Happy New Year!!!!!

Thanks you so much, Cookie! We are all excited! I am also thankful for all your support, friendship and this group. I am so happy to hear you feeling much better. Still take it easy. No resolutions for this new year I never stick to them.

Debbie,Kirstin, Melissa and Amelia - how was your New Years? Any resolutions?

I will be back later to report my workouts.

Happy New Year!!! How was everyone's NYE? Anyone do anything exciting?

I took a rest day yesterday. It's been an emotional couple of days. First, my brother and his loser gf (can you tell how much I love her) came over and made an announcement that she's pregnant. I was speechless; my parents were NOT happy. They were just complaining that they're having a hard time making ends meet and paying bills (she works parttime as a waitress, he's a bartender at Olive Garden). So my mom asked if they were planning on getting married and my brother seriously said "No, it's too expensive." WHAT?! You're going to be raising a kid (scary)!!! I told my mom, watch she is gonna drop out of college and they will ask to move into my parents' house since I won't be here. I don't know what they were thinking when they decided this would be a good idea. I called it too, because when she came over Christmas Eve, I told my mom I thought she was preggo cuz her face looked different. My mom kept saying no way, then 10 min before they told us, my mom turned to me and was like "Ever since you mentioned how you thought she was pregnant, I'm nervous that she actually might be." IDIOTS.

Then yesterday afternoon my aunt called from VA and told us my cousin killed himself. He's been battling depression for awhile and they released him from the hospital Monday saying there was nothing more they could do for him. My uncle said he seemed fine and thought he was better because he was acting happier than he has in years and then the next day, this happened. I can't even imagine. I told my mom I would go down with her if she wants me to. I feel so bad for my aunt and uncle.

Sorry for the downers, ladies. What a way to end the year :( I went to one of my best friend's house last night for her NYE party. It was a lot of fun. I felt guilty going out, but my mom told me it would be better if I did, especially because what would it help to stay home and sulk? I'm glad I went :D ...despite the awkwardness of my friend's mom and aunt fighting over which of their sons I should date and who would land me as a DIL :eek::rolleyes: (Confession: I don't want to date either of them LOL!)

Belinda, CONGRATS!!!! I'm so excited for you and your family! And the ring is beautiful!! Your DS has good taste ;)

Kristin, now you're making me scared for X10 lol. I'm excited to try that workout, it sounds tough! How did your pulled chicken come out? It sounds delicious!

Deb, how did the fish come out? What kind do you guys make? Yeah, I'm staying with my parents during break. All of my friends from school went home so it gets lonely out there with no one around lol.

Amelia, did you make it to midnight? I was yawning at 11 lol  Ooooh when are you starting P90X?! It's different from Cathe but I loved it and saw awesome results when I tried it. Let us know what you think! And I wanna hear some drama lol!!

Cookie, oh no, I'm so sorry to hear about still being sick! That is no fun. How are you feeling today? Hopefully you got some rest in.

Have a great day girls!!

Hi Ladies!

Long time no chat! Life is hectic. This working M-F really sucks up all of my time. I've been getting up at 5 a.m to workout on the days I work so my evenings are free. Everything else is ok. Kids are good, everyone is healthy. DS 1 has some issues were are trying to figure out. His teachers think that he has SPD so we have an appt to see a ped and go from there

We order P90X 3 (DH and I) ...he needs to do something. He isn't over weight by no stretch but he isn't getting any younger and he needs to be active. I think he can manage 30 mins a day. I just did the first DVD, wasn't that hard. I'm really sore from UB earlier this week! I'm going to get DS's lunch and hit the tm.

Belinda** omg....her ring is beautiful!!!!! I guess your happy? You must like her ;). I always worry I won't like my kids spouses. Lol...silly things I think about! How have you been? How are your workouts!

Melissa** oh my goodness, that's terrible news. Hopefully your brother and wife will grow up some. Wish I had some words of advice but I think your going to have to wait for this one to unfold. My thoughts go out to you and your family. Depression is a terrible disease.

Last night I did nothing. DH worked, DD went out and I was home with the boys. I didn't even stay awake till midnight. Christmas was nice. I kept busy so I wouldn't get homesick!

I will try to check in again!!!

Lori

Happy New Year!!!!

Hi Everyone,

Parties are over, crashed on the couch tonight at 6PM and was asleep for 2 hours, DH is sick so a good excuse to crash:) Even though I smelled like fish on New Year's Eve it was a nice time! Today was easy because we catered just ate way too many carbs. No exercise yet:( Since we are getting a blizzard tomorrow night into Friday I plan to workout on Friday. Tomorrow I will try and double up on my work.

