Hi Everyone,

Today I did RWH Upper Body Circuit - it really is like supercuts/flextrain with less leg work. I really enjoyed it. I added on a 4 minute tabata.

Annette - PA is Pennsylvania? whoa. I don't know why I thought you were in Arkansas.

Aquagirl - no accent? See how little I know about the US?

Henriette - you are amazing working out after a long day. Good for you.

I wonder what happened to Sandy? I hope she is ok. I know she had some health issues which I hope have been resolved.

Mornin Ceci, great workout again! RWH UB Ct looks real tough!!

We're thinking of you Sandy! Last we spoke here, yes, she has been dealing with pain and discomfort, especially neck disc issues if I remember it properly. And has been getting things tested.

Aquagirl, glad you are enjoying your Fit Tower ......it does the body good to branch out into different things is my attitude!

This morning I just did a 15 minute Suzanne Bowen mat Upper Body section and a lot of my own deep stretching/restorative yoga. I am usually tender after shadow boxing with weighted gloves. Really have a good time with it, though! And it seems to help to keep my sides/obliques trim!

Will be catching up with everyone when I pop in this evening to read your workouts. :)
 
Hi gals,

Today I did Cathe's ICE Rock Em Sock Em Kickbox then went to the gym for an hour of weight work. Trying to take it easy on my back.

Yesterday I found another summer dress that fit and I got it for dirt cheap on clearance. It was a $70 dress that I got for $17.49!! Whoohooo!

Hi Girls,

I ended up having a rest day today. My legs are feeling yesterday's w/o big time... But the real problem is that my shin splints are back. [emoji24]

I gave 2 bball trainings this afternoon, then went for a half hour walk tonight and afterwards I had planned to w/o but my shins were on fire and I just wanted to take it easy.

Hope to be back at it tomorrow, but definitely no more playing basketball myself.
 
Oh, so sorry Annette & Henriette, you are having to deal with pain today. Not fun at all!!

Annette, I have experience with that thoracic pain/stiffness & although you didn't ask me :D, I want to ask you to take it easy ....even with boxing moves. I know you are way more of a gym person than I, but just sharing what I find helps.
1. Using a flexible (tennis ball is too hard for that area) ball like a small dog toy ball and massage up a down on the sides of the spine against a wall. It is great to soften the scar tissue or simply hard tension knots. If you have scar tissue, it will really hurt, but feel way better afterwards. If it is tension knots, it will just burn a bit.

  • Stand in a squatting position facing a doorway and grab the side of the doorway with your right hand. Squat down toward the ground until your knees form a 90 degree angle. Concentrate the stretch on the right lat and hold for 15-30 seconds. Repeat with the left lat.

I know a lot of people who also do well (and it is inexpensive) with kinesiology taping on the rhomboid muscles. It does not work for me as I have scoliosis, but for temporary strain that you are not wanting to turn into a chronic issue, I think it may be very helpful.

You have been doing some very impressive high volume chest presses lately, so also look at if you are counter-moving this enough. Does your gym have those cable pulleys? I would try using those for wide rows after a chest press set & also doing those T's & W's on the stability ball.
Also, remember scapular stabilization. I think a lot of people forget this. There are some excellent (mainly rehab pilates) resources online that discuss this in detail.

Henriette, sounds like you've had shin problems in the past. What helps for you? I've had issues with Extensor Hallucis Longus pain which keeps coming back.
