Daily check in tuesday october 3, 2017

Hi Everyone,

Great learning about everyone. I took a rest day yesterday.

Missy - I hope you feel better and that you find a job. I was once unemployed for a full year!!!! I temped but just couldn't land a job (I actually didn't even get interviews). That was 1996 - a tough year for me as I recall. I wish you the best of luck. Something will give, somehow.

I think most of you know that I am a Registered Social Worker and work with mainly street involved individuals. I am also in private practice as a counsellor, mainly helping people work through anxiety - that's my area.

Today I did Daily burn - a double cardio/weight workout (they are only 20-30 minutes each).

I hope you all squeeze in a great workout today.

P. S. sorry to invade the thread but I just can't stop thinking about Las Vegas. Such a senseless tragedy. The parents of a Canadian killed said "he was our only child". hard to process this stuff.

Good morning girls. Yes Ceci, such a terrible tragedy in LV. Very senseless, and such a loss.

Question of the day: what is your all time favorite song or songs? I have a tie between 2: Dancing in the dark
By Bruce Springsteen and Let's spend the night together by the Rolling Stones. The music & tempo in both of these songs Just lift my spirits and make me feel good!

Took rest day yesterday. Hope to do something tonight if possible.

I agree about Las Vegas. It's just unbelievable how bad it's gotten. What will it take to do something about gun control? It's so sad. Then the sudden death of Tom Petty. Plus...on a personal note- a friend of my daughter's was shot and killed by his girlfriend. They had 2 kids together. He was 30. I grew up w/ his mother. His name was Chris and he was such a nice young man, it's absolutely senseless. I can't imagine the horror his family is going through. Like the people in Vegas who went to a concert to have a good time and never came home. I just can't stand it.

I'm switching gears now...my favorite song right now is Bruno Mars "Uptown funk". It always makes me want to move in a happy way. Perhaps I'll listen to it today. My workout was Patrick Goudeau Hard work conditioning 24/7.

Sorry to be a downer. It's been ugly lately.

I think everybody is a little shell shocked from the event in Vegas. So tragic and unnecessary. So sad.

Peg, sorry about your daughter's friend. That's horrible. Prayers for his family.

I like Uptown Funk too! I have it in my favorite hits playlist. I'm also loving 'Shape of You' by Ed Sheeren. I've had some of Foster the People's tunes in my favorites list for a few years now, 'Houdini' and 'Pumped up Kicks.'

I'm a Beatles fan too.

A fun fact, my husband's dad owned a music supplier business when he was growing up and he got backstage passes and met a ton of musicians. Everybody from Elton John to Crosby Still and Nash. He never got autographs, out of respect, but it's cool that he had those experiences. He didn't ever meet the Beatles, however :)

Still coughing like crazy. I am on the mend. I don't think I'll be working out until next week.

Hi gals ,

Yes, another senseless shooting.[emoji52] Thankfully our friend who lives in Vegas is ok.

Today I did the warm up, punches and kicks off of Powerstrikes Kickboxing. Then I practiced both of my short workouts for my class the cardio only portion. One is aerobics and the other is kickboxing both are about 23 minutes each of cardio then there would be weights after but I don't practice that.

I am sore from yesterday's workout.

As far as music goes I like older stuff from 60's through to disco, along with contemporary Christian music.

Have a great day and workout![emoji16]

:( I know. We have been reading about & thinking about the gun massacre in Las Vegas as well. What a tragedy. The photos are really too much. My cousins who were quite young at the time saw the massacre in San Diego in the early 80's. They will never,
never forget it. How many massacres have there been since? Too many to count.
Oh, Peg, that is so terrible to hear. Geez, I don't know what to say only that I hope your daughter can deal with it in time. His family must be in shock.

Missy, you get better!

I have a lot of fave songs. I love FireBall-by Deep Purple, I listen to a lot of Eric Clapton as well as Classical like Schoenberg, Chopin etc.
Let's spend the night together by the Rolling Stones.
You mean Let's Spend Some Time Together. Hahaa

Hi ladies!

What happened in Las Vegas really is a tragedy and completely senseless. Unfortunately with shootings, bombings etc happening more and more often many of us will think twice before attending events. I mean a country music festival? Can't say people attending them should be targeted for any reason... all so senseless.

Peg - so sorry to hear about Chris. That is really sad. My thoughts go out to his family and loved ones.

Continuing on a sad note, today was my BIL's cremation, so we all had the day off work and school to attend it. A very emotional and draining day. His wife was holding up pretty well and so were the kids until during the service where some songs he had picked out were played and a couple of eulogies. So said... and watching his kids mourn their father. It's been less than a year since he was diagnosed, so it all went far too quickly.

This morning before we left I managed a short but intense workout. I did the bonus step from KCM strength and stamina, only 22 minutes but boy oh boy what a workout. It really is time to move on to calmer workouts, despite these intense ones being so much fun.

Question of the day... impossible for me to answer. I like a wide variety of music, pop, dance, hip hop, rock 'n roll, contemporary Christian and I love Country music. I listen to Apple Music practically all day while working, unless I am in meetings or training some one, so I like to switch it up depending on my mood.

Good evening girls, hope all is well. I just finished a blender mix of Strong & Sweaty/X-train Total Body, 30 min.

No, Elsie, I did mean "Let's spend the night together" :). It's an oldie but a goody! I just love the music, whenever
I'm on my treadmill and that song comes on, I walk like a speed demon! And sing my little heart out! :)

Oh Missy, I love the Beatles too, grew up to them! I don't think there is Beatles song that I don't love....

Have a good & safe night. Hope you can get some rest, Elsie.
