Hi ladies,

To recap: 1 week ago today, I woke up to my heart racing which led to shortness of breath and me eventually finding that my blood pressure was bottoming out.

After trying a few things, to no avail any kind of activity sent my breathing into panic mode with the shortness of breath. Mind you I had gone to the gym the day before.

I called my husband right before 2 and as soon as he heard my voice he knew something was wrong. He left work immediately to come home.

I dressed while I waited and he took me to our local ER by 3. At the ER they did a chest xray, bloodwork and a CAT scan. The CAT scan showed that I had multiple bilateral pulmonary blood clots ie embolisms. Because heparin was advised they started a second IV line.

In the bloodwork, they found that my heart enzyme was high possibly indicating a secondary heart attack brought on by the embolisms.

Our local hospital was not able to give me the care I needed so they transferred me to a larger hospital in a nearby city.

Once there they did a lower body sonogram to check for clots in my legs. They found a deep vein thrombosis in the back of my left knee, which is most likely where the lung clots came from.

I was transferred to a different floor and spent 3 days in the hospital. Heparin was stopped and Eliquis was started. They ruled out a secondary heart attack but since the echocardiogram showed more damage to my heart than originally thought, I have to follow up with a cardiologist. Your heart gets damaged while it is trying to compensate for the fact that it is beating so fast while dealing with the clot that kind of blocks the heart's ability to pump blood sufficiently.

I was discharged after the echocardiogram was read by the doctor on Monday.

I was discharged on 3 new meds. 2 meds are to lower my heart rate and blood pressure so my heart doesn't have to work so hard while it is healing. Last med is the blood thinner.

That's it.

Today for my modified workout I did the Taebo Express Punches and Knees which was 12 minutes.

Then I did Leslie Sansome's 1 mile walk off her 5 Mile workout DVD it was 21 minutes.

Then I finished with 15 minutes of floorwork for abs, legs and glutes.

That's it. Light workout for me.

Hope that answers everyone's questions about my hospital stay.

Annette, your workout today is right up my alley! Yes, indeed, it was a light one for you,
but you actually did more than I do a lot of time. :). Just don’t overdo it :)
