~~~~ Coolers in January 2011 ~~~
Oh Patricia, I think I'm in shock! This day has been such a whirlwind of emotions. I actually came home, hugged DH and burst into tears. I'm going to spend 6 weeks as a juror on a terrible murder case I'm not sure what I'm even suppose to be feeling. It's a very long story that I think is just starting. I can't believe this is happening.
I did do KPC and it really was a great stress reliever, just what I needed. I haven't ate all day as my stomach has been in knots and know I actually feel like I couold eat something.
Oh Kim. I don't know what to say:(. Especially since this will be during your move into your new house. That's stressfull enough as it is. Glad to hear your w/o made you feel a little bit better. I have a feeling you might be doing a lot of KB workouts in the near future:(
Well I can't eat and I can't sleep so I might as well workout so MMA Fusion done early this morning. Got to go to work and talk to my manager who's not going to be happy I'm sure. Of course the jury selection was on the front page of the paper today, but I'm not supposed to read anything about the case. Maybe I should cancel my paper as it's going to be very difficult not to read about it each day, it's a high profile case it will be front page news.
Okay I had my morning cry, workout, going to wake up the kids without scaring them and drive them to school.
Morning Coolers,
First off Kim, I'm so sorry that you will have to endure this trial. It must really be a bad one, and hopefully it will be over quicker than expected. I was glad ours was cancelled, because it was a child custody case. WTG getting your frustrations out by doing kickboxing. ;)
Patricia, Thanks for the VHS offer, DH was able to get the tape out of the machine and clean it up. He said the tape wasn't damaged, so I will try it again. If it is the machine, then of course I will have to get the DVD or download. Congrats on getting through the Dec rotation, what will you be doing for the next round?
This morning was Disc 31 Chest & Back. Had to go up in weight on the back exercises, the weights listed where the same ones that I used during P90X and more reps. :D Now I do need to get myself some larger dumbells. :eek:
Have a wonderful day!
Okay, I've calmed down quite a bit. I had a nice talk with a coworker/good friend last night about it and she knew how upset I was. She starts work a hour before me so she broke the news at work and got them settled down before I arrived.
She said one coworker (not unpredictably) was ranting about how it was going to affect her workload. She tends to fly off the handle and my friend knew that and wanted her to get her venting out before I arrived. Which was good because I spent most of the morning in tears without her help. She still spent most of the day ranting about the justice system (she feels working people shouldn't serve on juries) but she is just the type to have strong opinions on everything. The rest of us try to ignore her when she gets on her soapbox. Underneath she is a very sweet person so after all her ranting was over, she was okay with the situation not that she has a choice but I'm glad I didn't have to bear the brunt of her vent because I'm not sure how I would react.
My manager was wonderful!!!:D Her husband is a police officer so I think she has good insight. She talked about arranging counselling for when it's over if I think I need it. She just kept saying not to worry about work just to worry about managing the move and my family. She also said that I can take my week of holidays I was going to use the week we move and take it after the case is over before coming back to work.
I'm not suppose to read any media about the case or discuss it. I did NOT read the article and I guess I will stop the newspaper subscription to my home but here is a link to today's newspaper article so you can see what the case is
http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/loc...113062964.html
I just knew the article was there because every coworker in the hospital had to mention it to me.
I finished STS Total Body tonight to complete week 1! Congrats Patricia for finished the Dec. rotation.
So you're going dumbbell shopping Laurie! What kind of weights are you using?
Thanks for "listening" to me rant.
Morning Coolers
DH and DS out shovelling snow. Our first dumping of the season. Its the kind I like. Remember sticking your tongue out to catch a snow flake. Idid HR last night but stopped at the chest and ab work. Just was not in the mood and figured I'd get enough chest work in when I start up STS next week:p
Getting a body perm later today. I hate my straight hair. I soooo envy people with naturally curly hair.
GRR, having troubles posting today.
