~~~~ Coolers in January 2011 ~~~
Well here's my daily venting session:
Today was our annual half day retreat at work. We spent a large portion of it trying to figure out who was going to cover for me while I'm away. My good friend is going to have to work full time and I know she really doesn't want to as her kids are just little and she prefers to only work 2 days/week. Made me feel so bad although they are all being wonderful about it. Another coworker is go to work more than full time for the next 6 weeks.:(:(
Left work early went and pick the kids up and took them to ds's breathing test. Still doing well but the pediatrician wants to send him for a exercise stress test and another type of test down at Children's Hospital and then back to see him again. Great, just what I need.
Came home made dinner, went for groceries. Back home did Intensity, sat down to check email, email from my mom that she's leaving Saturday for Mexico for 2 weeks:confused::confused: Okay, I thought she was going to do some up the kid's pick up while I was on JD, guess not. Second, I don't know if you remember my mom's history with Mexico. My dad died while in vacation in Mexico in 2002. Then she dated this guy for about 5 years and he ended up in ICU post heart attack in Mexico (about the time we started checking in together) he had to be come home by an air ambulance and ended up passing away. I can't believe they even let her back into Mexico, and who is she going with?? Some guy I've never even met:eek: She drives me insane sometimes.
Morning Coolers,
Todays workout was STS Disc 19 Chest, Shoulders and Triceps.
Kim, Go ahead and vent away. You are going through such a stressful time right now. Don't feel bad about the work situation. Our JD is something that we can be put in jail for if we don't show up. I don't know if that is the case in Canada. Dang on the added test for your ds, will you be able to get him in before JD starts? I remember the Mexico trip that your Mom had, must have been a quick decision on her part to leave so quick? :(
My oldest DD has a second interview for a job at Applebee's for a hostess, so we are hopeful that she will have extra spending money. :)
Have a great day!
Afternoon Coolers
Been busy at home and work these past few days. Lets see yesterday was MMA KB and tonight is Disc 3 - legs.
Lately I've been asked to create report after report so lots of typing, merging data and thinking outside of the box. Just another report that needs to be maintained and wonder how much it will get looked at:rolleyes:
Kim - vent away. Your co-workers know its only temporary - I don't see the big deal.......Its not as if anyone has any choice in the matter:( I guess good news on DS but the tests never seem to end. Is the climate there good for DS's asthma? DH refuses to go to Mexico. Wonder why your Mom likes it so much considering. Is there anyone else who can help out with the carpooling? I asked my parents if they would babysit for us while were in LV in March - sure no problem. 1st they were going to Florida then they're not, now they want to go. I told them to go and I'm sure I can make other arrangements.
Laurie - I'm sitting here with a roller ball massaging my shoulder every chance I get. Wow, great on the 2nd interview. I'm sure for a position like that if they're calling her back in its probably to confirm their choice and tell her she is hired. Fingers x-d.
We finally got enough snow this week to use our snow blower so hopefully BIL's skating rink will be "open". It's been too mild todate.
Bodymax completed, I did the step and circuit section before work and the upper body work after supper.
Okay, so just before I left work today, my manager informs me that the hospital lawyer is appearing before the judge tomorrow to try and get me excused:eek: I guess he has already written a letter and is now going to discuss it with the judge????? What??? It feels kind of wrong that they did this without telling me? SHouldn't they have asked me first? And really what is the big deal? Now that I've got over the shock of it, I'm ready to go. It's not like I work in the ER or the ICU, they can live without me for a few weeks. I can't believe the same hospital that has no money for continuing education, cost of living raises, etc has money to waste on a lawyer this way.
Whatever, I guess I'll leave the department of justice to argue with the department of health and sort it out.
Laurie, my mom must have got a last minute deal on the trip. I think I'll see her tonight at ds's hockey game so I'll try and fight out who her travelling companion is
Good luck to your dd!! I bet she is excited, will this be her first job??
