Daily Check In: Thursday, June 23, 2005

Good morning,

This morning I did Rhythmic Step, and Basic Step abs add-on. My legs were still toast from LL yesterday, so RS felt surprisingly gruelling. I modified much of the impact, and still worked up quite a sweat.

Laurie - thanks for telling me about your 3 jobs. You sound like you enjoy your work very much. I think I remember the building you're working in, the spa one. Kingston has beautiful architecture; I miss that here in Edmonton. You can't find a brick house to save your life. Poor Paris has quite the UTI :( It takes her about 25 minutes of sitting on the toilet, crying, before she'll finally go pee, because she's so scared of the pain. I'm hoping the antibiotics have kicked in by this morning, and she'll have a better day than yesterday. Cool that you have the 25# dumbell! I was using one for those same exercises, until a few months ago. And like you, every time I do those pullovers I feel kind of nervous. How's your ankle?

Kim - did you manage to motivate yourself yesterday? When I get that way, I do what Shelley mentioned. I also pick my most favourite workout, regardless of what I "should" be doing for the day. Anything is better than nothing, in my book.

Tammy - running and KM blasts! Wow! Quite a workout!

Wendy - my goodness, what kind of bug was this?

Jane - I can see how LM and ME on consecutive days would really challenge the lower body. Good work!! Do you have KPC or KM? That would be my suggestion for today; a good cardio workout that gets you off the step for a day.

Becky - good luck with that root canal!!! Last fall I had a miscarriage. Two weeks after the miscarriage an ultrasound showed that there was still some tissue in my uterus that needed to be removed surgically (D&C). I was prepared to go in for the surgery on the Saturday morning, so on Friday morning I got up at 5am, and did IMAX intervals 1-5, and Leaner Legs. I had just finished my workout and was on the verge of gulping down a huge cup of water when my doctor phoned and told me they wanted to do the surgery that very day. I was instructed to not eat or drink another thing. I pleaded to be able to drink my water (I was quite dehydrated!), but she said "no, no, no!!". So I didn't get another thing in my system until 4pm that day. Believe me, if I had known I'd be going under a general anasthetic that day, I'd never had done a workout in the morning!

Kali - excellent job on the 3lbs, and on doing the CW core work! I love that segment.

Judy - enjoy all your celebrations!

Wendy - I can't speak highly enough about SB! Enjoy! :)

Foodie Sue - glad you had so much good energy today! BC is fun!

Suzanne went off to Victoria a couple of weeks ago, and we haven't heard from her since. I hope it's because she's enjoying herself so much. I know she usually checks in, regardless of where she is.

Have a great day everyone.
Sandra

Another hot Day in Denver-94 yesterday and suppose to be the same today! I am starting to wish for fall. I could turn the ac on but it always makes me feel like I am getting a cold. SO I turn it on for a bit then turn it off. I did gymstyle legs last night and I was dripping wet! I got my run in yesterday and plan to do another one today. Then it will be an upperbody workout later and some ab work. After thinking My hips were getting bigger yesterday I realized with help from the nice people here that I just need to measure and go also go by how my clothes feel. And to be honest they feel smaller in the waist so I think it's an illusion that makes my hips look bigger. Ok sorry enough obsessing. As long as I fit into my 4/6 I will focus on being happy. I have been a two but that was after a car accident and I looked sick. SO i just need to learn to be happy with me now!

Becky-I hate the dentist and really feel for you. My heart races just going in there!

Great job on your workouts ladies!

Terri

Morning all. Decided to stay in bed with DH this morning. Will have to make up for it tonight. I have PUB back and biceps plus abs on the schedule for this evening.
Dreadful weather this morning. It's already extremely hot and humid.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Katie

Hey Sandra.... I have KM and that is a great w/o. Have only done it once and it fried my upper body and lats. I was sore for days!! I want to do PUB tomorrow and I don't think that'd be possible if I did KM today.:)

I am learning this stuff... slowly but surely....

I may schedule KM for Sunday. You've made me want to do that w/o again.

Good morning fitness beauties!

I did Gauntlet today. I haven't done it in a while and I feel good and fried...ahhh. Added C&W core work at the end. Happy Thursday everyone.

