~~~ Coolers in April ~~~
Evening Coolers
Disc 27 - Sh/Ba/Tri done. For the last circuit I did it watching Survivor - a fairly predictable routine. For concentrated curly I picked up 20# by mistake and did the first one and could barely lift and wondered this doesn't feel like 15#. Must be getting strong if I think 20# looks like 15#:D
Laurie - DH used to be a goalie and his hero was Fred Dryden from the Habs so this household has to be a Habs fan! I think even growing up I cheered for the Habs (I liked their jerseys:p:p) - I lived 1.5hr north of the city so not too tied to the Leafs. My parents are from the Ottawa Valley so my Father cheers for the Senators! That's sad about the houses lost and the poor man who washed away. Will you need a new arena if the Jets come back???
Patricia, one of the main reasons the Jets left was for want of a new arena and soon AFTER they left, the MB government built a new area. The Manitoba Moose play in the arena. The Moose are the farm team for the Vancouver Canucks, that's who we go watch fairly often. Same league as the Toronto Marlies. So great new arena. If the Jets come back, chances are the Moose will move to Saskatoon. The rumors are that the NHL were in Winnipeg on Monday:D:D
So the kids school have a french public speaking contest. DS won for his class and then he won for his school and so tonight he went to the divisional as the school rep for Grade 8.
It was 3 hours long! There was 21 Grade 7-12 students each doing a speech for 3-5 minutes in French. I don't speak French!!! It was an incredibly long long long 3 hours. In a small, very overheated room. DS did not win which I think he was actually quite happy about. It's fun when it's at the lower level, he likes being in the spotlight but gets nerve wracking at the higher levels. The competition goes to a national level.
So no workout for me, it was almost 9:30 pm when we got home and we left soon after work.
Laurie, Aslyum is out, are you ordering???
Morning Ladies,
Yesterday was S90 Cardio Challenge, and today is a rest day. Very strange to have that during the week.
Oldest DD's team did great at their first outdoor track meet. They took first for the overall, and DD's 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400 teams took 2nd in each race. They where consistant even with new runners in the mix.
Patricia, I don't know why Up makes me cry. I really enjoy the relationship that developes between the old guy and the kid.
Kim, I cried during Toy Story 3 also, but I have only seen that one once. Up is on all the time at our house. :D Congrats to your DS! Youngest DD has a solo and a duet to sing on Saturday morning, but I don't think that I will have to sit as long as you did. ;) We have had a couple of contractors out, and so far I like the first contractors ideas. He quoted stone pavers, and had some really nice landscaping. I like that he has everything that he would put in, and we can do it in stages. The other guy was just a piece of paper with some numbers on it. :confused:
Have a great day!
Morning Ladies,
S90 Total Body for me this morning, sure is a tough little workout.
Oldest is suppose to have a track meet today, but it is suppose to rain and the temps right now are under 40 deg. But it feels like the 20's with the wind. Youngest has a solo and a duet to sing tomorrow in competition, so that will take up the morning. She then has to get to her dance class after that. I'm going to be very busy tomorrow. ;)
Have a great day!
What an ugly dreary (sp?) weekend. Rain rain go away. I guess its better than the tornados the south got. How terrible for everyone affected:(:(
Yesterday was Disc 28 - Ch/Ba and today I did Intensity premix step & lo Hiit and then med ball abs.
Off to a b.day party shortly.
Laurie - that's a jam packed weekend for sure. My rotation has Friday for the rest day - I'm really liking it as it seems like a treat at the end of the work week:p
Finished up week 2 of the April Rotation with Kick Max today, yesterday was Drill Max and Friday was Leaner Legs. I'm enjoying the variety in this month's rotation.
So we did end up having a party last night. This was the group that DH grew up with, we had talked about moving it till next week but someone was in from out of town so it worked better to have it this weekend. There were 3 people from the group that moved this winter and all within the same neighbourhood so we did a progressive party throughout all 3 houses. We ended at our house and people stayed till 2! So fun but tired today.
DH's grandma moved into a nursing home a couple of weeks ago and so his dad/aunts are busy cleaning out her apartment so we inherited her couch and loveseat. DH went and picked them up yesterday and they fit into the basement just perfectly!! They are still wondering what to to do with her bedroom suite and so we are debating whether to get it for ds. He has a loft style bed right now and although it's great for right now eventually I guess he will need an adult bed. But that loft bed took so much work to move and put together just a couple of months ago, so it seems like so much work to move everything again. But the bedroom suite would be free and he would need one eventually. So we might end up spending Easter weekend moving furniture again!
