Damage Control December....Saturday

Hi Girls.

My son had to come down and wake me up this morning! Every morning he calls for me from his bedroom because he is still supposed to get permission to come downstairs as I am nervous about him wandering around the house alone while DH and I are sleeping and unaware. Well y'day I was still working out at about 15 minutes past the time he usually gets up so I hear someone talking. I look at the door (which is cracked open) and see his shadow outside of it. He was calling for me but I couldn't hear him over the video so he came down and came to let me know he was awake. Then this morning he was apparently calling me. DH heard him and assumed I did too and was going to get up but I didn't so he came down and came right into the bedroom to let us know he was up and we didn't hear him. These are bittersweet moments for me....my little boy is growing up. *sniff sniff*

So I have some mild DOMS from y'day's work out. Today is supposed to be my rest day but I'd rather take it tmrw so I'm heading to the gym for a short run or some EXT time and then I'll take the Centergy class at 10:30. After that I have some shopping to do-which I dread, btw. Tonight DS is spending the night at my mom's as DH and I are going out to dinner and country dancing with a few friends of his. Should be fun. :D

happy Saturday

Morning girls

It's a gettin' busy this time of year, no? I was planning on making fish last night for dinner but before I started making dinner my BF's daughter called and needed a ride into town. So, I thought, hey, might as well go out for dinner. I had salmon, rice, green beans, roll, and salad. It was soooo good!

We got the tree up yesterday, but the boys kinda dropped the ball on decorating. So, I had planned on finishing that up today but now I think we will be going to some Christmas festivities this afternoon.....still up in the air though since the boys haven't 100% decided what they want to do. I'm OK with whatever. But, I do have to get my tush downstairs and get a workout in before we go. It's weird to be able to pick out anything I want and go for it! P90X is done!! Oh, decisions - decisions!!:D

We've got another storm that's supposed to hit today so we have the frig stocked with beer, hot chocolate ready to go, and laundry pretty much done. Oh yes, we are prepared! LOL!

Wendy - I really WANT to put that KB to use. I have a 20# and also a 8# medicine ball with a handle. I might go ahead and buy the core workout they have at the store for $15. I know a lot of people don't care for it but you seem to like it don't you? It is a pretty solid workout?
How was the wine last night?
Awwww on Joey. They do grow up fast!
Have fun tonight! I see CABs in your future.;)

Jacque - I love the oatmeal but it does start my day on carb and calorie overload. I don't like starting the day behind the 8 ball like that, but it does seem that I have better "control" thoughout the day when I start with oatmeal. I also love that it is sooooo tasty and filling.
So, welcome to winter!;) Brrrr is right. We're supposed to get into the teens next week. There will be no wondering if we will have a white Christmas......it's pretty much a given. There are snowmobilers going by the house today and we hardly ever have enough snow to do that before Christmas. Although, I'm sure area businesses are very much welcoming them with open arms. Our economy needs it bad!
Are you putting up the tree this weekend? Do you get any help with that?
Wow! The Sharks are having a wonderful season. Hope it continues on for you.

Laura - Ha - the kids aren't overly crazy with snow days, b/c they get to clean their rooms, catch up on homework, and help with chores. It sounds worse than it is.....all of that takes them about an hour to complete, but you'd think I asked them to do everything!! Cody was asking me the night before if I was working on Friday. I told him "no dear, I'd much rather spend the day with you." LOL! He was less than impressed with that response.
So you are going to get into the Fa-la-la-la-la spirit too? Somehow I can just picture you with a CAB in hand while going around the house hanging up decs. I'll bet the babies help you out tons.;)
So is DH's schedule back to normal? How's everything going at work for him since the "almost" strike? The mills up here are really struggling right now. Hope it is better down south.

Hi Diana, Shirl, DeeDee and Jen.

I have dragged my feet on the puter long enough this morning. I am coffee'd up and ready to go so I'd better get my workout in.

You all have a great day and hopefully I'll BBL.....

Angie

Good Morning Ladies !

Wendy - I have only done KB's once or twice and the video I have is Kettlebell Goddess. (I was looking for cheap at the time). Also have the Iron core #1 that came with my 15# KB from Target. I wasn't thrilled with no music and felt the instructor was 'dull'. Course that is solely MO, but you know what I am used to with Cathe and Coach Sean !:D Another thing that happened when I was doing the workouts was I was hitting my wrists with the KB when doing the overhead presses. What is the answer to keeping the bruises away?

I had some Italian meatball soup the other day too! Love the little pasta balls in it, but mine wasn't low sodium. :( Made some excellent butternut squash soup last night - posted the recipe on the Nutrition forum. Yummy !

Oh, DS growing up brings a tear to my eye as I watch my DS with his own son growing so quickly. Those times never come back, but you will remember them always. <<< sniff, sniff>>>.

