Good morning,

I am getting us started! I will go back to bad. Need more sleep:p

I will try to get a workout in tonight!

Have a good day!

Belinda - seeing as how it's the 14th, and I just noticed yesterday's thread said September, I'd say more sleep is in order! LOL!!! Just teasing you.

It's another dreary day here. I will be sooooo glad to see sunshine. I feel like it's been forever. I will do cardio today, just not sure if it'll be a run at the gym or step at home.

Happy Hump Day,
Heather

Good Morning,

Ok someone needs to kick me in the a** I have had no desire to workout and I really need to get some wt work done. I am babysitting my nephew tonite but only until 6:30 so I plan on doing KCMs Kickboxing and abs. Its cold wet and cloudy here today I guess fall or winter has officially hit. Had a stomache last nite and a headache so I didn't sleep well either.

Belinda-enjoy your sleep.

Heather-enjoy whatever cardio you choose.

Today I chose some yoga and stretching so I did two Karen Voight workouts. One was YogaSculpt and the other was the stretch routine from Yoga Focus.

My left hip flexor is really tight, I think it's from climbing up the ladder while painting my mom's kitchen. It sure looks good. I made it an Italian theme. Kind of Tuscany looking. I love it and I can't wait for her to see it. I'm done with the painting and all I have to do now is mop the floor, clean the cabinets and decorate it.

Roxie - JUST DO IT!

Nora - I hope you feel better. I hate it when I don't feel up to par. Great workout yesterday!

Debbie - I was wondering if you ended up sore from painting. I always do, especially in my legs from going up and down ladders/stools. Glad you got the painting done at least!

Debbie-that sounds very pretty I know she will love it just because you did it for her.

Checking in -

All right, girls...I did it! I started STS today! Holy cow. What a weiner I am. The weights I used for this endurance phase are weights I would use for strength normally. I guess I've really been cheating myself. It kind of frightens me as to what's to come..... I thought my shoulders were going to explode today!

Belinda - I hope you're catching up on your rest. I don't think you realized how much you needed it!

Roxie - consider your a$$ kicked! Get something done, okay!? Then breathe deeply and enjoy your accomplishment.

Debbie - enjoy your rest week. Hopefully you'll stretch out that hip flexor and it won't give you too much trouble. I'm sure your mom will enjoy her new kitchen. Just hearing about it makes me want to open a bottle of wine! (But most things get that reaction from me!!)

Nora - keep up the good work. Is this weather getting you down? I actually am looking forward to reading and doing some puzzles. I'm enjoying the rain - except when we play soccer! But another month of this, I'll be wishing for summer!

Heather - what did you end up doing today? I hope you had a great workout.

Chris - I'm going to (possibly) try to compress this first week or two of STS, just because I want to experience it! So maybe I'll be catching up with you.....of course, let's see how my muscles scream at me tomorrow. I figured I could do legs tomorrow without a rest day in between..?? Then maybe do back/tris on Fri or Sat.

Enough of me....have a great day, all!

Hey Girls!

Thought I checked in this morning, but I also had a lot on my mind so .... guess I didn't!

I did DISC 9 , LEGS today (still in Meso 1). I do legs in the middle of the week so my legs don't ache for working weekend Sat and Sun. It was tough for me. As I said, i was thinking of all I had to do, and kept thinking I wanted to stop. I did start the bonus work, but got only up to ONE of the bonus plate exercises. I did do the ankle weight stuff, which burned the crap out of my legs!!

Belinda: Hope you feel better! Rest rest rest!!

Debbie: Very cool on the painting job for your mom. How old is your mom? Just wondering. Mine is 85 and lives alone and does very well for herself *knock on wood*!!! Yeah for Yoga!

Roxie: Hope you get in your workout today!! I agree, just start it and DO IT, and you'll be happy you did!

Heather: SOrry for your dreary weather. It gets me feeling down usually. Esp when I want to run outside!