The phoned with the date for ds's pulmonary function tests and of course it's in the middle of jury duty and when he's on his school ski trip. So I phoned and left a message about a different date. I seem to spend alot of time on the phone lately
Patricia I'm not sure why my mom wants to keep going back to Mexico? I invited her with us and she said no it was too close to Christas. My sister is going to Jamaica on spring break but that was too expensive and next thing she's going to Mexico with a stranger:rolleyes: I really don't understand her sometimes. My guess is she saw a good deal and this is someone she talks to at one her senior's group.
Who else could babysit your ds if your parents go away?
DH phoned his mom and she will help with kid pickup as needed. They can also take the bus to their cousin's house, they did this twice this school year but that makes for a very long day. I know I really reacted to the jury thing but once I got used to the idea, I'm thinking the same thing, what's the big deal?? We deal with vacations, sickness,etc. it's just a little longer than normal but I know my good friend/co-worker ends up doing full time hours which she prefers not to do.
So is the shoulder bothering you alot??
I remember thinking after my leg w/o yesterday it didn't feel as hard as I remembered it. I even upped my weights. Well, my hams and glutes are talking to me this a.m.:p Not nearly as bad as I remember it from my 1st round of STS.:)
Kim - well, your life is really out of your control these days. It must be driving you CRAZY. Hang in there gal. I've brought a massage roller to work and use it through out the day and it seems to be helping my shoulder. I think instead of taking a complete rest day I'm going to do a stretch workout of some sort. At the shoulder work is at the beginning of the week and I have all week to work out the kinks.
Waving hi to Laurie
Have a great weekend
Morning Coolers,
This morning was 4DS Kickboxing in it's entirety. Really did enjoy this workout, just wish I enjoyed the other cardio in this series as much. :eek:
Patricia, Creating reports and not having them looked at is very frustrating. I have to do that once a month, and my boss only looks at it during the budget session. :rolleyes: Great idea with the roller ball, that should help alot. Of course the stretching is a great idea also. We still have not had a lot of snow. Suppose to get something tonight though. Ouch on the DOMS! Sounds like you used the right weights though.
Kim, Wonder if this lawyer is going to do a good job of pleading the case. Usually if they have already decided on a jury, it is pretty hard to get it changed. That is nice of you MIL to help with the driving, that really does help. WTG on the workout!
Have a wonderful day!
Finished week 2 of the January rotation. I did MMA Boxing before work and Muscle Max this evening. I quite proud that I did MM this evening, I really thought I would ended up skipping it. I'm tired and glad that tomorrow is a rest day! Week 3 looks easier.
Patricia Working on unused reports does sounds very frustrating! Are you working at a certain project? I know in North Bay that you were on the hospital project. The bridge that PCL was going to do Winnipeg is on hold for now because of a drowning, so they are looking for the body:( right at the bridge.
Between your legs and shoulder, a good stretch workout tomorrow would be a great idea!
Actually the prairies are quite good for asthmatics. The pediatrician wants to do pulmonary function tests to get a good baseline of ds's lung function. He said he's been wanting to do it for years (actually we did try once in 2004) but the asthma has to be under control to do the test and he was never controlled enough. So he's healthy so we should do the test. Part of the test is on exercise stress test on the treadmill.
You are right, my life just feels really out of control right now, I would love a boring few months with tons of time in my new house and hardly anything else happening.
Partricia, how's the basement coming along? The drywall is done in our basement, painting and carpentry also done!:D We're hoping to see some flooring next week.
Laurie, I like KB in the 4DS series, I also like the low impact cardio but not the other 2. I think the KB might be in the rotation for week 4.
It doesn't look like the the hospital manage to free me:cool: I talked to the jury officer to see what was happening and he just laughed, and said he goes through the same thing about once a month with the hospitals. My manager was so excited that she had done this wonderful thing getting the lawyer involved but the jury office made it sound like the hospital routinely does this without much success.:rolleyes: I was doing so great with pretending the whole thing wasn't happening and enjoying my week, I'm annoyed with my manager for getting me all worked up;)
Did your dd hear back from Applebee's.
