If you are looking for something different, yet relaxing and inspiring, try this free online radio. You can request up to 5 songs an hour, and I've been able to make a huge list of my favorites just listening to everyong else's requests. Some songs and artists are familiar (Enya, Kenny G, Daniel Bedingfield, DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince - if you can believe that!!), but most probably aren't (Afterlife, Motorcycle, Air, B-Tribe). Some songs are upbeat, others are ambient, still others are more "classical"...and some admittedly suck - like the one playing now (but SOMEone likes them).

Since it's international, you will hear all walks of music at different times of day. I usually hear a lot of spanish or latin music in the afternoons, for example. Listeners post to the chat room from all over the world.

Try it for a week and see what you think.

Another one that's really neat is pandora.com - you type in a type of music, or a band, song, or album, and it goes through its 'music genome' database to find other songs that it thinks you'll like. When each song comes on, you can click whether you like it or not. So if you give it feedback, it'll keep getting 'smarter', though you don't have to. And if you don't like a song, it'll stop playing it right away and go to the next. It's totally free and commercial free. If you're not registered with an account it'll cut you off after 15 min or so, but I registered and never get any annoying emails from them. Maybe you can set one up to switch over to when people request annoying music on the other station :p .

Yes, Pandora is another favorite of mine. I like creating my own radio stations based on song searches. "Trip Hop" has got to be my favorite genre on Pandora! The music isn't really what you'd expect with a genre named Trip Hop.

As I listen to music all day at work I will certainly check into these. Might be nice to change things up a bit. I would like to recommend a station as well - kaparadio.com. I listened to this station when I was in Hawaii in April. Can't seem to part from it. It totally takes me back and really soothes me plus it's fun. I escape the hell hole that is hillbilly Alberta.

Oh, you reminded me. Yes, I have a coworker who likes to pull up my account (we share a computer) and type in random words to listen to. "Lobster radio" actually turned out to be okay. At least compared to the others he was coming up with. :D Men are forever twelve year old boys.

Oh my gosh, I dream of moving to Alberta!! A girlfriend and I had this great scheme in high school to steal one of our parents cars and drive to Banff. Honestly, I'd love to end up there one day, although I guess I've never actually been there. It's not that bad, is it?