Belinda - I'm so happy for your family, the engagement ring is beautiful. Was she surprised?

Melissa - So sorry your family is going through so much:( It is so sad for your Aunt & Uncle. Maybe this will force your brother & gf to grow up faster. You'll be a great Aunt:)

Lori - Welcome back!! We have thought about you, are you still running? It must be tough not having family to help you out. Check in when you can;)

Amelia - You'll will really like P90X that was a nice gift.

Kristin - Are you back to school tomorrow, because it looks like you'll have off on Friday. They are saying they may shut down L I Expressway if it gets bad.

Cookie - I guess you'll be getting your snow shovel out too:rolleyes:

Goodnight:)

Morning girls,

I see New Years was good for you guys. We had a good time, we stayed home and watched those NYE's specials - Dick Clarks NYE's blast - or something like that. My kids looked like jack-o-lanterns looking out our windows at the neighbors fire works ...they said it was too cold to go out side to see them.

I got in a cardio Tuesday and Plan on doing a circuit tomorrow. I've got LIC in mind. I have to work today and we're going bowling or skating after work. ( i prefer bowling since im a mess on the skating rink )

Belinda-That ring in gorgeous!! Congratulations to your DS and DIL!!! :)

Lori- Glad to see you checking in :) Awesome job getting up early to get your workouts in. I saw that video the other day with your son and the phone call. He's getting big quickly. They grow up so fast...

Debbie- Are you as glad as I am that the holidays are over? Its back to normal at work now..yay.

Hello to Kristin, Melissa and Cookie!!

ok, off to get ready for work. I have to be there at 6am.

Good morning,

Thanks about the engagement! We are all happy. DS's GF is such a sweet heart. We really got to know her, since she lived with us for almost 4 month. We love her!!

Yesterday ended up being a rest day. All I did is walked the dogs. We didn't get home until the morning on NYD.

Today I need to catch up on my workouts.

Cookie - how are you feeling? Any better?

Welcome back, Lori!! I know how tough it can be not having your family around. LOL, not liking your kids spouses:p We love DS's GF.

Debbie - she was surprised:eek: We all love her, she is so sweet! I hear on getting back on track.

Melissa - so sorry your family are going through this. Maybe one of those day's they will grow up?

Kirstin - how did you like X10? How was your New Year?

Amelia - when are you starting P90X? I think you will like it.

I will be back later. Have a great day, everyone.

I will be back later. Have a great workout/day!

Good morning! Yesterday I did 4DS HIS and STS Ab Circuits med ball abs plus the core part from To the Max. I brought weights up to my parents' house so that I could workout here but the highest I brought were 15#s; I used the band for added resistance during the back work and it worked pretty well. I have some chest/back DOMS today so that's good. Today will be the triceps & biceps portions from Crosstrain Express, maybe some cardio if I'm feeling up to it :D

I was thinking of going to Kohl's today before the snowpocalypse starts to try to take advantage of some New Years sales. Then I thought people might have taken this whole week off of work so I dunno if I want to face a crowded store lol  Maybe I'll just shop online ;)

Lori, it's so great to see you back here! We missed you!! Thoughts are with you regarding your DS; I hope everything works out ok. How do you think P90X3 compares to the original?

Deb, LOL @ smelling like fish. Glad you had a great time NYE! Usually when it snows a lot, I love to bake but seriously after these past 2 weeks I can't even think about having dessert in the house

Amelia, have fun bowling! I haven't been bowling in so long. It's so fun (even though I stink). And where is our work drama, missy?! ;)

Belinda, how long have your DS and his fiancee been together? I'm so glad you all love her; a lot of people don't think that it's important for the family to get along with the spouse because they're not the ones getting married, but I think it is super important (especially because family members live outside of that bubble and can see what you might not). I hope my brother and his gf grow up, at least for the baby's sake!! I'm excited to be an aunt, I'm just worried about the baby's upbringing, my brother not having any kind of a future (since he's miserable doing what he does but he doesn't have school or any special skills behind him to get a better job)...but there's no sense dwelling on the what-ifs and negatives, right? :)

Waving hello to Kristin and Cookie!

Enjoy your day/workouts everyone!!

Hi everyone! Happy New Year! Yesterday was a rest for me. We had my friend and her family over for a Puerto Rican dinner, pernil and Spanish rice. They are like family to us and we always exchange gifts. It was the last of the holiday celebrations. I was very proud of Baxter. He was very well-behaved with the company. The dog trainer is definitely paying off.

