CTX...Is There Any Point??

I mean, is there anything in them that you can't get from the newer releases? I'm building my Cathe collection, but I'm not sure I'd want to buy it if it's been "superseded" but newer workouts.

And what about Pure Strength? Same thing?

I love CTX it is very versitile. You can use them as add on to a current workout, or combine the cardio for a full hour. I never use it as is. I probabley use some part of it once a week. I love CTX upper body Yowza I get gereat results.
Now Pure Strength seems a little dated to me I do not use it very much because I love the gym styles.

I completely agree that CTX is very versatile. I find myself reaching for CTX workouts frequently. I often use the cardio workouts as add-ons for shorter workouts (e.g., today I did Kelly Coffey's Step Boxing workout, then added on Step Intervals from CTX), or I combine a couple of them for one long workout, or if I am pressed for time, I do one as-is.

I also agree that the upper Body CTX is a great upper body workout.

There are just so many ways to use this series, and although Cathe has similar workouts, I don't feel that her newer workouts have made CTX redundant. It was a great purchase for me.

Hope this is helpful...

CTX was a great purchase for me, too. I find myself reaching for it at least once a week. It has an upper body section divided into 5 parts that are about 10 minutes long, and it has a great selection of AB routines. I really use it.

I agree that Pure Strength, while I have it and reach for it now and then, is not a "must have". I bought it years ago when Cathe had only a couple of weight workouts to chose from. Since then she has released more interesting and more challenging strength workouts. I don't think you need it.

CTX, on the other hand, is one I reach for frequently. The cardio is short but intense and I agree with others about the effectiveness of it's upper body work. I'd spend the money on this one again!

I have mixed feeliings about CTX. I love the concept, and the weight work is short but effective. However, if I do a rotation of the workouts, my knees start giving me trouble: too much step and too much impact (especially step + impact). I try to take some moves to low impact, but maybe I'm not doing that enough (I get caught up in the 'fun' factor).

I think PS is a good, solid series, but perhaps has been superceded by Gym Styles. However, if you want a good three-day split, PS, GS and S&H are the only three that Cathe has (unless I'm forgetting something?)

CTX still worth the money. Any of the cardios can be used as add ons. Two of them back to back makes for one incredible cardio session. the Leaner legs workouts is still tough, still fabulous and very quick and dirty and to my mind, has not been superceded. The CTX upper body work can be found elsewhere I suppose since it is largely endurance but it comes with every day's workout anyway so, use it!

Pure Strength has been replaced by GS series. Don't waste your money.

The impact issue: the impact work in the CTX cardios is not nearly as bad as any of the impact work in any of the Imaxes, two of which come later than CTX, nor than Kick Max, Drill Max, MB2 or Cardio Fusion which are Cathe's latest. Let's face it: unless Cathe specifically makes a low impact workout, like LIC and Low max, it will have a fair amount of impact in it. The decision to buy CTX based on the impact of the cardio is the same as the decision to buy any other cathe cardio, except LIC and Low Max basically.

I'll chime in here to say I agree with the advice you've gotten, especially what Clare said. I think CTX is worthwhile to have and find Leaner Legs one of the harder leg workouts. I think the GS series is better and more user-friendly/versatile than the PS series.

Once you get more familiar with the CTX workouts, you can really start using them to suit your exercise goals/tastes/preferences and time constraints for the week or day.