Have fun tonight - kick those cowboy boots high into the air, huh? :D

Laura - the Sharks are sure kickin' some booty this year - think the combo of last year's coach and this one, in addition to some of the younger players maturing a bit is the answer for us. Hope your coach can get the team together soon ! Loved the bright red outfit ! LOL ! Not as bad as it could have been for sure.

Angie - Well lady - you WIN THE PRIZE for finishing P90X around here ! I think some of us are barely finishing month long rotations, let alone 12 weeks ! Though I am very very anxious for STS to get here and to have 12 weeks of DIFFERENT workouts ! Sure hope that keeps me on track.

Sounds like lots of holiday fun going on for you. I love being in the mood to just do whatever comes up and not feel like I should be doing something else. (Like now when I am hardly cleaning since I am painting and doing baseboards, etc. !). Trying to figure when to get a tree, but now that Xmas is somewhere else, may do it this weekend. No one around to help me so I have streamlined it quite a bit these days. A couple years ago I bought some poinsettia plants in various colors, cut them apart, and toss them in the tree here and there for a quick dash of color. Then fill in with the balls and a couple other decos and I'm done. Usually takes about an evening. Went color coordinated with red and gold. Without kids around I have totally toned down the decorating, but will go hog wild whenever the family is coming over for Xmas dinner - may possibly be next year since I made it out of the lineup this year !:D

Still unbelievable how the Sharks are winning, but now it is going to get very tough as the teams are coming into the games with nothing to lose. And I just found out that I'll be on an overnighter in two weeks when we play the Red Wings ! Boss checked that I wasn't going, but guess he figured I would be fine if I didn't see the away game? WTH was he thinking?

Today is KPC or 60 min of cardio for me. Am itching to get more done on the house and have a hockey game tonight so hopefully I fit it all in. Need to hit the stores first too - may just run out of time somewhere along the line. BUT, found out Xmas is not here so the pressure for that is off me ! WOO HOO ! ! ! !

OK - computer time is over and it is off to get started on the "to do's" for today.

Hey to all who haven't made it yet. Enjoy the day !

Fly by post for now. Hope to make it back later with personals.

My work out this morning was a 35 minute treadmill run. I wasn't focused on speed so I was taking it a bit slower then usual. I ran at inclines of 1, 2 and 3% for 5 mins each and then took it down to a walk up a 10% hill for 1.50-2 mins. After that I repeated the 1,2 and 3% inclines for 5 mins each but upped my speed by .2. Then another 1.5-2 mins of hill walking but now on a 12% incline. After that I ran it out for a very short time at my starting speed until I hit the 3.25 mile mark. That left me just enough time to gather my things for the class. :)

I forgot to post my final eats from last night. After dinner I had my 1/2 glass of wine and then I had a 1/2 cup cottage cheese on 2 wafercrisp crackers before turning in.

This morning's breakfast was oatmeal with 1/2 sc protein powder, some splenda and a few slices of banana. Lunch after the gym was the other half of the italian wedding soup from the other night and a yummy salad with a piece of dark chocolate for dessert. MMM MMM good! :)

I have alot to do before heading out tonight so I must skedaddle for now....

Hope everyone has a nice afternoon and I'll pop back in later if I can!

Toodles!:)

Just a quickie for me since I gotta get some presents taken care of before the rug rats get home from Grandmas house.:p

I decided on IMAX2 to celebrate the end of the X, at least for a while. It was a nice calorie burn since I will probably have pizza and beer tonight. Now I'd better figure out what I'm gonna do next workout wise. I haven't been in the workout manager yet but I'd better get familiar with it so I can start those 1RM's.

Hiya Jacque - I'll BBL for personals.....

Angie

Back again......

The pizza was yummy. I only had 2 slices so it wasn't complete chaos. I did have a few beers too though.:p

Wendy - Glad you got that workout in so that you can enjoy your rest day tomorrow. Have fun kickin up your heels tonight.:)

Jacque - I'm anxious to get STS too. I just can't stop thinkin' bout it! LOL! I like the fact that it is only a 3 day per week commitment and the other days are up to us. It'll be awesome.
I love your poinsettia idea with the tree. It sounds beautiful. You must be a creative and decorative soul. I wish I were....but I'm not so much.
So did you do KPC or decide on something else?
So nice that you don't have the stress of a big Christmas at your house. Don't get me wrong, I know it can be lots o fun, but it is stressful nonetheless. It's nice to have some quiet and relaxing time at home to just sit and soak it all in. This time of year seems to go by in such a whirrrr......
Will you be able to catch the RW game while you are away on TV? Although, I'd bet that would make a pretty late night for you on the road huh?
Have fun with your hockey team tonight.;)

I'm off to a Christmas party downstate tomorrow so I probably won't be popping in until later on or Monday.

Have a great Sunday!

Angie
