Crazy Strong and Loving It for Aug 20, 2009

Cathlete
Hi and good morning

I will go with DH to Kaiserlauter today, last minute thing:rolleyes: I will try to go to the gym in the hotel! I will report my workout later tonight.

Have a wonderful day and workout:eek:

My best to all.

Today will be GS legs for me. I am really sort of dreading it too. It's rainy and icky so maybe it's just the weather getting to me.

Belinda - it's your rest week and you've been doing your cardio so you're probably a-ok if you don't have a gym!

Wendy - hope you're feeling better. I don't have any suggestions to offer you. It sounds like it might be the tea - but if you're used to caffeine, not sure why it'd be bothering you...

Today I did yoga and ab work. My muscles are so tight in my glutes, hamstrings and IT band again. I just don't get it. It's a weird tightness, one that is hard to explain. Yoga hurt today, I could not get my muscles to loosen up at all. I was sweating big time.

I chose YogaX from the P90X series. I did the first 40 minutes of it. I really like this workout, it is very thorough. It was hard for me to do some of the moves because of the tightness in my muscles.

For ab work I chose the Weights and Plates workout from STS Ab Circuits. I only did the weight part because you all know how much I love plate work. LOL! And yes, plates means paper plates for this workout. I ran out of time anyways. The weight work was about 10 minutes, maybe a little longer. You use ankle and wrist weights. I liked it and felt it big time.

I love that particular ab workout. I think you get a complete workout even if you only do the weights part (which I do frequently). Here is a suggestion from my dancing days - get some true sweat pants (they are plastic basically) and really help loosen up tight muscles. I always wore them while stretching and through the barre work to get my muscles warm and loose. You can find them at dance stores, or probably ebay as well.

Today was cardio for me. I felt like running so I gave the treadmill a whirl. Of course (just as I expected) half way through the workout I get a horrible side stitch again. I was so mad! Up until that point I felt great....grrr. I had to stop for a few minutes and relax and then was able to finish. I ended with the stretch from BM2. 423 calories burned. I love running, I get so nice and sweaty! I know that sounds weird, but it makes me feel good.

Tomorrow morning we leave for our vacation!

I can't wait until today is over with....

Good Morning,

I woke up stiff this morning so I did Slim and Limber. Tonite will be Ramp it Up, ended up doing Imax 3 step only last nite. I am thinking about cancelling my Shock Cardio order since it is really designed to go with STS and I really have no desire to order that one, and I think it is going to be to advanced or hard for me. I just ordered Kelly Coffey Meyers 3 new one because they are only 30 min. What do you all think?

I don't think STS would be too advanced for you. Really it's designed for anyone since everyone's 1RM will differ.

I don't think that STS Shock is specifically designed to go with STS. I think it is just a series of cardio workouts. I could be completely wrong though.

Just my very humble and non-professional opinion though! LOL

In Cathes latest update she states it was designed to compliment STS for more effective results. I am just not interested in STS I have alot of different wt workouts that I really like the GSs are my favorite.

Hey girls!

On today's rotation was a 45 Min Bike Ride, but instead I headed to the park and did a 40 minute run!...It was fun, though a tiny bit hotter than I like it, but there was a nice breeze and I tried to stay in the shaded areas more. My HR was up there with little exertion , though, and I had to keep slowing myself down. I burned 540 calories!

Belinda
: Enjoy your trip! IT is rest week for you, so no worries!!

Heather: Hope GS LEGS goes better than you're imagining!... Let us know how it goes.

Debbie: I think STS really tightens up the lower body> i remember my legs being consistantly sore through the entire rotation. Now you've got me wanting to do the Weights portion of "Weights and Plates Abs". I think I may sub it tomorrow ! Thanks for the idea!

Karen: Sorry you got a stitch! I hate that! But I also LOVE to run and the feeling you get afterwards is like no other (not sure on a TM, but outside always gives me a big high!) Yay for almost vacation!!! where are you going?

Roxie: Cool you did IM3 combos yesterday! that has some harder combos, but is fun all around, I love step anyhow. Oh , I would get and do STS cardio without STS strength without a doubt!! It sounds like it has so much variety of cardio. You could combine it with GS weightwork too!

Nora: Any DOMS from yesterday? I can't believe how bad my bi's and tri's were shaking, yet there's just a tinge of DOMS today. What the heck did you do for abs yesterday? I thought it said Seg #1 not PREMiX of tough abs. Was that really hard?

Wendy: Oh I'm sure the caffeine in the green tea and coffee are making your stomach feel that way. Green tea has a lot of caffeine compared to other teas. ANd on top of that , the coffee. I know what you mean about that feeling in your stomach.

okay, time to get underway with my "to do" list! BBL if i get all my stuff done!

Hi guys! It's been a rough week- bruised my shin bone pretty bad trying to catch Max's stroller from tipping over backward earlier in the week. It still hurts to even stand. Plus, the company in our house finally left and I just can't recover. I feel tired and crappy and have been eating like crap- you all know the cycle.