Kim, I read that article yesterday to try and get a handle on the case and what you're going thru. Sounds like your boss is very reasonable. What else does work expect you to do? It's not like you have any choice in the matter + they're probably glad its you and not them! Does your work still pay you while you're away? We have no formal agreement but we get paid when its only a couple weeks (mainly b/c we still end up getting our work done after hours!). I'm sure now that you've had a few days to "deal" with the situation and with work being accomodating you can take a few deep breaths and say to your self "okay, it is what it is - lets get on with it". Just know that you have people who you can vent to. Feel free to email me. It might be easier to vent with people who have no connection to the case.
I wonder how far of a drive it is from Winnipeg to Chicago?;) I still like the Disney idea but this is turning into kind of a weird year so we'll see what happens.
You're up early Patricia! So what's on the agenda after the Dec rotation? I bet ds is super excited about the snow!!!
Work pays me full wages and benefits. I'll be there only during office hours except for deliberations. So except not being there the day we move:( and having to make some alternate arrangements for one week of transporting the kids (they use the school bus after we move) life goes on for me. THere is a good chance they won't be able to replace me and will work shorthanded at work but I can't do anything about that. Like DH said at least I'm in the best spot, in the jury box, not being accused of anything and not sitting as a victim's family in the viewing area.
I guess I've adjusted to the idea, it's just a very strange twist to life that's hard to wrap my head around. It's a rest day for me and I have nowhere I need to go. :DGoing to enjoy the day puttering, packing, organizing, cleaning and some relaxing:D
Enjoy your hair day! I go next week to get all my grey covered up. It's funny my hair is getting curly as I get older. My mom keeps asking me if I have a perm :confused:
So yesterday at work of course I was the main topic of conversation and I kept telling people that I didn't want to talk about it because I was so emotional. I had a couple of people tell me that they were talking about it and if they were accused they would want me on the jury, LOL I guess that was suppose to be a compliment?
Oh stopped at the house yesterday and they had done the brickwork on the fireplace:D which looked wonderful! They are drywalling in the basement!
Morning Coolers,
This morning I did KenpoX, and it was just what I needed. ;)
Kim, So glad to hear that you are doing better, the case really does sound like it will be intense. Glad you have the support of your family, and most of your co-workers. Yes I need to get some additional weights, will try to see if the second hand sport store has some first. I have a $25 gift card at Sports Authority to spend yet, but I also need new lifting gloves. :)
Patricia, We really have not had all that much snow, most of what we have gotten has been a couple of inches. I'm cool with that though.
Have a great day!
Evening Coolers
Started up the 3.5 mo STS rotation today with Disc 1 - s/c/bi. I guess I'm doing Cathe' January rotation just not this year's:D Had company over most of the day. They have 2 kids so lots of playtime for DS. Spiderman came to the b.day party he was at yesterday so an exciting weekend for him.
Kim - glad to hear your emotions are settling down. I'm sure that as you tackle obstacles over the next few days (i.e. planning for during that time) things will become easier as you become organized.
Off to eat dinner.
Got Bodymax2 done this morning and took ds to curling this afternoon. Otherwise a quiet day.
DH and I drove over to the house this morning, as he hadn't been there this week, expecting it to be no one there on a Sunday morning. There was a worker working on the drywall in the basement and a sales rep taking potential buyers on a tour:confused: There is no showhome in that style anymore so I guess they were showing that houseplan.
GOing to phone the office tomorrow and plead my case to see if they would move the new house walk through to a time when I can be there.
Good luck with the STS rotation Patricia! DId you redo the 1RM tests?
Morning Ladies,
On Saturday I added in Jillian's BFBM workout, because we had a party later that day, so why not. :D We got home really late, and I had to get up for church on Sunday, so was really tired all day so didn't really get off the couch to even get in yoga! :confused: This morning was STS Disc 15 Back & Biceps, that one really gets the forearms into the workout too. ;) I'm really hoping that I can get motivated to do the yoga workout tonight, I would hate to miss it.
Patricia, So you where in push-up heaven? :eek: Love these STS workouts, hope you enjoy your rotation also.
Kim, Hope you get that date moved for the walk through.
Have a great day!
Just checking to see if my STS tracker is working now. Had some difficulty finding where to locate the updater for that as it had moved.
