Clean Eating/Weight Loss Update

After I logged out I realized today was my one-month clean eating anniversary so I logged back on to tell everyone I'm down 16lbs. since I started. I'm happy but I have to say my clothes are NOT fitting all that much more loosely. Hmmm. But now that I'm back to weight training, in addition to the cleanER eating, maybe those pants will finally loosen up. We'll see. I'm just glad to FINALLY be safely under the 180lb. mark (still up-and-down but my ups and downs are between 177-179).

Great Job!!! You should be very proud of yourself, don't worry stick with it the results WILL show, it's all about consistancy.

Hang in there,
Marcia.

Congratulations!

(Note: The first month of weight loss can be pretty rapid, but don't be disappointed if you can't keep it up. 4 lbs. per week is not a realistic rate of weight loss over the long term.)

That is true. As you reach your 'happy weight" your body starts slowing down the loss a bit, but nothing that cannot be fixed by cranking up your workouts and consistency! Way to go, you should be really proud of yourself, plus, you must feel fantastic.:7

Way to Go ! ! !

Keep it up and you will see results. I think the weight training will help the pants get looser - first the muscles get a bit larger but then the fat around them will start to disappear. At least that's what happens with me. My pants legs get tighter first, then the legs slim down. And the same happens to me in the backend too !

Congratulations - make sure to keep us posted on those stubborn pants.

Yea, results are already starting to slow. I was down half a pound this morning but you know how that goes... up two tomorrow... But the constantly fluctuating numbers don't upset me because I know I'm gradually working my way down. Yea, I was really surprised when I looked at the numbers and realized it was 16lbs. in one month. But NOBODY'S noticed so it sounds more spectacular than it looks. When I injured my shoulder I had gotten down to size 14 jeans but when I stopped exercising I gained back fast and had to get a few pairs of size 16 (same brand & style). It was very disheartening. I've always done lots of cardio and it never really helped me lose weight, weight training was always my magic bullet so since I couldn't lift I just stopped exercising altogether. But I was really afraid of backsliding any further and that's when I found out about clean eating and started that. I'm not following a specific plan but I've gotten very good about planning and making sure I usually cover all my nutrition bases (though I could probably use a nutritionist to really analyze what I'm eating because I'm sure there are mistakes I'm making), though every time my health takes a hit (like last week's stomach flu) so does my nutrition (I lost 3 lbs. in one night while sick but indulged in ice cream at the end, with predictable results). I'm still not eating enough protein and I catch myself forgetting to pack vegetables a lot... You have to think all the time and it's work - but it's worth it. This week I began easing back into weight training and am starting to add in cardio (I may miss cardio but I NEVER miss weight training). I'm being very careful of my shoulder but I'm anxious to see the changes that will result when I'm doing all three (weight training, clean eating, and cardio) regularly and mindfully. So I'm keeping on (sigh). Thanks for all your encouragement.

If you are worried you are not getting enough of certain foods, its interesting to log in what you eat at Fitday.com and then go to the nutrition (can't remember exactly what its called) and it will tell you exactly how much vitamin E, D, C, Calcium, etc. you have gotten in your day. You can see exactly what you are lacking, kinda interesting.

I've never tried fitday, but you can do the same thing on the sparkpeople.com nutrition tracker too....and I know that one is FREE. Also, if you click on the daily report at the bottom of your nutrition tracker it will give your macronutrient breakdown (in a pie chart format) so you can see what percentages of each you have eaten during the day. That tool has really helped me increse my protein intake.

Cool. I'm going to check out both sites. Sounds like just what I need because I'm never REAL sure I'm doing everything right.
