CoNtRoL the DaMaGe in Sep!

Hi Ladies,

Yesterday I did AB, what a great workout! I still struggle the mountain climbers with the feet on the outside....have yet to complete them without a break.:mad: I can do the standard mtn climbers...but the others....well lets just say I must need to do more core work!

Not sure what or when I will workout today. I'm working from home today and going to a Dr. apt with DH. Not sure if I mentioned that he's been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. This appt. is with a diabetic nutritionist. I wasn't sure if DH would want me to come but I asked and he agreed. It will also help us with Jerod. If DH is making these changes hopefully he can talk to Jerod and help him improve his diet as well. To be honest, I'm kinda mad about the whole thing....in most circumstances type 2 diabetes can be eliminated by changing your diet. My dh and ds are totally carboholics. I know a lot about diabetes, my mom had type 1....her body simply didn't produce insulin.

Jerod's has a varsity game tonight, jv game tomorrow...and homecoming dance tomorrow night. I can't believe how fast these years are flying by with him. I used to be counting down the days til the kids would be out of the house, but tbh I enjoy them being here. I know they are safe. I must be having a mid life crisis moment here.:eek: Perhaps it is because my parents are both gone, we talked about moving since we don't really need to stay in CO. Of course this wouldn't happen for a couple more years til Jerod is out of HS.

Lori-your house is beautiful! My house has about the same square footage, but on 3 floors. My basement isn't totally finished either. Just curious, where is your laundry room? Mine is in the basement...which was fine when we moved in...and I'm still okay with it...but eventually would like the laundry on the main floor. Of course we missed you yesterday, silly girl. Have fun visiting with your family this weekend!

Wendy-Even though you are not working, you will be going to school and getting certified. Maybe you can just do some seasonal work in the mean time if you need/want to. Have you done any of the AOS w/o's lately? Enjoy your workout.

Laura-sounds like the bday celebrations are continuing...yay for birthdays! Well our temps are dropping into the 70's so I'm running out of excuses...gonna have to get my run on shortly! Sorry you got a stitch...I hate when that happens. Glad to hear that Toots is doing fine. Hoping the path report is benign.

Hello again!:)

I did Lauren Brooks Ultimate Body Sculpting and Conditioning with Kettlebells today. This is the full version (40 mins) of the short one (12 mins) the other day. I did the whole thing with a 20# KB and it kicked my azz!!!:eek:


I've been done for a while now...came out to have an "orange break" before moving on to yoga and never got up. :eek: Now I'm having coffee...hopefully I'll be motivated to move after that. I really need to do it b/c I know it won't happen tmrw after my run...

Diana:: Yup, type 2 diabetes is usually a diet thing. Hopefuly your DH can eat his way out of it. :) My dad, his brother and his uncle all had/have type 1 diabetes. This scares me both for myself and my son. No, haven't done AOS but did Kettlebell Your Way-the remake of one of the AOS work outs. AOS are the harder ones so I didn't want to jump right into them having not used the bells in quite a while. I am going down the list of bell works outs I have. I intend to do them all atleast once so I will get to them sooner or later!;) Hey you aren't in any crisis b/c you like having your kids home with you. Heck, as far as my mom was/is concerned, I could have lived with her forever! :D

TGIF >> WOOOOHOOO

OK - had a WONDERFUL b-day celebration - had over 20 people there - it was AWESOME - I am feeling soooo loved!! :D:D:D got to see 2 friends (very good friends) that I dont get to see much of .. it was just awesome!! I am so blessed to have my friends and family!!! I was so busy talking and laughing and opening gifts I didnt really eat!! :eek: guess that is a good thing!!

