Cramp in abs while doing deadlifts

Did this ever happen to you? While doing deadlifts I got a terrible cramp, under the belly button but just to the left. The cramp was comparable to a charlie horse and lasted for about 15 -20 seconds. The lower left part of my abdomen got so hard and it really hurt. Please tell me I didn't give myself a hernia. (Would I know it if I did? After the cramp went away I was able to complete my workout, including abs.) By the way, I've been lifting for several years and I'm pretty sure I'm doing the deadlifts correctly. But maybe I'm not.
 
You know I was doing those genie hover things in the core max DVD and the same thing happened to me. I'd love to know the answer to this too.
 
oh, I've gotten those things, too, but not during deadlifts. I know exactly what you mean. I always thought that something inside got stuck between something else, and the stiffen disappeared when it got back to where it belonged.:p Yes, i'm able to back to what I was doing with no problems.

Sorry, I'm sure that didn't help, but just wanted to say that I can relate to those cramps.:cool:
 
I've also had this happen to me but only within the last year. I think they're more than likely just muscle spasms like you would get in your calf but in the abs instead.