Had a chat with my mom, so I guess she has known this guy casually for a couple of years. I do remember her going to the football game because her "friend" was singing the national anthem so I guess this is the same friend. She said he phoned her out of the blue last week and was looking for someone to travel with and they found this great last minute deal. She seems really excited so hopefully goes well. I think it would be weird spending 2 weeks with someone that I didn't know very well.
Just finished CCC with DH. IMAX was on the schedule for today and CCC for tomorrow, but DH wanted to workout and I knew he would't like IMAX so switched them around.
Not much happening today, will take ds to curling and then afterwards we're going to DH's grandma's 95th birthday dinner!! DH's dad (my FIL) came in from the west coast for his mom's birthday so will be nice to see everyone.
Laurie, I was just watching the clips about Asylum, do you think you will be getting it?
Afternoon Coolers.
Just completed Disc 4 - s/c/bi. Didn't get in Step Moves on Friday as when I got home DS was sick with a fever. So spent time with him and then my throat started tickling. I feel fine though so maybe just taking a rest helped (with Advil for cold) or it was all in my head:eek:
The drywall is ready to be taped! YEAH. That will happen over the next 1.5 weeks. So starting to thing about paint colour now. My sister and GF and I will paint as that should be pretty easy - get in before the trim work gets on so no fine detail work to worry about. DH took DS to the boat show today so I'm having a nice relaxing day to myself. Hopefully it doesn't wear out DS...
I rented The American (w/G. Clooney) and Salt and watched them this weekend. The American was slow and not what I was expecting. Salt was really good, especially if you watch the alternate endings.
Kim - I bet you were feeling a ray of hope and now feel let down:(:( Good one on you thru all this in keeping up with your w/os and 2x a day that! I'm soo jealous your basement is done. We're a lot farther along then I thought we would be as we're hiring people to do most of the work instead of DH on evenings and weekends. But most of the guys doing the work are doing it after their day jobs so still a bit slow but still quicker then us:p Wow - 95 yrs old. That's something. Does she live in a home?
I see you didn't ask me if I was getting Asylum:p:D Hey, today I saw for the 1st time the infomercial for TurboFire. Don't want it but I find it funny that the CLX informercial is never on.
Well, I'm still finishing up the acctg on NB as they still keep giving us more work to do there but hopefully that will wind down by end of Feb. I have a small $10m project I'm doing the acctg on that will finish in March. It doesn't keep me too busy. They're giving me the odd tasks/report creating here and there and this week I joined a task group to create a User manual for a new acctg system we've been using for the last year and the one we have just isn't cutting it. So keeping busy until we get another project to send me out on site. We're bidding on another Hospital next month that I would walk to from my house so my fingers a soooo x-d for that. We won't know if we're low until April I would expect and if we're low not on site until the fall. But if we get it I would be on that project for about 4 years. That's sad about the drowning. I think I saw something in the news recently - is it a child????
Laurie - I know you don't like fancy step but the music is so good in 4DS. I wonder that it doesn't come up in her rotations too often. I may substitute some of 4DS kb in this STS rotation. I'm not sure if I can take 3 mos of shock cardio.
Off to eat a late lunch.
Yes, it was a 6 yr old boy that was playing on the ice and fell through, it actually happened the week we were in Mexico and they still haven't found him. I go over that bridge on the way to work and see the tents for the divers. So sad.
We actually rented a movie last night which we rarely do (well DH does alot but I rarely join him) The whole family watched the Social Network. It was very interesting!
Dh's grandma lives in a senior's apartment and gets some home care assistance. She's very with it cognitively but walking is difficult for her. She is on the list for a nursing home but she's not considering "urgent" so it's not happening very quickly.
Hope you and your ds are feeling better I had a terrible headache all day yesterday and this morning. I think it might have been because my traps were so sore:rolleyes: from shoulder work.
What colour are you painting the basement?
Evening Coolers
Just did 30/30 along with Keli Robert;s foam roller w/o for stretching.