Laurie - my pecs are talking to me today. My goal is to do PUs from my toes by the end of this rotation without aggravating my rotators. I just do what I can and modify the rest:p
Kim - not worried that your house will be sold out from under you:p Hope you can get that date moved too.
Well, got home early from work to meet some men delivering some drywall so got my w/o in already. Hiit 40/20 - did I every tell you I hate intensity:eek: Give me ss cardio anyday but good to have the w/o over quickly!
Off to see about dinner and have to get to the grocery store tonight.
Kim - I forgot to respond about the 1rm. I'm using the same weights from b/4 but just judging as I go along if I go heavier. Several of the excercises I increased my weights.
Just finished IMAX3, I hadn't done this in awhile and it's still hard. DH and dd did HITT Double Wave together, so cute! He was sweating all over and she looked fresh as a daisy!
Today was a nice normal day!!!:D:D The kids went to school, I went to work and everything was just as it is supposed to be.
Good for you two, doing all your STS workouts! January always seems to be the start of the STS series on the Cathe forums. I started STS rotations the last two Januarys.
Morning Coolers,
Last night I did get my yoga workout in, and it was Bob Harpers Yoga for the Warrior. I really enjoyed doing that one, kind of reminded me of Tony. I did this workout in my bedroom, our basement is just so cold for the enjoyment of yoga. This morning was STS Disc 3 Legs, that one was fun for me to. :D
Patricia, Glad you are able to have that push-up goal, and doing the modifications. I'm just the opposite, love the Hiit type of workout. :D
Kim, What you don't want to join in on all the STS fun! Hooray for normal days! :D I love how those children can breeze through those workouts. I don't know that Imax3 will ever be easy. :eek:
Have a great day!
Evenin Coolers
Disc 2 Back/Tri done! Had to take DS to swimming lessons right after work so only had a protein bar for dinner and now just had a protein shake. I'm really curious to see how my increase of protein will effect this round of STS. Finally feels like we're making progress is the basement. About 2/3 of the drywall is installed and hopefully will be complete by the weekend.
Kim - DH said to me last night he wanted to start taking DS outside after dinner to play hockey - get them both off the couch and he notices I do more games (like cards/monopoly/reading) with him which he doesn't enjoy. Anything would be better then sitting watching t.v. everynight. I do soo enjoy both of you with DHs who excercise.:( So happy to hear things are getting back to normal for you. Remember time is your friend.
Laurie - I went grocery shopping after 40/20 last night and my back did not like lifting the groceries. I think a bit too much hi-impact with these Hiits. I've decided to try and do the extended stretch after each of the STS w/os. My right shoulder/neck is already starting to sieze up after disk 1 and the push ups:(
Off to bed.
Laurie How long is that Bob Harper's Yoga dvd? That one might interest me.
Patricia Oh no, on the shoulder! Give it lots of TLC this week! Hopefully your DH and ds would find the street hockey fun? ( or would they go to the ice rink?) That basement is coming along quickly! Do we get pictures afterward?
Yesterday did the the double workout as indicated on the schedule:cool: Muscle Max and then a 30 min treadmill run. This evening will be Intensity.:eek: Going into work early this morning as it's our annual retreat and DH is driving the kids to school. I've got to take ds for his breathing/asthma test after school. He's being doing great off all his meds so hopefully the test reflects that!
Morning Coolers,
This morning was Insanity Max Cardio Conditioning. Sure was dreading this one before I started, but dang I felt great afterward. I also did B&G Stability Ball Abs, that one really is good at getting all areas of the abs.
Patricia, Do take care of that shoulder/back, it sounds like you are doing that. I'm sure you ds would have a great time going out to play hockey with his Dad. I agree with you on sitting and watching tv at night. We do that way to much, especially in the winter. Yippee on the progress of the basement. :D
Kim, I'm hoping that you and your ds have some great news on on the asthma test. What a great workout combo, I really do need to get my treadmill fixed. The Bob Harper yoga DVD is 60 min. long, and it also includes a 15 min ab workout. One thing I did like was the music, it was more of a rock type feel.
Have a wonderful day!