Today I did FlexTrain for the first time. I love this workout. I love how it is a mix of metabolic training and high reps. My arms, especially my triceps felt the bite, lol. I have decided to do my own rotation for January, incorporation Xtrain with the 4 new dvds I got as well as a few from Low Impact series and TTM. I am hoping to get in 6 workouts a week. We shall see. The teacher class I am teaching after school begins this month and I am starting the state module with my classes, so I will be busy with work, but I really want to get in 6 a week and start getting serious again. I would like to be bathing suit ready before bathing suit season. :p

Lori- glad to see you back here! Happy New Year! I also worry that I won't like my sons future wives, lol. The things we worry about. . . I vow to not be a horrible mother-in-law like mine, hahaha!

Belinda- the ring is beautiful. What an exciting time for you and your family. Have they set a date? I've only done one premix from X10, but I love it and it will be in heavy rotation for months to come. I am going to do single workouts on Mondays with the dog trainer, but then do some of the longer premixes as well throughout the week. I feel like that dvd is worth every penny because there is such variety.

Cookie- You were so right about FlexTrain. . . I love it. I cannot wait to do it again.

Deb- after everyone left I was spent as well. The boys passed out and I just watched t.v. and fell asleep. Thankfully, my district is closed until Monday. I am thinking the LIE will close, but overnight after the commute. We aren't getting as much snow as the blizzard from last year, but the temps with the wind chill are going to make the road all sheet sof ice by tomorrow morning.

Amelia- I bet you are happy the holidays are over. I just saw Vanetine's DAy stuff out in the supermarket. Really? Who is buying the candy already? Crazy retailers. BTW- I cannot skate at all, lol.

Melissa- wow you've had a crazy week, huh? I'm so sorry to hear about your cousin. That must be so devastating to you and your family, I cannot imagine. As far as your brother goes. . . I agree with everyone else. . . wait and see what happens. He may surprise you and grow up. Babies have a way of putting things in perspective for some guys (the Peter Pan type). My brother is talking about having a kid and as scary as that is to me, I am excited tha tI would get to be a real aunt (my sister and I don't talk unless we have to and so I am not really the super cool aunt for my niece and nephew from her). I will spoil that kid rotten, lol.

Okay, off to shower and brace for the blizzard:rolleyes::eek:

Kristin

Hey girls,

I am done with STS D8 and P90X The Challenge:)

Melissa -DS and his fiancee been together for over 4 years! She is amazing! I hear you, but sometimes family have a difference unfortunately:confused: I know it hard on your parents and you with the situation, but there is only so much you can say or do. Some people have to learn the hard way.You make a great aunt:D Good job on your workouts.

Kirstin - thank you! Glad you liking all your new workouts. Your dinner sounds so good. I have to google that one. I like your plan. Variety is the key.

I need to get things done. See you all tomorrow.

Belinda, in agreement with importance of family approving of new family members. When you get married, you get the whole package, not just an individual. So, now you'll have lots of wedding plans to chat about.
Lori, you've been missed! I've thought about you and been wondering how you and your family have been doing. Are you doing mostly dvds now?
Melissa, hugs to you and your family. A colleague of mine suffered from depression. The last few days she was talking about the future, laughing, and all. Guess she had already made her plans and was at peace with it. Unfortunately, no one else realized it, and she left school and jumped off a bridge. It was just so shocking. It's hard to know what goes on in someone else's mind. Well, congrats on being an aunt. You'll love that.
Kristin, glad you enjoyed FlexTrain. I did AfterBurn this morning and was bright red! My poor dogs don't want to go outside. They go to the door, but once it's open, turn and walk away! Your meal sounds great.
Amelia, I prefer skating to bowling, but am bad at both. LOL at your description of your darlings like jack-o-laterns in the window watching fireworks. It's 1 degree here.
Deb, I made tuna steaks last night and smelled fishy also. Hope you're getting around okay with the storm. Hope DH feels better soon.
Feel like I'm just about back to norm. Still have a sinus infection but not that huge nastiness. Going to do Cathe's Jan rotation. Have to travel and have long days next Tuesday - Sunday, so will have to figure those as rest days. Unless I can get in yoga or something else. Yesterday did GS Legs and my calves feel bitten! Modified on burpees and spidermans in AfterBurn today.
Don't know what happened to my post of yesterday!
Cookie

Good evening,

Cookie - glad you starting to feel better:D Hate being sick:mad: Don't lets jump to conclusions……DS is full-time in college:eek: He needs to finish college first. My guess:eek:….one year or so:eek:: Fantastic job on your workouts. Oh about your post…..you posted in one of my other check ins :p I done that before, lol!