Took me an extra hour to get into work today. Light slow that turned traffic into a crawl. I don't think I hardly got out of 2nd gear. Sure miss it when snow only added an extra minute of travel to my day:(
Kim - I'm not sure if I want to see that movie - I probably should just to see how FB apparently or not came about. Its suppose to be a contender for an Oscar I think. Oh, it must be hard to drive by and see the tents and know whats it about. We're just starting to think about paint colours. DH is wanting to do trim work on the bottom 1/2 of the wall, so maybe white on the bottom then a colour on top. We're having some stone work done too so I may just wait until the stone goes up and pick a colour from the stone. I don't want grey though. I have it in my bedroom and I hate it. I like colour - maybe a butter yellow or a green which most of my homes have been:p Hope your headache has gotten better after a good knights sleep.
Waving hi to Laurie
Well yesterday was IMAX bright and early before work. Had to get it done before work as went to ds's school band concert in the evening. Super cold out here, - 30's with the windchill.
Today is LIC which I really enjoy but no plans on for the evening except for TBL so will do it after work especially as it's a bit longer.
Isn't it unbelievable how a little light snow just slows everything down! I was a few minutes late for work yesterday because of the slow traffic.
I got a phone call from the jury office yesterday to tell me that the hospital lawyers "were shot down in flames":rolleyes: and they expect to see me there on Thursday. My manager claims she's going to keep fighting:rolleyes:. I wish they would just let it go, I don't mind going and we have a coverage plan worked out and I have to say it's getting kind of embarrassing.
I think waiting till you have the stone work picked out and then match a colour to the stone is a good idea. I really think you need some colour in a basement, especially a workout area, you want it to be motivating/cheerful.
Morning Ladies,
Sorry that I was MIA for some days, just wasn't in the mood to look at my computer. :eek: I get that way every once in a while, since I work on one every day I think I just don't want to look at it afterward or on the weekends. Anyway workouts where not great, had a problem with my knee. This morning was the first time I tried anything, and afterward it still seem stiff. Guess I need to get more stretching in. I came in early to work, so got in Hiit Double Wave Pyramid. After work is a Meso 3 Plyo Leg workout, hopefully the knee will be ok with that.
Kim, Have to say I'm not surprised that you didn't get out of the jury duty, and after Thursday it will be a mute point anyway I guess. So sorry to hear about that child falling through the ice. WTG on getting in the tough workouts that you have been doing. CCC followed by Imax, the cardio in those two are good ones. Last night the girls rented the new Step It Up movie, I went into my room and read a book. :D I just am not interested in those type of movies. Don't know how interested I would be in The Social Network. :confused: Yes I'm thinking of getting Asylum, but will probably wait until I hear how everyone likes them. ;)
Patricia, Great news on the basements progress. Hope your ds gets better quick. Creating that user manual sound like it will be interesting. I enjoy doing things like that. :) I don't know if I could take 3 months of shock cardio either, in fact I have not done one of the step workouts at all. :eek:
Have a wonderful day!
Morning Coolers
DS woke up with a fever still so I've kept him home from SK. DH will relieve me in the afternoon so I can go into work. So got my w/o in early today:D Disc 5 - Back/triceps. I think I might do an ab w/o this evening.
Tomorrow is CCC - I think I started it once and pressed eject pretty early on so we will see how it goes:)
Kim - the city is all up in arms about it being -20 yesterday:confused: But today is like +1 so go figure. Not looking forward to the drive home from work this evening as it is going to get cold later today and therefore ice:mad: I hope the jury office doesn't try to make your life miserable b/c they think YOU tried to get out of JD. I hear you on feeling embarrased now. Lets just get on with it. I guess less then 2 days to go now for you. Were you able to arrange a new house inspection time?