I am getting my hair cut at lunch - and of course 2 or 3 people complimented my hair last night - and told me they liked the length - I was actually gonna tell her to cut some length off :confused: now I am rethinking it !!!! I plan on getting in a run after work - it is hot today tho - 90 - rain is to come in and stay in forecast for the next week - so this will be last chance to do an outdoor run for a while - that means next week will be filled w/Cathe - Bob and SeanT :eek::eek::eek::eek:

Lori - you have a beautiful house! Mine is about same footage (not NEAR as spotless :eek: ) but all on one floor - and a long ranch style house! I LOVE your bedroom furniture .. beautiful!! ok .. I saw the iceburg on the website ...ummmm . . are you near iceburgs?? :confused: it looked COLD!! LOLOL .. the client that cancled .. is that the one that is wanting to lose the weight fast and asking about YOUR diet?? canceling training is not way to get pounds off (I shoudl know.. LOL)

Di - type 2 - ya that can be controlled by diet and weight loss if you catch it early!!! he is gonn have to change the way he eats!!! and OF COURSE you should go with him .. afterall ... you need the info on what he should be eating too!! I used to reccommend to people that asked about losing weight and eating healthy to go to the diabetes foundation website and follow their eating guidelines .. b/c that is really a HEALTHY nutritious plan to follow!!! sorry had to laugh at the "midlife crisis" comment ..no .. I think what you are feeling is compeltly normal!!! I think for most of my friends it is bittersweet when all the kids are gone .. they are one refreshed to have THEIR time and space back .. but secondly ..sad b/c there is an emptyness and nagging worry about the kids!!

WEndy - i have 2 Lauren Brooks DVds .. havent thought about those in a while .. I may dust them off and try them this weekend .. hers and Paul Kitami (sp?) .. excellent workouts!! i like Paul's the best tho! good luck w/the job aps!!!

OK .. better run ... have to make up my mind on the hair .. ??? .. may just leave it up to my hair dresser.. LOL!!! have a great one!
 
Just got back from another gym...They aren't hiring at all right now but I was told they will give me a call if/when something opens up....

Never did my yoga before b/c I wanted to make sure I didn't miss my window of opportunity to visit the gym before picking DS up from school. I have some time now so I'm going to hit the yoga mat!

Hi Ladies,

Well DH's appt. this morning was only to show him/us how to use the glucose monitor, when and how often he needs to take his blood etc. We have to attend a diabetic nutrition class that is the third and fourth Tuesday of each month. We are getting signed up for that for the next month's classes.

I haven't worked out yet...but just checked the rec ctr website. I may go to bodypump at 4:30 and stay for bodystep at 5:30. That should cover my bases for today. Not sure if we are going to Jerod's game tonight or watching it at home. It's the homecoming game so I'd prefer to be there in person.

Laura-Thanks for the info on the website. I'm definitely going to check that out since the class isn't for another month. No reason we can't get started now. Unfortunately I can't control what he eats unless he chooses to eat what I do, most often he does not. I think hearing it from a medical professional may be better than my nagging. Although much of what the Nurse said this morning is the same thing I've been saying for years! He has to be willing to make the changes. DH wants a ranch eventually. It's nice having the bedrooms upstairs since the kids rooms used to be pretty messy. Now Jerod is the only one with a messy room, and my room just has too much clutter right now.

Wendy-woo hoo....you did get your yoga in today! My rec ctr has a new class, Non Contact Boxing. It's one night a week, but at 7:45pm....that's kind of late for me but I would like to give it a try and see what it's like.

WEll .. i have to cancel my run .. DH left the house and left Buster in .. gggrrrrrrrr :mad: WHY????????? ... he has a doggie door .. but he has trouble getting up and down .. and he is on lasix which should make him pee more .. GGGRRRRRRR ... IDK sometimes I wonder???? Anyway .. have my flowers to take home .. they would have died in the heat of the car while I ran .. so I am gonna take them on home and have them for next few days ... and I will be home in time to take my babies for a ride (if they feel like it) ..

so the planned run will be put off till tmrw .. I should have time in the morning to get up before the rain starts hit the trail for a longer run .. then come home and do my weights .. NO ballgame tmrw ... sssssooo I have the time! NO EXCUSES!! If it is raining .. I will prbly opt for a HIIT w/o then weights!

