Comparing the IMAXs

I have done 2 and 3 since I got my HRM and burned more calories with 3. I want to do 1 today and have not done it in a long time and, of course, no HRM readings on it.

How does the intensity of 1 stack up to 2 or 3 for those who have done this one recently as well as the other two?
 
Imax 1 was the first Imax I that I did in its entirety b/c I had 2 taped off of Fittv for so long and I attempted pretty early in my Cathe experience, so let's just say that I avoided it for months afterwards! LOL!
Anyway, now that I can complete the Imax's without substitutions or modifications I find Imax1 to be the easiest to complete, last time I thought it was too easy, so I bumped up my step height (from 6 to 8) and boy did that make the difference. Making it different from 2 (not as fun) but almost comparable in intensity.
Just a warning if you haven't done this one in awhile. You get through interval 9 thinking that this is doable and then 10 SLAMS you with side leaps and air jacks and tuck jumps--just in case you forgot, b/c I sure did and w/ the 8 inch step I was sucking air by the end of 10. I made it but it wasn't pretty}(

I would rate them, in terms of intensity, (with the toughest listed first) as follows:

Imax 1
Imax 3
Imax 2

But I believe you can get a great cardio workout from any and all of these.
 
woah Jillybean, you think 1 is harder than 3??? Granted, I haven't done 1, but I can't imagine much harder than 3 :eek: IM3 is seriously the motherload in terms of reach your threshold. I don't think 2 is quite as hard but it's not far behind. I think 3 just has a wee bit more pounding.

I just finished IMAX1. Whew... boy, anything that has that many plie jacks and power scissors in it will never be "easy" to me!!!

Here's what my HRM says for each of these...


IMAX1 - AvgHR 142 MaxHR 173 calories - 474
IMAX2 - AvgHR 142 MaxHR 174 calories - 430
IMAX3 - AvgHR 149 MaxHR 176 calories - 506


The 1 and 2 are close to the same except for the calorie burn. I did change my weight on my HRM about a week ago (down) so the IMAX1 was done on the lower weight and the IMAX2 on the higher weight. I thought that you would burn more calories with a higher weight inputted into the HRM than a lower weight??? The only other variable is IMAX2 time, according to my HRM, was 55 minutes, IMAX1, according to my HRM, was 1 hour. I believe that explains the difference. At that intensity, I believe I could easily burn 44 calories in five minutes.

Just going on perception, IMAX3 feels harder to me than the other two.
 
I recently purchased Cathe's DVD collection from SNM. I have IMAX2,3
& Imax Extreme but no IMAX1. Did you purchase IMAX 1 from SNM?

I think they get harder with each one. 3 wipes me out, especially all those jacks off the bench! 2 is my favorite - I like the routine a lot, it's fun, and it's hard. 1 seems to start out slower, but those last intervals are pretty tough.
