Daily facial moisturizer w/ SPF -- what do you use?

Hi Nancy,

I soooo agree with Dr. Denese about the dangers of the sun!

I have also heard some dermatologists state that tanning beds are more dangerous than the sun itself.

I would not get into a tanning bed for any amount of money.

But I am still confused about the SPF of a day cream and a foundation with SPF cancelling one another out.

I have always read that the highest SPF from the product will be the maximum SPF. So if you use a SPF 40 day cream and a SPF 15 foundation, you will not get an SPF of 55; just 40.

I am always reading about skin care and anti aging.

Theories may vary, but the one thing that all we know about suntans go: They are dangerous and aging.

People used to make fun of me for having fair skin and never tanning.

Now I am the one having the last laugh!

Ellen,

Regenrist is excellent! I got a sample in the mail and tried it.

After trying it, I went and bought a jar just last week!

I am using the deep treatment cream without the SPF since I use foundation and neck and chest creams with the SPF I desire.

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer™ Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 70 is the only sunscreen that is not oily on me then i put a foundation on top of that that has no spf on top of that:) got it from cvs for 9 dollars :D yes all sunscreens make my face look shiny too except this one and i tryed most of them

I'm obviously biased but I have had great results with Arbonne skin care (which is precisely why I do 'the business') We also offer an entire "BeforeSun" line for face and body, in addition to the daily moisturizer the other Cathe member mentioned from the RE9 anti-aging line.

Feel free to email me with questions.

And no, SPFs from different products cannot cancel each other out nor can they add up to offer exponential protection.

*Just be sure to put whatever SPF you use on your face, but also on your neck and chest plus arms/hands which also show signs of aging/sun damage early.

Amy, I apologize. My hormones are causing me to become forgetful lately, and I often can't find the word I'm looking for. "Cancel out" was a VERY poor choice, and it was not what I meant. All I read in Dr. Denese's book was that the two products may DILUTE each other to some extent, NOT that there would be no benefit. I apologize to everyone for the confusion.

I use Clinique SuperDefense SPF 25 for oily skin - it's light, not at all greasy, fragrance free. No complaints. I've tried tons of other brands - Neutrogena, Loreal, etc. But this one is my favorite so far. It's expensive, but a little goes a long way - it lasts a long time. I've been using the same jar for about 5 months, and still have plenty left. :)

I was using clinique super defense as Emily mentioned.

I do have Rosacea and have searched for a physical only sunblock. Clinique City block SPF 25 works well, but even better is:

MD Skin Care(in orange bottle) SPF 30.

I use it as my moisturizer daily in the out door months. It has vitamins and other beneficial non chemical ingredients in it that really seem to work nicely on my skin. I would google it to find a local distributor.
