Clean & Tidy - Tuesday 6/26

Well, I was doing semi-good at posting here and pretty good at clean eating until about a week and a half ago. ....Then...vacation for 10 days with DH and 2 young daughters. They love ice cream. They love cheeseburgers. And they can eat them without obvious or immediate repercussions. I cannot. I have ate healthy meals, but WAY too many snacks in between...and bites of kids' cheeseburgers.

Today is our last day of vacation and I want so badly to end it with good clean eating. I'm actually looking forward to getting home so I can cook for myself again and be back on a normal schedule. I DID bring a few Cathe DVDs with me and have worked out most days. But the way my belly looks...ugh.

And I really could go on a tangent about water. I love my ice water. I crave it. But hotel water....yuck. Something about it. The ice is so wierd here and I just want the water at my house! ...crying... I feel so dehydrated.

So I'm going to do better today and looking forward to keeping strong in my convictions to be healthy.

Breakfast is going to be a very veggie omelet and some pineapple. Not sure about the rest of the day - we'll be on our way home with a long drive, but the grilled chicken salad at Burger King is awesome so hopefully I'll be able to get that on the way.

Thank you all! The encouragement here is exactly what I need.

Isn't it funny how when you have been eating clean and then stop you feel terrible and can't wait to eat clean again. It really does make a difference doesn't it.

Well so far today has been good.

B -Orange
S - Two bananas
L - Oats, cashews, pumpkin seeds, almonds, sunflower seeds and sultanas with yoghurt
S - Don't know yet. Still full from lunch
D - Stir fried vegies

Workout this morning was Boot camp followed by cardio from Body max 2.

Kim & tneah--thanks for helpful input on the water drinking.

I've never tried the "drink a glass every hour," but I think I'll try it. I, too, try to carry a cup or water bottle around with me. Problem these days is that I get busy in one room, set the glass down, walk to another room, and completely forget to take the water with me. LOL.;)

That's when I realize a couple hours later that I left the bottle, have not been drinking, and am dry!

Speaking of, I think I need a drink now!!

So far, so good today. I had 1/2 banana before Imax 3, then bran flakes and milk for breakfast. Snack here in 15 minutes will be papaya and the other 1/2 of that banana, maybe some mango if we have it in the fridge (gotta get my fill of these tropical fruits before we head to the States next month!)

Hi Kate, Kim, and Laura! I LOVE my water. One thing I didn't used to do that I do now (read about it in Tosca's book) is drink at least 32 oz. of water the minute I wake up. It really helps and makes me feel refreshed and hydrated first thing in the morning.

I did well yesterday until bedtime. PMS reared its ugly head big time!!! I had two servings of hummus and chips and the ENTIRE box of Whoppers (malted milk balls). I am talking about the big box that looks like a milk carton!!! I have NEVER done that before!!! The day started well with a protein shake, fruit, some veggie jerky, etc. It was last night that went badly!!! Oh well, at least there are no more Whoppers in the house!

I did an iTread 60 minute endurance yesterday run which was fun. It was #14. I want to do another one today but also have to do weights.

I am not sure what I am eating today but it is going to be super clean because I feel like crap from yesterday!

good morning clean eaters :)

i have another unexpected wrench. my aunt's father has passed away after a long illness, so my mom and i are traveling to connecticut tonight and tomorrow for the services. my next few meals will be out, so i'm going to have to make some good choices.

i will be back on the check in thursday - have a good tuesday and wednesday everyone!

I have been eating terribly lately, and pretty much ignoring it. I'll try to do better starting today.

Bfast - ww eng muffin with almond butter and jelly. banana
Lunch - nat PB&J on WW, carrots, berry salad
Snack - cheeries
Dinner - Penne with shrimp, salad
Workout - one of the Gym Styles, not sure which one

I made DD soft sugar cookies for her birthday. They will be hard to avoid, but I'll do my best.

Lorie, I love whoppers! In moderation.

Laura, my DH rants and raves about people and their water bottles. He says "How did our mother's manage to make it through the grocery store without a water bottle?" Of course, at 52, I think I look better, and am certainly fitter then either his or my mom were at that age.

Kate, I have a vacation coming up right before the road trip. I'm worried about the eating....

Hi Kim. That sounds like quite a workout. When I do Boot Camp, there is no way I could do an additional cardio workout. Good for you.

Kate, when I travel, and I am a total water freak too, I buy three quarts of Evian or bottled water in the AM, drink one right away, and put the others on ice or in the fridge-if your hotel has one? It assures that I get all of my water in, so I feel right.
Hi, to eveyone else I missed and anyone who posts later...

I did LIC timesaver cardio yesterday and Leaner (Meaner) Legs last night. Geez, that workout is just plain old cruel.

I did pretty good yesterday, although I did eat a small,fresh mozzarella ball, I went to Whole Foods and saw the caprese salad which my DH loves, and I just had to "sample" it! Other than that, I have switched my regular 2 percent milk in my coffee for lowfat soy, cannot taste the difference and its better for you right?
Got some soynut butter instead of my beloved reduced fat Jif, that stuff is full of sugar which is why it tastes so good.

So am trying to make some different choices.

On the menu 2day...B-fruit

S-fresh tuna, seared on the stove with PAM, salt and pepper over fresh spinach with a little reduced sodium soy sauce

L-Fat Flush tortilla with broccoli sprouts

S-fruit, maybe another tortilla stuffed with veggies and some sort of protien

D-large salad with remaining tuna and a few rice cakes or a tortilla

3 quarts of water

AM workout will be either PlyoX (I always say that!) or 45 min, on my elliptical, PM weights will be P90X's chest and back.

