I'd just quit wearing pants!:p

If low-rise go out of style... I'm shopping vintage!

Thanks for all the great responses ladies... glad to hear that my tummy's not alone!

In reality, you dont' have to come to terms with it. It's a choice. I would not come to terms with my butt and thighs a couple of years ago so I had liposuction. I am now thinking about a mini tummy tuck maybe next year.

Of course, cosmetic or plastic surgery isn't for everyone, but I'm very happy I did it.

Me, too! I got too thin a few years ago as I was trying to get rid of the pooch in the lower abs. Now, I try to eat clean and accept the small pooch as part of me.

I don't have the cash to go that route at this point but if I did I would certainly consider it!

Cash is definitely an issue as cosmetic surgery is typically not covered by insurance. I just wanted to point out that we don't have to accept (or come to terms with) our problem areas. There are other choices :)

Candi, coming to terms with the imperfections of our bodies is a normal part of life. You should try it sometime.

I totally agree. I dont believe that one should to HAVE to accept their problem area/s...If they do accept them then that's fine but if not, then that is fine too.

I, personally, would not resort to cosmetic surgery but for those who do, good on them I reckon! Each to their own.

Anyway, my problem area is definitely my thunder thighs...Just call me the "Thunder from Down Under" LOL :p

delfin, Maybe take a look at your diet and see if there are foods in your diet causing a bloat. That could be the issue! Foods that cause excess gas. You just may need to change some food items around.

Nancy,

If you accept your imperfections, why do you go to such an exclusive place to get your haircuts and pay what to some of us would equate to a car payment for it? You can accept imperfections in your body but you can't accept an imperfect haircut? Hmmm.

Like Sly said, "Different strokes for different folks". You appear to have a hard time accepting that concept.

Sara, I agree...

I just bought the south beach diet book thinking maybe later hubby may want to give it a try if he gets fed up with atkins...

I knew that caffeine wasn't really good for us but didn't know why, well after reading this, the caffeine stimulates the pancreas causing it to produce more insulin, this isn't good..

Also, its not just what you eat, but how you eat it!!!! Gosh there is so much to learn about nutrition and digestion...

So there are many things people don't know about eating thats causing them problems when it comes to losing weight...

Oh boy, the heat is coming...:)
I sort of agree with Candi, it is a choice. You come to terms with things when they are not priority anymore and they lose their importance, OR when you realize that there is nothing that you can do about it. You can certainly have totally flat abs if you are willing to pay the price for it, wheather it's diet, exercise or surgery or most likely the combination of all.
I guess the older we get the more we realize that there are a lot more important things in life (say our good health for example) than the "pouch". One can be in excellent health and have a pouch or vica versa, very poor health without the pouch. So which one you pick? Now, in my case, I want both, and that's not so easy, but I'm willing to keep it "priority" and pay the price -- at least for now. But it is a choice.

Candi, I think you are missing the point of Delfin's post. She is saying what do you do when you've tried everything you know of to change a body part you're not crazy about. She seems to be talking about a little pooch here, the kind a lot of us have. If she wanted surgical recommendations, I don't think she would be asking how to come to terms with it.

Nancy,

Please do not talk to me like I am a child because I'm a bit older than you. I get the point of the post. I don't think you get the point. I was saying accepting whatever we accept in life is a choice...not a requirement. I was not directing my comment at you. I was just stating a fact that might not have been considered which is acceptable on this forum.

Also, not to start a war here because that is not my intent but I feel your comments to me extremely condescending, therefore, my reaction to your suggestion that "I ought to try it sometime". And, also, your nasty comment to me a few weeks ago not to "share what occurs to me on this website" was extremely rude, nasty and uncalled for especially because it had nothing to do with you.

I am glad this is Cathe.com and not Nancy.com because I believe if it were, with you as mediator, there would be very little acceptable discussion.

Okay, I feel better. Thanks for letting me vent :)