I am trying to feel better and get back on track. I did CTX upper body today and honestly, it sucked. I never feel that way, but it did! I felt weak and had a lot of trouble with stuff- wanted to quit a few times but I got through it. I wonder what is up with me. Weird. Eats are clean today and will remain so- this has to make me feel a bit better.

Sorry so short and all about me- gotta go get the kids.

Well, went home and did legs during lunch. That way I didn't have all day to come up with some great excuse to not do them! DH and I usually go home together (he works across the street and we live 7 blocks away), but his boss took the crew out for lunch. So...that's that. It's done and out of the way!

It really wasn't as bad as I was making it up to be in my head. Time flew by until the end of the floor work. I did not do the inner or outer thigh lifts with the band b/c I was running short on time and my band is too short (though I could easily substitute ankle weights, but that's beside the point :p).

Chris - good job on your run. Sounds like you had a great workout. It's always nice when your workout involves something you enjoy doing!

Patti - even if it was a sucky workout, good for you for going for it. Pure strength starts this weekend!!! YEAH.

Debbie - do you think it's those plate exercises that are causing you to be stiffer than normal? I noticed I was really tight during STS (just like Chris posted). Maybe it's some of the exercises or the way they're combined or something like that. Anyway, you're not alone!

Heather

Good for you Heather! I'm looking forward to PS if I can manage it! Seriously, today I did pushups on my knees. I haven't done that in over 6 months- I am GOOD at pushups. Le sigh. I'll get it back, just not feeling like myself yet. It would be nice if standing didn't hurt. Dammit. We're both cursed, I tell you.

I have faith you'll bounce back quickly once you get going again. At least it's all upper body work to start with. I'm sure once you're able to get some cardio in, you'll perk up too. Those blasted addicting endorphins!! LOL

Now, if something else happens to either of us, we are most definitely cursed and should not be doing a rotation together!

No, I've been dealing with this tightness about all summer. I'm not sure what's going on, but it's not normal. It's not DOMS, it hurts. It's painful. I'm baffled at what I should do. I added in yoga about a month or so ago to see if it would help and I guess it did there for a while but now its back.

Heck! Aren't we just a bunch!! All our aches and pains! Maybe we should be the "battered and bruised" check in - haha.
Debbie, it seems like your legs were loose before when you did yoga and stretching. Maybe it'll just take a couple of weeks. But only you know the exact "tightness" that you're feeling - I hope stretching does the trick.
Yikes, Patti - I hope your leg heals quickly. I bruised my leg like that in June and it felt like I weighed 1000 lbs when I walked. Healing wishes.
Good job on your runs today Karen and Chris. Too bad about the side stitch though. I wonder how you can get those to stop?
Belinda, hope you are enjoying the hotel gym if you visit it!
Heather, nice job sneaking your leg workout in on yourself during lunch - it's like your legs didn't see that coming!
Nora, what are you doing today - I need to check Cathe's Aug rotation. I think I'm doing HE #2 with Low Max and Imax 3 because I think it's a cardio day.
Roxie, I would STILL get Shock Cardio!
As for me, it's got to be the caffeine. I didn't know green tea had much caffeine. So I think I would drink it, then still drink a bunch of coffee when I got to work thinking, "I haven't had much caffeine yet today - duh".
All righty- off to workout!

Hi Ladies!!!:)

I hope you've all had a great workout today, of which I have no doubt because you guys are always awesome that way.:D

Here's my workout today as per Cathe's August '09 Rotation:

Cardio Coach Volume4=52 Minutes
Distance=4.15 miles
Calories burned= 646

BPM's
Wup/Steady State=138
Challenge 1=152,147,158.
Steady State1=134
Challenge2= 162,161,160.
Steady State 2=136
Challenge3=161,155,161,161.
Steady State 3=155
Cool Down=125

With the exception of warm up and cool down I was in the zone for the majority of the 52 minutes so approx. 42 minutes. I was in the range of 85% up to approx. 90% of my max heart rate. This was a great workout for me today. I seem to be consistantly having BPM's above 80% of my max heart rate, so I guess that means I'm improving, cool!!!

Chris- Yes, I do feel a little bit of doms today but nothing too bad. I know with yesterday's S&H TRi's and Bi's my bi's and tri's were definitely at times shakin' like jello. Man, that was tough! I elected to do Core Max Premix tough core yesterday because I'd done the one Cathe wanted for that day like the day before and I wanted to do something else. Today, I just did Cardio Coach Volume 4 which really felt awesome, no abs today. I'll add abs on to S&H L. I think I'll do my fave STS Ab circuits one Med Ball abs tomorrow. Love that one!

Have a great evening ladies and I'll seeya at tomorrow's check in. ;):)

Hugs!:D

Nora