Lorie - when not on vacation I drink 32 oz. + in the morning too. At first it made me so nauseus to do it but now I really crave it to start my day. Sorry about the Whoppers, too. I know that feeling of "at least there are no more (insert yummy/bad food) in the house"

Want afunny story why it made me nauseus? When I was pregnant with my first daughter I had an early AM ultrasound. I still had some wicked morning sickness AND I had to drink all that water right away and I ate my cereal for breakfast too. On the way to the appt. my DH and I had to drive by our office to do some emergency thing. He was driving and FLYING thru the subdivision so that we wouldn't be late. I said to him "Stop the car I need to get sick." He was all "No time! You'll be fine. Just lay down." Well, I wasn't fine and he wasn't stopping the car. As we went around this bend (very curvy subdivision) I opened the door (we weren't going too fast) and PUKED all of my water I had so diligently drank. He actually did stop the car then and said "Woah! That sounded like a waterfall!" So ever since then I had felt nauseus to drink water in the morning! My younger sisters love when I tell this story!

Tneah - I'm curious about trying a pb besides Jif. What are your/anyone else's faves? Almond butter? - I think I've read some of you eat this.

Sorry to ramble for so long - we're driving home from our vacation & there isn't much else to do. (Besides listen to our girls' complaining that it's taking too long......)


Robin - Good luck on the sugar cookies. My father in law wants me to make him some snickerdoodles. I want to because I love to cook for others but then I get SO TEMPTED to indulge. My sister and I have actually been known to wrestle food out of eachother's hands to help eachother eat clean! Ha ha! AND we spray Windex on food in the trash so we won't eat it. You all understand don't you!? Please?!

Cody - Good luck with the travelling! Hope you do better than I did!
 
The soynut butter actually tastes like pb to me! Pleasant surprise! I thought about trying cashew or almond butter as well.

I haven't posted in a couple of days--sorry! I'm doing okay with the clean eating, but I think I'm getting tired of eating salads every day for lunch. I'm going to try tuna or a whole-wheat wrap with chicken and lettuce, tomatoes, etc.. Yesterday I had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch on whole wheat bread. I need to find a way to put a padlock on the pb jar! I've given up chocolate with this clean eating, but now I think peanut butter has taken its place as my weakness!! Anyway, I'm waiting for the UPS lady to bring my new workouts--I ordered the Pyramids, K. Spreen's Absolute Kickboxing, and A. Bento's Kickbox Extreme. Like a lot of you, I'm totally spoiled by Cathe, but I have almost all of her workouts and wanted to try someone new. I'm crossing my fingers I won't be disappointed in these new dvd's. Today's breakfast was whole wheat toast with an apple. Lunch will be some tuna on lettuce and yogurt with berries. Maybe dinner will be pork chops with sweet potatoes, salad, and one more veggie. Hoping to do a new workout today. Have a super day!

Today I did Imax 2. My house does not have any AC so it was a hot workout today.


Today's Food;
1. Blueberry Smoothie
2. 1 cup cereal, 1 apple
3. hemp bread w/ hummus, salad w/ light dressing
4. banana carob smoothie, 3 prunes
5. I do not know what is for dinner yet. I am going to try to keep it light and maybe make a salad or something.
 
Good afternoon, clean & tidy eaters!

I'm getting a bit of a late start here because I had a doctor's appointment this morning. Sounds like everyone is doing great today & here is what my day has looked like so far:

This morning, I did a workout I've only attempted once because I usually don't have enough time. But since I had some extra time to work out due to the doctor's appointment, I did the BootCamp/ME Bonus Combo & doubled all the cardio segments. I also added a few reps here & there if I didn't feel enough emphasis was placed on that muscle group. Wowza, what a workout... & I loved it. I'd work out like that every day... & add stretch/yoga too... if I had the time. But alas, I need money so I have to work... & here I am.:p

This morning, I scarfed down a bowl of grits with an egg before heading out to the doctor. I also had a couple cups of coffee & a large cup of water. Since I didn't get to work until almost lunchtime, I stopped at McDonald's & got their Southwest Salad but I only used a smidgen of the dressing. It was yummy! I will probably have a container of yogurt for a snack this afternoon & I have no idea what I'll have for supper yet. Last night went straight down the tubes with supper so I won't even go there. But today is a new day & I've done realy good so far.

Kate - Hope you enjoyed your vacation. I was LOL at your water story!:7

Laura - Sounds like you're off to a great start today. I know what you mean about the water intake & I finally bought one of those big jugs (it holds 74 ozs.) & fill it with Brita water every evening so I finish it off by the time I get home each day. It's been working for me so maybe it's worth a try?;-)
Lorie - So you WHOPPED the PMS monster?:7 :+ Just kidding! Like you said, at least they're gone now...
Tneah - Great workout & meal plan for today. I love soynuts... I'll have to try the butter too. I've been eating Naturally More & I really like it...:)

Ugh! My stomach turns when I think about Whoppers!!! Maybe that's a good thing. Kind of like those quit smoking programs. I heard some make you smoke and smoke and smoke until you get so sick you don't ever want to see a cigarette again. I've never smoked, so I don't know if that would work but I can tell you the mere thought of Whoppers right now makes me ill!

Today was good so far. I didn't eat breakfast because I was seriously nauseous after last night. After my iTread (I think I'm addicted), I had a protein bar. For snack, I had 3 hardboiled egg whites. Next snack was tomatoes and arugala w/ balsalmic. I just had hummus and soy/flaxseed chips. I will probably have some fruit later.

I CAN NOT let the PMS monster win!!! I am supposed to get AF tomorrow or the next day, so hopefully the monster will be gone soon. Must...Not...Give...In. Must...Resist...Sugar!!!
