Could it be true? (Janet Jackson)

My BFF always gives me her old People magazines and I read in People and US Weekly that Janet Jackson has lost "16 pounds" although compared to her other most recent picture it looks like a lot more and she claims she works out 30 minutes a day for 5 days. Could that be true?? Not that the "stars" are credible but I'm super annoyed she would claim that. She is looking fabulous, again. But it bothers me to think she would lie about it.

I was thinking the same thing - better she would find a method that allows her to keep the weight off. Awhile back she lost 60 pounds in 4 months.

Don't know if this is true or not, but I read that Janet's boyfriend was working with Mariah Carey a lot and Janet was worried about them spending so much time together and that's why she took the weight off again.

Two things:

1.) I read two separate interviews with Janet a while back. In both interviews she stated that she was on a 1,000 calorie a day diet. This, I believe, is why her weight yo-yos so much. She diets down like crazy, and then goes through bouts of rebound eating.

2.) I read an interview with Kyra Sedgwick once. In it, she stated that she never worked out and ate whatever she wanted. I then say Kyra on a talk show and she was discussing the very interview I’d read. She said, “I told them I never workout but truth is, I go to the gym all the time.”

Glean from this post what you will…

Yea, why lie?? Dumb. Not like we need to know everything that goes on in celebrities lives but really I'm proud of the fact that I work out even though I don't look "perfect".
I have this neighbor who EVERY time I see her she'll mention how she was exercising and "this" happened or something like she thinks she burns extra calories for telling people she exercises.

>i heard she only eats like 1100 calories a day...so pathetic
>
>Nicole

Why is that so pathetic? I just recently figured out that I've been eating way too much. I cut down my calories and averaged 1200 calories and I finally lost weight after 2 years of struggling and working my @ss off.

You'd be surprised at how few calories women really need. And, no, working out doesn't burn a whole lot of calories.

Hi -

I've also read that Janet had the ab surgery to give her abs her infamous six pack.

It bugs me to no end too when the celebrities say that they never work out ( or only do yoga 2x/week) to get their bodies in shape.

I do have a big amount of respect for Gwen Stefani.. she is always very honest and open about the amount of time she spends concentrating on her diet and fitness regimen to keep in shape. Its refreshing to hear the "real" story.

The other thing that I have noticed is that celebrity-types shed the baby-weight (post delivery) in record time. That Nancy O'Dell on Extra(you know the real news--sarcasm) looks exactly like she looked before and it has been maybe a couple of months. I think there has to be a lot of lipo going on there. Somewhere there is a big vat of celebrity fat! EW!!!

Keli

I remember when Kelly Ripa got really thin. She claimed she never worked out and ate french fries and fruity pebbles. Then, she busts out 40 some pushups on her toes????

What woman does not w/o, but is a push-up machine??

They all lie about w/o because they don't want to share their secrets!!!

I think for many of them the big "secret" to their success is that they don't eat! Between the eating disorders, airbrushing, and surgical procedures, an impossible standard has been set. Part of the problem is that the camera *does* add a few lbs. But Hollywood needs more people like Stefani, Kate Winslet, Jamie Lee Curtis, and America Ferrera to stand up, be honest, and be REAL.

Janet has always been a yo-yo'er, and I don't think her approach to fitness would be credible. When she drops weight, it happens so quickly that she must be taking SOMETHING or doing something extreme.

Kirstie Alley is another celeb who I think has been dishonest. I don't believe she weighs 145 lbs. I'm sure it can't be easy to be an overweight star, but I agree, why make up numbers? Just don't share them. Say I lost X-many lbs. and I feel great.

Cathy,

I agree, their secrets are probably extreme and unhealthy!! I would say some kind of diet pills that are not available OTC are involved also.

It drives me nuts to hear celebrities say they only w/o so often and eat tons. Yet, they are lean and buff. I would have a lot more respect if they were being honest!

You know, I hesitate to accuse anybody of lying when we really don't know. Twenty years ago, even before I worked out like a fiend, I had a baby at age 30. I gained 16 pounds, had a 9 pound baby, and lost every single bit of weight I'd gained the night I delivered him. I went home from the hospital looking exactly like I did 9 months previous. I credit good genetics, taking care of myself during the pregnancy, and low weight gain overall. I didn't work out to lose the weight, and I did not diet.

So, it is possible. I know everyone doesn't experience childbirth quite this way, but I did. Maybe some of these celebrities are telling the truth. I am! :)

I had a similar experience with all of my pregnancies. I had terrible morning sickness and would lose weight in the first half of my pregnancies, then gain it back by the end of the pregnancy so that I was about the same weight as I was pre-pregnancy. After delivery, I would lose about 15 pounds immediately and was actually thinner after delivery than I was when I first got pregnant. I never dieted during pregnancy, but I just couldn't eat because of the nausea and food never tasted right to me when I was pregnant. I know that this is unusual, though.

I agree...some women just bounce right back after pregnancy. My cousin's girlfriend one month after she had her baby was bone thin again and looked like she had never had a baby. I think she may have even gotten thinner afterwards.
