Cathlete
Happy Saturday. It's a beautiful day here - cold right now, only 50 degrees. I think it's supposed to warm up to the mid 70's though. I will definitely run today.

I started thinking about the PUB + PH splits. I am wondering if I'm being a little over zealous. I may have to see how long those workouts will end up being. Maybe mix and match ME and MM or PH with MM or ME...

Need some expert (or even non-expert) thoughts.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend
Heather

Hi Heather!

I have no good advice for your weight combos. Off the top of my head, I'm not even sure what each specific muscle group exercises are in the total body workouts. Did you ever do Debbie's rotations? She did some great combinations of workouts to 'get ya good'. Check out her DEC 08 and JAN 09 Rotations!... Enjoy your run today! You're right, AWESOME weather, perfect for running!

If I'm lucky, I will get in a good Coremax today, otherwise , I have to bring my boys for their flu shots , which is right in the time I usually get in my Sat workout. So , if not, it will be an additional rest day. (Not REAL rest, since I'm awake for 26 hours straight with work tonight!).

Nora: Great cardio yesterday! How are you feeling lately? Sounds like things are better? The weather there must be nice!

Chris - I did one of her rotations 2 months ago. I think it was the Dec one. It included the 4DS workouts and I know she had you repeat a lot! LOL. That's where I got the notion to do those this week. Today I plan on doing Premix 10 which is triceps, chest and shoulders. I'll do it once through then repeat (per Debbie's suggestion). I've not really done much from the 4DS series. I found that they didn't seem that challenging - unless I repeated the exercises then I was fried.

Hope you get the coremax done. If not, sounds like you need the rest to get ready for your shift. Yikes!

Good Morning,

I did SM no equipment this morning. I am enjoying being with DH in the evenings so I have decided when I start working out again it will be in the am no more excuses just get up and get it done. We won't know anything on DD for at least 2 weeks they drew 7 tubes of blood and her blood pressure was already low before the drew.

Heather-enjoy whatever you decide.

Chris-maybe you can get your cardio in later today.

Everyone have a good day.

I lost another pound this week! Woo hoo!

Today was cardio and I chose Cardio Kicks. Had a great workout. I think that is Cathe's best kickboxing workout. I love the arm drills at the end.

HR STATS:
1 hr. total
7 minutes below zone
15 minutes in zone
38 minutes above zone
470 calories burned

Have a great weekend everyone! Tomorrow is my rest day!

Hello everyone!

Yesterday I did the cardio & weight premix from BM2 - it's a pretty good one. It was about 70min/463 calories if I remember correctly..?? Today I'm planning on a plyo routine with added hamstring work.
My youngest DD has had a stomache ache and threw up last night. So I slept with her. She's upstairs resting now. Needless to say, she will not be playing in her noon soccer game.
Great idea, Roxie, on working out in the morning. You'll definitely be able to enjoy your evenings with your husband.
Another pound, Debbie? Right on! And it seems like STS is agreeing with you so far? And that's a great calorie burn for an hour - I may have to look into getting that w/o.
Chris, I don't know how you do it. It's no wonder you get headaches every once in a while - you never get any consistent sleep! Hopefully you'll maybe get a nap in this afternoon???
Heather, enjoy your run. Sounds like a perfect day for it. Hopefully you'll figure out a rotation for yourself. Do you have the MIS/Imax/BodyMax dvd? There are so many w/o's you can splice together.
I went ahead and ordered STS yesterday. Used from Amazon. I've never bought a used workout before. Hopefully it will (it's supposed to be) in great condition. I guess I'd better start doing my 1RMs. I mentioned the series to my husband as perhaps a gift for the holidays (I've learned after 11 years subtle hints DO NOT work) and he acted like it was an outrageous amount of money. I won't go into the gory details, but I should be getting my STS this month, thanks to ME! I guess I can just look forward to getting ANOTHER robe from Victoria's Secret......
Good times....

Hey Again!

I did end up doing "a little something" after the flu shots this morning. I know it wasn't a nice long cardio, but i did do a 20 Minute Turbo Jam (Love the music in this one!) and then did Seg #3 of Coremax (with the Med and Stability Ball... tough one!!). Made me feel good to do something though...

Heather: Oh! I didn't realize you had done Debbie's rotation. Cool you're putting something together yourself. You can always try it , right?

Debbie
: WOO HOO on losing another lb!! Yes, STS seems to be doing you some good! Hmmmm Cardio Kicks is a favorite? I might look at the arm drills in it again, but I can remember DISliking all the hi/lo stuff in it. It didn't seem like a good KICKBOXING workout to me. Maybe I should check it out again!??!

Roxie: Nice on the SM today! That's nice you'll make your workouts to AMs to spend time with Hubby!! Very sweet! Scary stuff about your daughter though. How old is she?

Wendy: You are kicking BUTT on your workouts lately! Is that BM2 premix all upper body though? sorry to hear about your DD being sick. Hope no one else gets it!! Good for YOU for ordering STS! You deserve it! How bad is it really that you want to spend money on your HEALTH? And it's not like you're throwing all caution to the wind..this is a GOOD series, tried and true!! You'll love it! Now you get STS AND the robe!!! ;)

Reporting back. DH and I ran 4.5 miles. I did Premix 10 from 4DS twice through. My shoulders are fried! I don't feel like it was a great chest work though. I have noticed that when I do chest combined with shoulder and triceps, I am not able to lift as heavy. I need to remember this for future rotations.

Tomorrow I will do premix 9 which back and biceps twice through plus abs.

Wendy - I have bought a few of Cathe's DVDs from Ebay used and have not had any issues. I always read the seller's ratings though.

Sounds like everyone is working hard as usual!

Heather

Chris-she is almost 22 and now complaining of stomach pains.

Checking in -

Yes, everyone IS rockin' the workouts today. Good for you Chris for getting a w/o done today. And those ab workouts are all tough!
Nice run, Heather. And weights?! Good for you! Yep, I always enjoy working a single body part a day for that very reason - I want to work it GOOD!
I ended up doing a plyo routine I got from Figure Athlete:
5 min w/u on the TM
16 jumping lunges/8 jump squats/20 bw squats
rest 1 min/repeat twice
4 sets 12 reps DB deadlifts - 60# total
3 sets 40 walking lunges
Then I also went out to the garage and did 3 sets/8reps hamstring curls 32.5# (I think)
I also did AC pilates - like this one.
I cannot wait for my STS. I printed my 1RM sheets today - maybe I'll start them tomorrow. Thanks for the positive affirmation, Chris - I do totally deserve it. And there's always someone at the second-hand store looking for a good robe, right?
Roxie, keep us posted on your DD.
See ya!

Wendy - I did weights before I ran. I know I really shouldn't do both on the same day b/c something suffers. I wanted to focus on the weights at least. The run wasn't horrible, but it wasn't my best. If DH hadn't been with me, I would NOT have gone 4.5! LOL. Can't wait to hear what you think about STS.