Di - yes the diabetes website has great nutritional info on it!! You know .. with type 2 .. your DH BETTER watch it ... if out of control there are all kinds of consequences!! and yes a DR telling him would carry a lot more weight than the wife .. LOL!!! MEN!!!!!

Good Morning :)

Had a good sleep last night. I had to go to bed with DS b/c he won't go in the dark room alone and the baby didnt get up until after 7 which is a real treat. I'm going to run today at some point in time. I may have had some new crops come in the mail that I need to try:eek:. I keep my purchases on the down low these days:rolleyes: Yesterday's workout was 45 mins on the tm and LBB. I felt awesome. I felt like I could run forever, probably b/c I didn't do cardio the day before.

Diana** my laundry room is on the 3rd floor. It's not very big so whoever buys it needs to have a stackable washer and dryer...I don't know why we did that. I don't like those spider man mountain climbers either. I feel like I can't move fast enough. And two other things. Have you ever noticed that there are more running mans done on one side then the other??? I always wondered why one leg felt like it was about to fall off and the other one didn't. And I also don't enjoy those side kicks in the plank position b/c I hit my shins and give myself bruises! Lol. So is your son a carbolic too? I could easily be a vegetarian. I think we all kind of count down the days till we don't have kids under our feet but there is comfort in knowing that they are safe and sound. Plus when they are gone it means we are getting older! I will have kids around for a while yet!

Wendy** so glad you got your yoga in:rolleyes:;). I looked at a couple of kettle bell workouts when I was at my parents last time and when I that shopping spree:eek:. They looked dangerous! Lol. All I could picture was one of my clients swinging those bells around and throwing their back out. Only seasoned worker outers should be allowed to do those workouts! Lol. You didn't see the pile of dog fur in any if the corners?? I think her camera made my house look cleaner then it is !

Laura** yep...I live near icebergs but I don't think there were many this year. Last year it was crazy and when the icebergs roll in its usually colder. We had a hot summer and no bergs! I'd rather that. Oh yes...this is the client who kept asking me what I did and when. She can't blame her bad back on her workouts cause she only did 2/5:rolleyes:. I expect a text from her soon asking me why she didn't lose any weight. Her husband is also home so she's probably sitting around sipping wine...and that's the best case scenario!

Oh forgot to tell you girls the devastating news!!! After 8 wonderful months I started my period! I wasn't impressed and still not. It's been so long that I keep forgetting! Almost forgot to pack supplies for the weekend!

Quiet here today. I had a awesome run today. I did 16 km...which is 10 miles in your language...what a way to show Wendy up:p. I felt good....must have been the new crops:eek:. It's also nice to run with a little chill in the air. I still wore a tank but it wasn't that warm.

Wendy** your dinner sounds delish. It was def better then mine. Mom put some chewy wings in the oven and fries (there's no green face) so I didn't eat that. The place kind of went up too. I was trying to feed both kids, the baby was tired and then my aunt, cousin and her little girl who are home visiting blew in. After the baby ate I put him in the bath and I still haven't eaten. I'll figure something out!

Hi Ladies,

It's been a busy day. I did Intensity this morning before heading out to Jerod's football game. Jerod had a great game and won 28-0! Tonight is the homecoming dance and he wants to go get his hair cut first. I may hit kohl's today or tomorrow as I'm running out of perfume, juicy juicy and burberry have been my favs as of late.

I asked DH if he got an estimate yet....he said he just told the place to fix it.:mad::mad: It definitely needs to be fixed, but we have a spare car so it doesn't need to be fixed right now....especially without an estimate. Then he asks "how do want me to pay for it"....really...we'll how much is it. Men....GGGRRRRR

My tri training partner and I are planning on riding bikes tomorrow. Probably 10-15 hilly miles. I'm looking forward to it and the weather is perfect here for bike riding.

Wendy-I checked out your recipes and they look delicious! I'll need to look for something for tomorrow night...not enough time to plan for tonight. Nice run today. Have fun at the movies!