Laurie - I hear you on staying away from the computer. Where I have it right now isn't even the most convenient either. I don't even know what Step It Up is about I'm so out of touch with movies these days. I often look at the rental wall and just don't rent anything b/c I can't get interested. I think gyms are trading on the "Step it Up" as I see them advertising that and I was confused since I didn't think Step was so popular anymore. That's of lot of leg work all at once. Hope your knee bares up. Can you w/o at work?
Last day of work tomorrow:(. The girls are taking me out for lunch. I'm trying hard to get everything organzied with my patients, and lots of notes written.
LIC done and now watching TBL.
Laurie, we all feel that way about computers some time. I don't even use the computer at work much and sometimes feel that way. Hope that knee feels okay if it's hurting tonight on the leg workout, then stop and ice!!!!
Patricia, sorry to hear your ds is still sick. The news said that Toronto is having lots of flu cases going through the city. We went to -45 with the wind chill today, but the sun is shining bright! Hey, the roads aren't slippery at -45! They never phoned me back about the house inspection:rolleyes: but I'm thinking that we get the house on a Monday, I'll go over on Sunday and do my only little inspection and make DH a list for Monday morning. Legally, I don't have to be there.
I couldn't handle STS cardio that much either, I really wasn't that crazy about many of those workouts.
The house is coming along quickly now. They put in the floor in the front entrance and the 3 bathrooms, also the backsplash, and lots of details like plug-in plates, light switches etc. It's really looking great, we're getting so excited!
Morning Ladies,
Last night I finished Disc 29 Plyo Legs, and my knee didn't hurt at all. Will try to get in more stretching, because it seems that after a sit for a while it stiffens up. This morning was KCM's 30MTF Kickboxing workout#1 with weighted gloves. Will get in my upper body STS done after work.
Patricia, The Step It Up are a series of movies about a very modern dance group, sort of like the mob groups. They all seem the same to me. :D Is your ds still having a fever? Seems like the young ones always go through those fever stages.
Kim, I'm getting excited for you to get into the new house too! Once the flooring and carpeting get in it seems so close. ;) Very nice that the girls took you out to lunch.
Have a wonderful day!
That's great that your knee didn't give you any trouble!
DH and I just finished 40/20 and no equipment abs.
I posted some house pictures in the album under house. The house was just a beehive of activity today, they were working on the lighting, flooring, basement ceiling. They pictures I took were from this morning and by the afternoon it was looking even more complete.
How did CCC go Patricia??
I am absolutely exhausted:eek: I just did CCC - well, up to almost the end of round 4 and that was enough for me. That's a Hiit w/o if you ask me! I don't find anything about this w/o enjoyable and probably only will do it if its in a rotation. Also the more I do it I can track if I get farther along I guess. How close to Insanity is this one?
Super busy at work. DS still under the weather so I probably will be home tomorrow.
Kim - I guess tomorrow is JD. Hope you sleep well tonight and don't worry too much. What's the date of your house closing in Feb? Do you have to move the same day or do you have some overlap? Now that the finishes are going in are you happy with your choices. Did you even remember what you picked out:D
Laurie - glad to hear your knee was okay. Do you have a foam roller? I just got off of mine and trying to work on my left hip flexor/quad as it's been tight for a while and figure it will only get worst. Man is it painful - kind of hard to give yourself a deep tissue massage as its easier to back off.
Off to look at Kim's pics
LOVE your flooring tile - and your maple cabinets in the bathroom - they will age well and not look dated. Your file place stone looks great too. So much nicer then just a plain wall around it.
Oh, you know me too well. Yes I'm anticipating a really restless night. I know I'm just sitting and listening tomorrow so how bad can it be but I'm still really nervous. I think I'll be okay once I get the first day done so I sort of know what to expect.
I'm liking the maple cabinets much better with the flooring. I think they go okay together.
We get the new house Jan 31st and give up the old house Feb 12 so lots of time to get moved in.
Hope your ds is feeling better soon!
CCC is somewhat similar to Insanity but Insanity had no core work but the cardio is similar.The fifth round is actually a little easier. I don't mind this workout occasionally but I wouldn't do it very often. DH liked it.
