Cutting Down on Cardio?

Question for the "educated crowd"...

I usually do 5 or 6 days per week of Cathe Cardio plus 3 days of Cathe Weight Work, but am thinking of cutting down on the cardio and using the extra time for more weight work (Lorrie's great variation on Marlene's Tank Top Rotation, for example). Can anyone share their experiences of cutting down cardio and upping weights? Did you find you gained weight and lost endurance? Or got too bulky and lost leanness?

Thanks!

I took the plunge about a month and a half ago and cut my cardio from 5 times per week to 3. I also increased the weight work to 3 times per week. My results were great - I went down a dress size in a vert short period of time and visibly started looking leaner. I guess everyone is different and you have to be prepared to experiment on yourself to see what works. For me (in spite of the fact that I am short with a full figure), heavy weight work and adequate cardio (not too much) is the only combination that seems to give me a slightly slimmer and leaner look.

Because of surgery and an injury this year--I had to cut back on cardio--and I was doing cardio 5 times a week. This increased my time for weight work--and yoga--and pilates. I don't think I've gained TOO much!!

I also used to do 5-6 days of cardio plus 2-3 days of weights. I never seemed to make much progress because my appetite was always so HUGE. I cut down to 3-4 cardios (2 of which are not Cathe), and heavy weight work. I have gone down a little in size, and have more muscle. This could be because I don't have this HUGE appetite I had when working more. But, it could be a combination of both too.

I've been doing 4 cardio and have recently upped my weight to 3 lower body and (3 gym upper body workouts). My results have been very good. I think when I was doing more cardio my body didnt have enough rest for the weight work.

Sounds like on this threatd we have all had good results with less than 6 days a week of cardio

Thanks for your input, everyone! I'm going to give it a try and see what happens. I'm reluctant to give up those extra cardios for fear of weight gain, but you all seem to have maintained just fine without pounding out those 6 days of cardios per week and by keeping up with your weight work!

Onward!!