Laurie Congrats to your dd's track team! Does your dd get nervous before her music solo? What a busy weekend for you!
Patricia, having Friday as a rest day is perfect! Hope the sun comes out soon!
Tonight I'm having my winter tires taken off, but with the snow/sleet we got yesterday I'm not so sure that's a good idea:eek::eek: Depending how late I get home, I'll be doing Plyo tonight.
Kim - isn't fun all the socialising though but its harder to recover from the late nights that for sure:p Great nab on the furniture. I feel your pain on moving more furniture! We've had carpenters working on hanging doors and finishing up trim in the basement so I think for the long weekend I'm painting:( Oh well, sooner it's done then we can start working on my w/o room.
Disc 29 - Plyo done last night.
Tonight is the 1st night of soccer - skills and drills for DS. He really wanted to take soccer this year. It actually starts in June but they had this program starting now that I thought would be good for him. I'm just hoping that its held indoors and not outdoors. Its been freezing and the last few days:(:mad:
Just finished 40/20 HITT, ds kept me company. That workout is a good one to do with someone. Yesterday was HSTA which I hadn't done in ages, it felt very difficult!
These houses are never ending jobs, eh Patricia! Hope you don't freeze at soccer tonight! I remember nights like that at football, soccer, baseball,etc. DS has been through many sports over the years.
What an awful commute I had home tonight - took me almost 4hrs to get home (usually 1hr 20min):confused::( The train broke down and until the figured out that they couldn't fix it - it was 2hrs later sitting on the train stranded just 1 mile away from the next stop:eek::eek: I left work at 4:15 and after stopping for milk it was 8:15. So no workout for me tonight.
Kim - thankfully, the soccer is at an indoor field. Even though it is an indoor facility I wasn't sure if the program would be outdoors or not. So I won't be sitting out in the freezing cold and rain:D Did you decide on the new bedroom furniture?
OMG! on the commute!! How frustrating!
Hope everything is okay with you Laurie, we haven't heard from you in a few days.
It's a 4 day Easter holiday here for most! The kids have school Monday but no work many places. I'm having Easter dinner here on Sunday for my family. Nothing on the agenda for today at all (except SJP) so that feels great!
Busy day the last couple of days and no workouts. Wednesday DH was helping clean out his grandma's apartment, and brought over the bedroom furniture except the mattress since it was raining. Yesterday was a work dinner for someone leaving and then the hockey game.
This city is caught up in Winnipeg Jets mania;) The province may be flooded, there is a federal election but all you hear about about is the Jets. Old Winnipeg Jets jersey out like crazy at the Manitoba Moose game yesterday.
Evening Coolers
I'm tuckered. Spent the day priming and painting trim! I'll be able to take most of the storage crap in my w/o room and move it back downstairs over the weekend now. Still lots of trim to paint and one more room to finish in the basement but we're getting there. Pressure is on b/c cottage season starts up shortly. Completed my 2nd week of M3 last night and hope to start up week 3 tomorrow.
Laurie - LOL about Jet fever. :)
DH spent the last 2 days helping a friend build a new deck. He took DS with him today from 7am until 9pm. They have a boy the same age that they play well together. I think the parents were a bit upset I didn't come out and hang out to help look after the kids. What do you think? Should I have gone? I had work I wanted to get done here. I wouldn't have minded if someone brought a playmate to play with my son all day here if the situation was reversed. I thought about going in the afternoon but it's close to a 45min drive then we would have had 2 vehicles to drive home with both of us tired. (psst, neither DH or I like the wife:rolleyes:) I so did not want to spend 10hrs sitting around their house. I had suggested going to the movies but their 2 yr old is too young for that they said. The wife made a Drs appt this afternoon expecting me to be their I guess to look after the kids. Dr must be jewish as what's opened on Good Friday:confused:
Sitting here waiting for the Manitoba Hydro service guy to come inspect the gas fireplace. Got a call out of the blue a few days ago, I guess it was never inspected when it was installed. It's one of those 4 hour windows so no errands/workouts for now just sitting and waiting.
The schedule calls for a 40 min tm run and it's quite nice out so I might do a light run/walk outside later.
It would never occurred to me to go along with DH while he was helping build a deck, Patricia. That's way to long to visit and if I wasn't helping there was no reason. I would just feel that I was in the wife's way. So did they expect free help with the deck and free babysitting?
