Cross Fire -- Easy to Modify

exercise-lover

Cathlete
I did Cross Fire "Less Impact" premix first as soon as I received my DVDs, thinking with my creaky knees I wouldn't be able to do the "real" workout. During the premix I realized that a lot of the regular workout is present in the premix. So I decided to try the regular workout today and just modify what I didn't feel comfortable doing.

From what I learned doing the workouts in the Low Impact Series, I was able to substitute appropriately for any drills that had too much impact for me. I'd say, however, that 80% of the time I did just as Cathe and the crew were doing. I might not lift as much, but I got plenty of intensity. For example, during the firewalker tabata work I used the Slide and Glide discs and did regular jumping jacks adding intensity with my arms.

So, if you need low impact, don't be afraid of Cross Fire. Whether I do the Less Impact premix or the regular workout with modifications, I can see it's going to be one of my favorites!

Can't wait to try To the Max. . .

I had similar experience exercise-lover. My days of doing high-impact are past and I found Cross Fire easy to modify. Probably everytime I will do it, I will modify differently. When I didn't feel I was keeping my heart rate up, I used either my step, vest or hand weights, or used a combination of them to do the movements. I don't feel it was any less of a workout because I did it low impact and I enjoyed the workout.

I totally agree. I found it easy to modify where I needed to. It was still a fun and intense workout. I was so sweaty. I haven't tried TTM yet. I'm really looking forward to trying it since Athletic Training is one of my favorites.

This is reassuring news. I didn't preorder either Crossfire or To The Max because I feel "spoiled" by the Low Impact Series. Clips for both of the new programs look as though there's a lot of impact of the kind I need to avoid to save my knees. Please post comments about how readily you find that To The Max can be modified to reduce the impact. Thank you for sharing your experience and advice.
