Cramping non-stop

Hi everyone!

I'm new to this portion of the Cathe forums, but I just found out last Tuesday that I'm 5 weeks pregnant. Here's the problem: I'm 29, this is my second pregnancy (the first one ended in a miscarriage 8 years ago), I am not in a stable relationship (I live with the father but only in a roommate capacity, as he doesn't consider the relationship we've had for 14 months to be a 'real relationship') and I have absolutely no support system.

For the past two weeks I have been cramping almost continuously. Not in a minor twinge way, but in the 'bending over and squeezing out a tear' way. Could this be normal or does it indicate I'll have another miscarriage? I was wondering if the cramping may be stress-induced given the circumstances of the pregnancy.

If someone has had a similar experience, please let me know. I'm looking for any help I can find.

Thanks a lot!

Hi,
I didn't experience anything similar during my pregnancy so I'd strogly suggest you see your Ob. It may be normal but why take chances. Stress should not lead to cramping. Also as the therapist of the group, i recommend you get some counseling to help you cope with the stress of this pregnancy.

I agree that you need to see a doctor for the cramping. If you have an ectopic pregnancy, it could be very dangerous. Hopefully, everything is fine, but you really need to be checked.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks to both of you! I didn't even think of the possibility of an ectopic pregnancy. I'll go to the doctor this week and post how things are.

Thank you again

Hi,

Sorry I didn't see your post until now. I agree with the others. It would be best if you saw your healthcare provider to make sure that everything was ok. This type of cramping is not normal and should definitely be checked out. Let us know what they say. Good luck! We are here for you.

I had cramping with my 2nd and current PG's. But... I always got it checked out. For me, it was *normal* and both timed an US showed me (and the MD) that the baby was just fine.
I think you should call your MD to be on the safe side.

HI!!! I am new to this format and I just found out that I am pregnant a week ago!! This is my first. I also have had some cramping from time to time and I am seeing my OB next week with US to be done too.

Whew! OK, the US is fine (i.e., not ectopic) and my OB says there's nothing to worry about unless I start spotting (which I haven't). The cramping has subsided quite a bit and is currently being replaced with nausea! :)

Thanks to everyone for your posts. And good luck to those of you who are expecting as well! Happy holidays!

I'm glad that you went to the doctor and got good news. Thanks for the update.

Hope the nausea isn't too bad and that you have a happy, healthy pregnancy!!
