

Plus, I have always talked to them about budgeting, how much things cost (without getting into personal issues) and tried to get them used to the idea of expenses. It all you can do - pass on the information - and eventually they will learn. I think they listen even if they don't always act it out until they have to.

And, recently they will call for advice and opinions. That tells you they trust you and you then have the opportunity to teach or spread your wisdom. I always tell them to listen to anything anybody has to say, weigh it, keep what you want and discard what you don't want. That is the way I have lived my life. And I am forever thankful (not at the time ) that my father pulled me along when he fixed things around the house, on the car, around the yard, etc. He also lectured us (and I do mean lectured !) on insurance, payments, car expenses, health insurance, etc. That left me very well prepared for life. I have tried using that as a model with my kids.

Not sure if that is anything different than you are doing now, but that is what I have done. And suffice it to say, that some kids don't want anything other than the basics so maybe working isn't necessary for them. Eventually mine realized they wanted things their friends parents just gave them - I made them earn their own $ and think that taught them.

I do, however, do little things here and there when I choose to such as when I see them I'll take them shopping at Costco, or send them a little something that I found for them. Then it isn't like I am supporting them, just giving of myself on my own terms when I can.

OK - that was long . . . :p

Off to hit the TM and CCPP, not sure about the bonus ?

Have a nice day - we have sun but it will only be in the 50's.

Hey Girls,

I finished my sweatfest with Cathe this morning and ate my standard breakfast. After showering and getting ready to head to MIL's I had 2 handfuls of peanuts. I should've kept it to one but am still working on cleaning up the diet.

Jacque-thanks for the info. We basically do the same thing. We aren't charging oldest DS rent since he has to send money to Amanda for the girls every month and I think that is more important. But there will come a time when he will be out on his own and will have to find his way in the world. Since DS #2 isn't working I expect more of him around the house. He has such a negative attitude about everything and I think he does it just to pi$$ me off. Poor DS #3, he's only 12 but the older boys remind him that pretty soon he'll be the only one here and he will have to do everything. Have a great run.

Off to visit my grandbaby girlies!!!

Hey girls

Glad to hear everyone had a great Christmas. I have been on the go since Christmas eve and haven't even opened my laptop in what feels like days. Plus, we had a sort of blizzard move thru and lost internet for a while.:( I almost didn't workout today b/c I was afraid we were going to lose power long term but later this afternoon things started to quiet down so I did IMAX2. I wanted to do something fun.:D I did CCPP yesterday, without the bonus. I just don't need the bonus with that workout.....after 7 miles and 700 calories, I am spent.

So I tried the KB clinic 1 on Christmas and just did a few segments of Empire State b/c I was limited on time. I didn't think it was too bad, but about a day and a half later my right shoulder started hurting like heck. I thought I just pinched a nerve laying in bed since I am a side sleeper, but after reading posts in the OF it seems several people get DOMS several days after the KB workouts. So, I'm not sure if that was it, or if I just slept on it wrong. When practicing some of the moves as described in the clinic DVD, I did mostly the right side since I am a rightie. Maybe those lifts did it??? Not sure, but I will try the KB workout early this week when my shoulder quits achin. I'll make sure I do both sides and see what that does.
I shopped all day on Friday and got a few deals but I didn't have time to workout. So that was my rest day for the week. The eats have been terrible but I'm not really feeling like jello yet so I guess it's not the end of the world. After the holidays I will get serious again. We have another Christmas dinner tonight at FIL's and then we will probably go out for New Years. We had pizza last night along with a few CABs while we watched Night at the Museum. That was a cute show. It was the first time we sat at home as a family and watched a show in it's entirety in a very long time.

Wendy - So you did IMAX3 blasts again? Woooohooooo! Glad you are getting your money's worth out of that DVD. Did it take your breath away?
I was having some CABs with you yesterday but just didn't know it. *lol* Sorry bout that.....I didn't even crack open the laptop yesterday which is very unlike me.
Good job on that run today.

Diana - Glad you like the KB's. I can't wait to try Providence. Have you tried it yet? What size KB's did you get?
What do you think of Chalene Extreme? I have to admit, the OF discussion about it now has me intrigued. Although, I have enough to keep me busy for quite sometime. Still, I kinda like the fact that they are short workouts.
Rockband 2 huh? The boys wanted that and the new GH. I got them the new GH and Cody and I played a bit last night. I suck. LOL! They have been playing that thing since Christmas! I have to kick them off in order to workout but other than that, they are keeping that TV in the basement busy for sure.
So glad the grandbabies finally made it to your house. I'm sure you are taking advantage of your time with them.:)

Jen - Oooooo - Wii Fit. What a great gift! I like the Wii sports too and have broke a sweat playing tennis and boxing.

Laura - I'm sure you are enjoying your vacation, although so far, looks like a working one. I got my X-mas stuff all taken care of on Saturday too. It's unlike me not to procrastinate it but I got everything boxed up and put away in one day! A new record for me. I just didn't want it hanging over my head the whole weekend ya know?
So did you get hit with the storms? We had wacky weather too. Lots of snow on Christmas eve, quiet on Christmas and Friday and then lots of melting and heavy RAIN yesterday. Today I woke up today to a blizzard outside. Michigan is notorious for wacky weather, but this is strange even for us.
So how long will you be in Biloxi?