Lori-more lulu I presume....:p i mostly wear capri's to workout in when I go to the rec ctr...so I may be caving and buying a pr. of those super expensive lulu's.....hope I don't become addicted like you and Laura! Wow, 10 miles is awesome! Is that your furthest run since DS was born? Enjoy all the company. Oh, did you hear which region DH will be assigned to?

Good Morning:)

Had a even better sleep last night:) The baby didn't wake until 8! He is cutting his two front teeth though and I thought I was in for a rough night. I gave him some tempra before he went to bed and he woke a few times last night but went right back to sleep.

My legs certainly know they ran yesterday:eek: Ouch!! I don't know what I will do today. If I workout it won't be until later this evening. I will be going to church this morning and my mom is cooking dinner....then I have to drive home. I may get a head start on this weeks weight workouts when the baby goes to bed.

Diana** I vote that you should get a pair of lulu crops!!! Oh you will love them! They really aren't that much more expensive then other brand names but I guess there are so many places you/we can buy brand name stuff discounted but with lulu that's hard to find. Thursday's is sell days online so you could check bright and early cause the sales don't last long. People gobble up the sales and they usually put it on ebay for twice the price. I don't know if people actually fall for it. I noticed once that someone had a tank top listed and it said "not released yet" and I'm thinking, who would be dumb enough to pay twice the price for a tank top that WILL be released?

Today's work out may be yoga only...or maybe not. I'm not sure yet! :p

Hotel Transylavania was a cute movie. We all enjoyed it. :)

Dinner was awesome! The squash recipe was fantastic and it went well as a topping for the fish tacos as well as a side dish. ;)

We watched the movie "Dark Shadows" (Johnny Depp) last night. It was a dark movie. Wierd. Perfect for JD! I enjoyed it.

Well, in contrast to Lori and Di's super expensive LuLu capris discussion, I am going shopping at Joyce Leslie today for super cheap stretch pants...and whatever else I might find. :p Other then that, the only other things going on are the usual Sunday School for the kiddo and Mass afterwards.

Lori:: Well lah dee dah dah Miss I ran 10 miles y'day! :p So what did you end up scrounging up for dinner last night?

Diana:: Great win for your DS! I love perfume! I don't run out of very fast though so I rarely get to shop for it. :( Enjoy your bike ride today!

Quiet here again today. Thought I'd have lots to read.

I just finished my workout. No cardio:eek: mark it down! Twice this week I didn't do cardio. I did GS UB and abs. I was feeling to lazy to do cardio, not to mention it was 10 p.m.

Wendy** lol...I figured you would like that comment about my 10 miles v.s your measly lame arse 3 miles:p. You know if your gonna workout, you should really workout:eek:...hehehe! I should look for some new recipes. I can never make anything that DD likes these days. She whines no matter what it is.

I will bb in the a.m. DS goes to school tomorrow morning so I will be going for a run as soon as the bus pulls out and then I have training at 10:30.

Good Morning:)

Nothing new to report. I'm sporting some nice DOMS from last nights GS workouts, chest and shoulders mostly. I can remember when I use to struggle using 15's for overhead press and now I'm up to 20's. To bad the next jump is 25's! Wish they somehow came in 22's or something.

I'm trying to get DS up out of bed for school and it's being challenging. That's why I am giving myself a full hour to do it. Really he will probably only need 20 mins to eat and get dressed but I know it's going to take a while to drag him out of the bed...there's no rushing that kid. My plan is to go for a run when he goes to school but it looks like its going to rain. If it does I'll just head to the basement!

Morning. :)

Today's work out plan is Insanity Max Interval Plyo, 5 miles on the TM, Bob Harper's Kettlebell Cardio Shred + Kettlebell Sculpted Body, an hour of yoga and STS Extended Stretch....and that's just the warm up!!!!:p

Ended up taking DS to ride his bike. The bike he has was getting too small for him so we were going to throw out a new bike as a Christmas idea to family. Well, we loaded up his bike and the dog and were going to head to the park so he could ride while we walked with the dog and on the way we passed a yard sale in town. They happened to have a bike for sale. 5 minutes and $20 later, DS had a new bike! LOL Unfortunately though it's too big to fit in my trunk fully like the other one did so instead of going to the park we stayed local. Next purchase is going to have to be a bike rack for the car. :)

Never made it to JL for leggings so I'll have to "force" myself to go this week. ;)

Lori:: Why not pick up platemates or place weights to make those in between weights possible? It really does make a difference!