Good night, ladies.

Hey Ladies!

Today's workout was burn sets chest and shoulders....and it really burned! Then I did agility from P90x 3. It was good. Not crazy hard, like insanity. Tony's personality is growing on me. He even makes me laugh sometimes but there was a point this morning during the cool down, where I wasn't listening to him and after I while I was thinking "he's still talking!?" Holy! Tomorrow is yoga so I will do more burn sets and maybe a run and save the yoga for the evening.

Belinda** well it's good to know that your future daughter in law is good! Lol. The last thing you need is someone keeping you from your grand kids! Lol

Ameila** how goes it? Yes Ds is growing up fast. He is so funny. And he understands and says a lot! But i don't want anymore!

Deb** yep, still running. It's very different not having family around. I've thought about training for another marathon but with dh's schedule and mine, training would be difficult. How is your son?

Cookie** we settled in here quite nicely. It's different being so far from home but I think we just keep going instead of dwelling!

Ok now I have to go back and reread. I am checking in from my phone and can't scroll back to see what everyone said!

Melissa** I tried the original P90x a long time ago but I only did a couple of workouts so I can't compare. It's good though!

Kristin** so I trust that you've settled into your we house by now! Lol. How is school going? Any trips planned this year?

Ill try to check back in tomorrow!

Lori :)

Hi,

Today was my last day covering NYC store, well I am supposed to go tomorrow but I don't think that will be possible. I also went to Jersey City and finished that store for the year. I took the Path train and it is so different from NJ transit my son thinks it's because it is so cheap so people ride on it to keep warm:confused:

The stores weren't busy because everyone was at the food stores. When I walked in the manager wished me luck finding any food. I needed vegetables so it wasn't a problem:D

Belinda - I'm thinking about doing STS with P90X3 when they arrive (thanks for the idea).

Kristin - Your lucky (I think) that you won't lose a snowday:) Flex train is a really good one & a lot of pre-mixes too! Believe it or not I saw Valentine's candy the day after Christmas:confused: it's the same colors as the 1/2 off Christmas candy without the hearts;)

Amelia - I'm so happy the holidays are over! Even though around here the supermarkets are buzzing because of the snow storm especially the deli counter.

Melissa - I love to bake when it snows but maybe I'll just settle for hot chocolate:) You are getting in some good workouts at your Mom's.

Lori - My son moved in with his gf and so far so good (keeping my fingers crossed). I can see how P90X3 would work with your running. Do you work more hours now?

Cookie - I hope you have off tomorrow too. Something is going around my family too, hoping not to catch it.

Goodnight:)

'Morning! Brrrr, is it cold here! And snowy with more still coming down.
Belinda, your ds should finish college first! Totally agree with that. So that's what happened to my post!
Lori, do you still have your dogs? Juggling kids and working full time outside of the house is a huge challenge. I'm always amazed at how much you could juggle.
Amelia, I saw ads for WW last night. If I had the time to go to meetings, I probably would join, but since I don't I'd rather just check in here.
Melissa, you sure are busy and have lots of plans. Are your parents traveling this weekend? Hope everyone is safe with the snow and ice.
Kristin, my husband was generous the past two weeks w/exercising the dogs in the yard. He enjoys throwing sticks and balls for them. However, yesterday he was frozen. Makes me realizes how lucky I am to just open the door and let them run out. What will you do with Baxter today?
Deb, didn't know there was such a difference between NJTransit and PATH. Your job sounds like a workout in itself.
Up early b/c ds wants a ride into work. Since the driveway hasn't been plowed since midday yesterday, I don't think he's going anywhere. Just listened to weather report - he's not going.
GS on tap for this morning. Still feeling my left calf from Wednesday's workout!
Cookie

Morning

So yesterday was a real doosie at work. OMG the drama in the deli girls..

I consider myself an observer when I hear co-workers gossip. I listen but keep to myself. Well yesterday I was helping a customer and I couldn't hear him because there was 6 women gathered about 10 feet away from me gossiping and venting over one particular girl. Apparently this girl has accused one of them of not doing her job and sent a text message to another one in confidence venting about it - and she was showing the text message to everyone there  it got pretty ugly. And there suppose to go to the manager this morning about it and confront the texting girl...I kinda wished I worked today to see the action packed scene ;)

Ok, I will bbl to report my workout. Oh and me and dd are working on this. We already have the hearts cut out. Today we are getting it altogether. its so cute. We also plan on painting her room in the next few months.