Jacque - Thanks for the heads up in the OF about the target sale. I'm really eyeing that 25# bell. Is $51 a good buy for that? Anyone know?
I'm also looking to get a new exercise bike but not sure if I want a spin bike, recumbant, or regular upright bike. So many decisions! I may post in the OF about that and see what I get. I'm thinking the next couple of weeks will be a good time to buy fitness stuff on sale.
Thanks for the X-mas card BTW.;)

OK - got a messy kitchen that I have to tackle before we head out for our last Christmas. I sure hope turkey is what's for dinner. I have to confess, I have been getting my fruits in, but veges have been very sparse in my diet the last few days. I need to stop the madness!!!!

Hello Ladies ...

OK .. I am the lazy one today .. it has been nonstop w/traffic .. hunters .. SIL killed another buck ... we need the meat .. DH has not killed one.. so we had to clean it .. then more hunters .. then our friends from LA showed up to camp .. so I have been busy .. and poor DH had to eat lunch in about 5 minutes and rush off to work .. it just calmed down .. and I am having me a CAB EARLY today ... Aunt is about to come over .. cleaned out my purses and shoes and my mom wants my throw aways .. so I have an entire bag to take to her .. so we will sit and visit for a while w/her. then about to make a CD of all the Christmas pics and take to mom and SIL .... I HAVE been a busy bee!!

but getting a head start on vacation and indulging today .. LOL .. got to get back and pack .. we will leave first thing in the morning .. will come back Wednesday though .. a mini-vacation .. that is all the gambling we will need .. there will be no w/o .. and the diet will be nonexistant .. back after WED will come back w/a vengence!!:)

Di ... I know you are one happy g-ma ... have fun w/the girls!

Wendy .. WTG on the w/o you got my slack today .. LOL!

Ang .. glad your Christmas was a good one .. the storms .. it has been raining off and on and it is HOT .. sticky hot .... VERY strange ... no powerful storms yet .. thank goodness ... but is gloomy out!! we are the exact opposite of a blizzard .. LOL!!! I was afraid the KB would do a number on the shoulders .. and mine would not handle it .. I am still icing and laying off w/o on it .. it is still stiff and still weak and aching at certain angles .. but hoping for the best ..

Jacque .. did ya get your w/o in or was time too short?? Mine sure got away from me today .. except I have been nonstop since I got outta bed this morning .. nothing I can do about it ... oh well .. let the vacation begin!!! LOL

OK girlies .. will try to check in later ... have a great day .. I will be away for a few days .. playing slots and dice .. and eating and enjoying CABS .. and hopefully some alone time w/DH;)... work out for me while I am gone!!:D

Back to say I did get in a run, but shortened it to 1/2 an hour. That was the warm up and Challenge 1 with a little of the steady state from Challenge 2. Was very happy as this is the first time in months my hip didn't hurt and I did both hills and speed work ! Yee Haw !

Diana - good job on the sweatfest and good eats. I know peanuts are high cal, but they are good cals ! ;) and for me, last a long time so keep the hunger pangs away. Good to hear DS1 is very responsible - that rates high in my book as mine can be irresponsible at times. #2 may just be testing as you say and poor little #3 ! It is so much easier to spoil the last one though so hopefully that will help make up for it !

Angie - sounds like you've been very busy. Glad the power stayed on for now and workouts have been going well. I checked out the KB's at Sports Authority and the 25# was normally $59.99 there. The Target ad showed up to 20# and the highest price was $39.99. Will be heading there in a few so will let you know what I find out.

Laura - Have a super time now that you have been running like crazy. I was thinking last night that even though I haven't been working out, I haven't hardly sat down at all so that will help burn a few extra calories ! And my shoulders get a workout from painting, nailing and sanding. Mini workouts are better than none I guess. It has helped keep my appetite down with no workouts too. Now we are off to eat hamburgers and hot dogs for nephew's BDay ! Oh well, tomorrow is the start of a new week !

Off to get the last minute Bday gift and checkout the KB's !

Back from Target and the heaviest they had for KB's was 20# for 39.99. I picked up the 20 and another 15 which was 31.99.

Now I sure hope DH bought me the AOS DVD's ! :p

See ya all in the AM !

Hey Ladies,

Back from visiting with the grandbabies. They are so adorable. Rallie Mae is a little bit unhappy around us, but miss Rylee is much more approachable and tolerable of all of us. I'm sure all this traveling and being around new people is a lot for them.

Angie-glad to hear you had a great Christmas! I only have one KB, 20#. I've done Empire State and much to my surprise I am not sore. Tomorrow I'm going to give Providence a try. I previewed a bit of it and it looks tough. My Chalene workouts haven't been delivered yet, but I'm expecting them tomorrow. I'm not sure how I'm going to incorporate all these new workouts. You and Laura have me considering taking down the Christmas tree tonight. I could have it all cleaned up in about an hour.

Laura-Sounds to me like you do your spring cleaning in the winter. I too need to get busy going through dressers and closets etc. My goal for this next week (after the girls are gone) is to tackle the basement. We have a lot of storage down there that we need to go through. We also want to move the elliptical from under the short ceiling to the tall ceiling side. It worked fine for me and amanda, but now that DH is using the elliptical it needs to be moved We will be rearranging my workout area and creating a somewhat family room area for the kids gaming TV at the opposite end of the basement. Have a fun trip.

nighty night ladies.