Hi Ladies,

Looks like I didn't check in yesterday...hmmm. Well I went for a 15 mile bike ride yesterday, by myself. My girlfriend ran in a 5k instead. I thought about running but had just paid for my next 2 rec classes, ViPR (oct) and Holiday Meltdown. We plan to ride together next weekend.

This morning will be cardio this morning and hopefully legs at the rec ctr. I'm just not going to be going as heavy but heavier than I can do at home.

Yesterday we had to replace our microwave. It the original one that came with the house and it was time. We have a nice new stainless microwave! DH & DS1 took down the old which was pretty easy, but I was told installing the new was bit**. Probably a good thing I wasn't here when they did it. It looks great and is working now...that's all I care about it.

Wendy-thanks for sharing your recipes! I bookmark the ones I like and try them out! I bet DS is happy about his new bike.:D We need to figure out if we are keeping my car or not...I need a bike rack too, on which vehicle is TBD. As I was reading your post...Wow, Wendy's doing an ALL DAY W/O....then it hit me...you two ladies crack me up. How do you like KB dynamics?

Lori-My middle son was/is not a morning person. I always felt so bad for sending him to school when I knew he was not fully awake. I wished school started later for him. Have you considered having DD find some recipes she might like? I know, it's tough to please teens. The temps here are good for running...not sure if I want to share my measley 3 mile attemps with you or not

I did 11.5 k today. It was the perfect temp and it didn't start raining until after I got home. I've been in my running gear for over an hour now and I'm starting to get the chill! A hot shower is in order. DD doesn't have school today so we are all going to the grocery store this afternoon. I asked if she wanted to watch the boys or come with...guess what she picked:rolleyes:

Wendy** sweet deal on the bike. Ya never know what you'll find at a yard sale. I rarely go to them b/c I have enough of my own stuff to off load but if your looking for something like bikes, baby supplies or workout ger, it's the place to go. I would think that most people who buy workout equipment never use it.

Diana** enjoy your workout today. Lol on the measly 3 miles:p I was just giving Wendy so attitude, I knew she could handle it. There are days 3 miles is all I want to do. I have been enjoying running more lately. I've stopped looking at my watch and just run. I still like to know how far I've ran but how fast doesn't matter.

I may bbl! I feel the need for a coffee!

had a horrible weekend - my baby dog Buster is NOT doing good at all - he has been sick all weekend - and ystdy I got a kidney stone attack (stress obviously brings these nasty things on - back started hurting FRI - and ystdy was horrible) .. naturally!! ugh .. but he is at vets this morning - DH on long hours - it is first of month and I am a crying mess - I am at work .. but I am useless - vet chkn for kidney failure - and thinking we may get the "its time" speech :(:( heart is breaking - but know I have had 6 more months with him that no one expected - still dont make it easy tho! :(:(

Lori - I usually have to take off my clothes right after a workout and get in the tub .. i get terribly cold.. even if it is hot out!

Wendy - I want to see that movie!! looks cute!!

Di - i say 3 miles is 3 miles!! LOL - as one of the 101 peices great running advice "15 minutes of running is better than 0 minutes running" .. I would think I was super woman if I could run like Lori!!! We need to send her some wings to clip on her sneakers!! lol

OK .. I am going now - the vet to call when he knows something - but IDK .. not expecting good news at all - I have just now stopped weeping .. I am sure it will start again if I think about it for too long .. I have texted my friends and asked them NOT to call b/c talking here at work upsets me .. and I am trying to hang in .. b/c i know the dreaded kidney stone is coming ... and I will be out for that for sure!