Hi Everybody!
I'm back from the dentist and having the root canal. Thank you so much for all your encouragement and stories. OH Sandra, I feel for you! I just think how thirsty I am after a workout and I don't know how you didn't drink that water!!!!
As it is, I didn't eat or drink and they didn't put me to sleep. But I guess it's better safe than sorry.
It went along just fine until it was over & and dentist showed me the xray taken after it was done. He said "it went fine and everything's okay but see this? (pointing to a line on the xray) thats a file tip!" It broke off and was left in! He swears it won't cause a problem, but..........ughhhhhh that happened to my mom years ago and she ended up losing the tooth! Just happened AGAIN to her a few months ago and so far, she hasn't had any problems! Must run in the family to have that happen! I wonder how common it is?
Well anyway....I took my advil and now maybe I'll get some yogurt or something else soft. I think a little later I'll tackle S & H biceps and triceps.
Hope everyone's having a great day!
Thanks again for the support, I really was nervous, so that was very helpful.:)

You ladies did some great workouts.

For me it was Paint Max today. I painted 8 doors plus a small double door (don't know what you call those actually). I started out doing only four in my hallway, but then I decided that as long as I was going to be painting I might as well paint every door in the house. I love to paint, but I hate all the prep work, you know, sanding, cleaning, etc.

I'm just glad I don't have any doors on my second floor (yet), and no kitchen door. Meaning I haven't worked out yet. It's too hot now: 30C (90F). Even hottere tomorrow. It will cool off a little after the weekend. It's undutch weather!! I think global warming is catching up with us.

Sandra,

It was a hornet I think. YUCK! I think we have a nest nearby as it's like the 3rd one we've had in the house so far...fortunately DH was home to kill the other 2 though.

Bugs that are green in color, lady bugs and lightening bugs are cool with me but any other bug skeeves me and/or scares me! I probably go overboard with it but I can't help it. When I have to kill anything beyond an ant or a fly I get all wierded out and at the same time I can't leave it to roam in my house either...My mom won't kill a spider if she finds one in her house because she says it's good cause it eats other bugs. I just can't do it! When I lived there I would make her kill the spiders unless it was in HER room, then she could leave them there as long as she liked...

GROSS! x(

Hey All: Today was teaching my classes at the gym, we ALL worked very hard. I'm starting to bandy about the idea of quitting in the fall. I love it but find I don't have the time to put my choreography together like I did before and would like to spend more time in clinic and at the spa, we'll see.

Becky glad you survived your root canal, I don't ever want another but can honestly say that it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Wendy, bugs make me feel primal too, they creep me out big time. My SIL is an entomologist (bug scientist) and when my kids were little and getting familiar with her bug collection (which ironically was eaten by bugs!) she and I were encouraging them to stroke a live giant cockroaches legs to make it hiss and she said "Mommy first.." I faced my fears but it was soooo hard. I'm a little less afraid now but not much. Thanks for the increasing my vocabulary, I have never heard the word 'skeeves' before, lol.

Sandra, sorry about Paris poor Doll! Hopefully she mends quickly. My ankle is okay, no sitting in 1/2 lotus for me though and my lunges with right leg back aren't very deep. Sounds like you had a good workout, I don't have RS on DVD and no VCR in my workout space and I'm kind of missing it, (the workout, not the music:p ). It'll feel fresh when I decide whether to get a TV/VCR or replace my VHS workouts. Money tree's a bit barren these days, those darn kids are blooming expensive!:)

Enjoy your day EVERYONE!!

Take Care
Laurie:)

Just finished MIC. Is it me or does this thing just seem two hours long? I checked my calendar and I haven't done MIC since the first of April, I've been too busy with my new IMAX2 and other new w/o's but this thing is tough!!!

70 minutes w/o

AHR 146, MHR 171, calories 586

I am considering getting a home defibrillator and strapping it on below my HRM.:p

Terri, I have the VHS. I don't have the Rhythmic Step DVD that has this one it. I'd love to have it though.

HC Xtreme - Interval Circuit:

OK, did it this morning. This is a great workout! Much more like the terminator workouts. It was a lot of fun, and the time flew by. Of course it helps that I love HSC and IM#3.

I also like the Hi/Lo HC Xtreme workout and I am still on the fence about IB + Legs. Of course both of these have the KM Blasts in them and we all know how I feel about them!

Tammy

Jane -

I found the third workout to be the hardest for me. It is definitely one I will try again though, but maybe when I'm not so tired...LOL!
