i cried this morning when i allowed myself to realize this had happened. of all of the famous people in this world that i wanted to meet, it was steve irwin. what he has done for conservation and animals has been so incredible. i only hope that his wife and children will carry on his crusade to educate the world on the beauty that each and every animal brings to our planet. i have no doubt they will. every time i begin to think about it, i get tears in my eyes.
i do have to say that i am quite put off by some who have chosen this thread of remembering to share their distaste for some of steve's actions. making a statement such as "if you play with fire you get burned" has no place on this thread, and is, quite frankly, tasteless. this man did more for the future survival of animals than any of us could ever imagine and to insinuate that he exploited them is way off base. i was going to ignore these comments and let this go, but i just cant. i know everyone has a right to their own opion, and i am not trying to start anything here, but i had to get this off of my chest.
i am still in shock and so sad for his family and friends and for all of us who watched and learned so much from him. there will never be another one like him...