Good morning,

I will do P90X3 CVX today.

Cookie -my son wants to finish college first. I have no worries:) I know, his fiancé feels the same way! Have fun with GS today.

Amelia - OMG…the drama in with your deli girls:eek: How do you like P90X?

Debbie - arr…that's said:( People have ride Path train to keep warm. You are welcome about mixing STS w/P90X3. It's doable!

Lori - Christina wouldn't do that:D She is all for the family. We even offered to have their wedding in El Paso, her entire family lives there:D I never had a good relationship with my husbands mom:mad: My husband's mom never cared about my husband, my kids or me! I do want to be my kids lives and be a good future mother in law:D I also know, I can give them my honest advice but on the end it's their diction :D They also have to make their own mistakes, I know we did;)

I will be back later, still drinking my coffee:p

Hi ladies. We are snowed in today. DH worked from home. I have some lesson planning to do, but I keep putting it off. Someone on Facebook posted that there are 143 days until summer. . . I am starting my own countdown, lol. Baxter was too funny this morning. I opened the back door, ten inches of snow at the door jam and he took one looked and backed away whimpering. Once I got him out there, I had to go with him, he was leaping and jumping and racing me. I took him out twice to work him out and get some of his energy out. It seems to have worked a bit.

I tried Rockout Knockout. I liked it but I think I like HS more. I see how she took different boxing/kickboxing strategies: cardio, boxing low impact KB. I think I just need to do it a few more times to get the hang of it. It was a good burn though. My shoulders are sore from yesterday too.

Tomorrow I think I will do PRS #2 again. That one was a lot of fun.

Cookie- let us know how you like the rotation. Have you done X10 in its entirety yet? I've only done two combined and I was toasted. I plan on doing a few of the shorter premixes this month and see how it goes. I made cookies today, per my sons' request and now I am eating them, lol.

Amelia- it is fun to witness drama when you are not involved in it. So much gossip goes on at my job I often wonder if being in middle school has affected the adults to think as middle schoolers do. . . lol. I stay in my classroom most of the time.

Belinda- I didn't realize your son was still in college. Two years at least then, right? Plenty of time to plan, celebrate and do other things. How long are the P90X3 workouts. Are they cardio or weights or both?

Deb- your son may be onto something regarding the cheaper train. So sad. I am assuming you stayed home today :). You are right about me not missing a snow day. I'm very happy about that. I think this winter is going to be a bad one.

Lori- The house is great. I love being here. We had our first Christmas in it and we have had many get togethers and friends over for parties, bbqs and holidays. It feels good to own a house I am proud of. We also got a dog, a boxer puppy, in August. We named him Baxter. He is my third child, lol. We would have never been able to have gotten him in the old house. . . not enough room. School is good, but I miss my students from last year. How have you been in the new place? Did you buy a house? Sell your old one or are you still renting it?

Waving hello to Melissa.

Kristin

Hey girls

Kristin- your doggy sounds adorable. I don't think any of my inside dogs have seen snow...maybe the oldest one ( chihuahua ) I'd like to see the boxers reaction. By the looks of the weather I'm sure it will be soon - 9 degree's this coming up Monday for my area. Thats very rare for GA weather. Its only a matter of time before snow comes. Nice job with your workout.

Belinda- how did your workout go? I didn't know they made a 3rd p90x...very neat. I haven't received p90x yet, its on its way in the mail though...can't wait to get my hands on it :)

Cookie- How did GS go yesterday? I couldn't believe how cold it was yesterday here and were suppose to have a windchill of -10 on Monday  thats just crazy!! Great job on your workouts girl!!

Debbie- Glad things have slowed down for you since the holiday rush. I kinda miss the Christmas songs though - they're so cheery :D

Melissa-School is starting back soon for you right? How much longer do you have?

Yesterday I did 45 minutes of low impact circuit. I have to work this morning but im thinking about doing something after work. maybe some weights? I will pop in tonight if I decide to workout. :)

Oh and I've almost finished reading The Body Fat Solution, really liked his approach on eating healthy and reprogramming your mind on food. I feel its helping me choose healthier options :) He has a fitness program that he goes by but I'm waiting on p90x to get here. ;)