Turned out to be a beautiful humid day here. Got in Disc 31 - Back/Ch this a.m. then out for errands this afternoon. Arranged a playdate for DS - the kid came over here to play for an hour or so. My body is soo tired from working yesterday and then just general cleanup around the house today. How do people do manual labour everyday:eek::eek:
Kim - well atleast being there for the inspection should give you some comfort/piece of mind. Did you get out for your run?
Saturday ended up being a crazy day as we were helping clean out DH's grandma's apartment, and then his family wanted to go out for lunch. I had to get groceries as I was hosting Easter dinner Sunday, and of course piano lessons. Of course I spent the morning waiting for Hydro to come:rolleyes: but it was a beautiful day so in the evening ds and I went for a one hour bike ride to explore the neighbourhood, there are soming good paths close by. So that was instead of my run.
Sunday I woke up with a really sore throat and I still don't feel well. The last thing I felt like doing was hosting a sit down dinner for 12 people. But it went okay I just didn't really enjoy it that much. We did get to church and did the Easter egg hunt thing. After company left I decided to do Cardio & weights at 8:30 pm.
Today I have Easter Monday off but kids are at school and DH is at work. Still feeling icky, I did RS, swept the garage and I don't think I'll do much else the rest of the day.
Hi Kim - funny that you had today off and not the kids. My daycare provider must have thought we were off too as no one was home when DH went to drop him off:( So he took DS with him to work for the morning. Had to visit 6 different job sites and just left him in the truck while he popped in to check up on the other Supers. Then they went shopping for the rest of they day. DS got a new bike from the Easter Bunny so we all went cycling Sunday too.
Not only did the Easter Bunny pay a visit but the Tooth Fairy too! I couldn't believe it when DS showed me another loose tooth Friday and then it fell out Sat. I see another tooth already breaking thru the gums - though from where the 2nd tooth was not the 1st one??
Sunday I tried 2 new DVDs I bought. QFix kickboxing by Janis Saffell - its 3 - 10min w/os. Not a bad workout for when you don't have much energy. I also did Jillian's Ripped in 30 - week 1. DH saw me doing it and seemed interested so I think he would do it with me. He said he liked her so maybe after STS I'll try working out with him again.
Thought I lost my post there for a 2nd, the computer froze.
Tonight was plyo legs disc 32.
My work week didn't start out that great. I forgot to re-set my alarm clock so slept in 40min - no breakfast (and I'm starving in the a.m. so to wait until I get to work is really painful for me:eek:). Got to the train on time, but about 15minutes into the ride it hit a deer so we sat for about 1/2hr while the cleaned it up and inspected the train for damage. Oh the joys of commuting. Isn't it suppose to be the Better Way!
I got my Kindle today and am already addicted!!! I had decided to go with the Sony e-reader instead of the Kindle even though the Kindle got better reviews because the Sony was compatible with the public library. I waited 2 months for the Sony e-reader and it still was sold out everywhere, maybe because of the crisis in Japan??
Then last week Amazon announced that the Kindle will be compatible with the public libraries by the end of the year. SoI canceled my preorder with Sny and ordered online Wednesday night and got it today!
I've already downloaded about 20 books and only spent about $4 so $ won't be such a big deal until the library thing gets worked out.
That's what I found about kids' teeth, Patricia. They come in stages, a few at a time. DS (age 14)lost his last baby tooth this weekend, but the toothfairy doesn't come anymore for him. We knew he had one more baby tooth from when we were at the orthodontist. My ds got a new bike today too. It was a secondhand one from MIL, it's a "boy's" style and she can't get her leg over since she broke her hip.
You've had some frustrating commutes! It kind of reinforces the stereotype of TO that we have out here. Hoping the rest of the week goes smooth for you!
Afternoon Coolers
A busy this week for me but need to slow down now b/4 I go crazy.
Last night after taking DS to soccer I did Rhythmic Step - I really like the routine but not the music so much. Tonight is Disc #?? - Bi/Sh/Tri. along with Survivor.
DH will be watching the Candiens hopefully win (do or die tonight).
Kim - I LOVE LOVE my kindle. DH complains he never "sees" me anymore as I'm always reading:D Delivery time for them has been fantastic (I've had to replace 2 of them in the 14-15 months I got mine though. It's worth it to buy a padded case for them as I take mine everywhere.
http://www.medgestore.com/products/kindle2-latitude.psp
Here is the link to the case I bought. You really need something to hold it in (don't rely on a case that attaches to the side of the Kindle as the metal clips that go into the side of the Kindle came up through the case and cracked it. That's one of the reasons why I had to have one kindle replaced). The 2nd earlier this year the screen just froze. Had no issues with c/s when I called them. Had replacements with in a couple days.