Wendy: I agree ... STS also pushed me to lift much heavier weights for endurance... I think it would be hard to do legs after disc 1, you are going to be VERY sore tomorrow, and lifting/holding the weights for legs is killer! (My forearms KILLED today!) But see how you feel!

gotta run...it's alex's open house tonght....

I ended up doing SB and abs from SJP. Those abs are great. I can't believe it's been so long since I've done them! Gotta remember to keep those in my rotation now. I thought my workout was pretty crappy yesterday, but apparently not. My legs are really sore so SB felt more like Imax 3 blasts!

Wendy - I did legs the day after, but Chris is right, if your forearms are fried, it'll be harder especially as you increase your weights. By the end I was having to do every other day b/c parts hurt too bad to allow me to work other muscles effectively. Just listen to your body though! Oh, and what is your favorite type of wine (or is that rhetorical)??? I love Pinot Noir and I found a fabulous Italian grape called Nero d'Avola. yum.

Chris - the sun FINALLY came out around 4:30 today. It's suppose to rain later tonight and into the morning again though. UGH. Then they are promising sun Friday - Sunday. I don't know that I trust them anymore though!

Hope everyone had a great workout,
Heather

Heather -

Yep, I'll see how I feel tomorrow. I'm just hoping to kind of rush the first week or two to catch up with Chris.
There's a Nero D'Avola from Trader Joe's that I've been enjoying for a couple of years. Archeo it says on the front I think. It's a lesser known grape here, and fun to share with guests. I really like Zinfandels. Ravenswood has a go-to zin that is always good in a pinch. And blends that are zin dominant are almost always a good choice for me. I must say, Pinot Noir and Syrah are my least favorite. However, I can "choke down" almost anything!! (I'm not proud of this!)
DD's team got crushed tonight. Oh, well. I think I'll have a glass of wine!
Nighty night...

Hi girls!

I hope everyone has had a great day.

Debbie -great workout as always, your workouts are always awesome:cool:

Roxie- Don't beat yourself up about it. Just make it a habit to make yourself do. People have learned bad habits right, we all have them, so why not make a good habit. I decided this and I made working out my daily habit and natural mood elevator sort of a non prescription Zoloft/Prozac. It really does help with depression, I have clinical depression and it really helps to feel better on the inside and out. I have a list I mentally check off on days I just can't seem to get my butt in gear and need a good swift kick of motivation.

here's my list:

1. It makes you look younger than those that don't. Yep, it may seem petty but its true.
2. As I stated above it does actually release more of the good feeling positive hormones levels that can lift ones mood, its medically proven.
3. I know I hate feeling fat or bloaty and exercise gets rid of that. Love that!
4.Exercise is medically and scientifically proven to benefit almost every major Organ and system of the body increasing function to heart, lungs, circulation, brain, strenghtening immune systems, strengthening bones.
5. My very favorite that exercise can prevent many if not most major health problems such as: high blood pressure, respiratory, heart function, keeps arteries cleaner, some research indicates that exercise can play a role in preventing cancer and shows much lower occurances in those that exercise and eat healthy. Bone issues like Osteoporosis, helps with lessening cramping with periods. I'm all for that! Arthritis, is one that can be greatly benefit from exercise lessening the stiffening and pain. I know that in MS exercise is extremely important to keep the neurons and neuro path ways active and firing so they can keep good nerve function. Exercise helps with balance and strength good for everyone regardless of age. Balance and strength are issues I have to always focus on for me with MS. So, just like the Nike slogan, "Just do it!" I know its good for you and its something you can do for your health on a daily basis. We women need to remember to give back to ourselves exercise is a good way to do that and for me at least it helps keep my sanity, LOL!! I hope this was not preachy or annoying. That was not my intent I only wanted to help and say I know how you feel Roxie, and I know you can do it, you deserve to give yourself this. You rock girl!;):)Hugs!
