Clean Eating - Wed. May 30/07

Hello Everyone.

1. Protein Smoothie
2. 2 oranges, three brazil nuts
3. Black Bean soup, salad, apple
4. Carob Banana Smoothie
5. ?? If I get hungry later I will probably make a salad or something

Geez girl, you hardly eat anything!! How do you do it?

I feel like a eat a ton compared to alot of you all(I think Shelley mentioned this) maybe I need to practice a little more portion control!:7

Good clean eats to all! Oh, I did KenpoX this AM, tonight's its shoulders, arms and Ab RipperX}( Eeek.

One more thing? Why the heck do I always want something sweet after I eat? I eat lots of protein, good fats, carbs, etc...its that afterwards I want something sweet. Weird. So far, I have not given in, I make a cup of coffee and add a Splenda or something to satisfy the urge. But it drives me nuts I tell ya!x(

Hi tneah! First of all P90X 2x a day is a lot! No wonder why your always hungry. I too was constantly hungry when I did P90X. Great job on not giving into your cravings. Stay strong. Usually if you eat too many fruits high in sugar (melons, bananas, pears) it will spike your insulin. Maybe this is why? Kathy

Thanks Kathy, that is a good observation. I eat berries, as I do not like fruit really (I actually prefer veggies any day!)

And yep, two workouts are alot, but I do not have kids, I work from home and my energy is better in the evening for the weight workouts, the cardio in the AM gets me moving and groovin for the rest of the day. But you are right, its alot, which requires a few more calories I suppose!
:9

Just not calories from stuff like M&M's, Reese's Peanut butter cups, etc...

Tneah, I have that sweet craving thing happening too. Also, when I wake up from a nap, I instantly feel that I must eat. I'm thinking that it's some kind of throwback to when I was a kid. You know how after you woke up from a nap, it was snack time? Wierd huh?

Today wasn't bad.
B- oatmeal w/a peach and lit soy mile
S - watermelon
L-salad w/almonds and Balsam vinegar, cherries
S - plain yogurt w/oat bran
D- soybean loaf ,steamed broccoli and cauliflower

And here's the rest of my day:

Lunch ~ Chicken tenderloins w/ swiss cheese on light flatbread; carrots & broccoli w/ light ranch; fruit salad

Snack ~ 15 Kashi TLC crackers w/ NM PB, light activia yogurt

Dinner ~ Salad w/ chicken tenderloins, cucumbers, broccoli, carrots, & light honey mustard; fruit salad

Dessert ~ Fudgy PB chip Vitatop (http://www.vitalicious.com ... not totally clean but a great sweet treat w/ some vitamins & only 100 cals) w/ NM PB

Thanks, bceogirl!! I did my workout as soon as I woke up this morning, before I got hungry for breakfast. I'll be glad when the
colon test is over--ugh!! Thanks again for the good luck wish!

Taa Daa!!! Two days of moderately clean eating. Like Debbie, I'm not trying to eat as squeaky clean as most of you, but I am trying to stick to healthy, fresh food with no extra snacks. Today I started with WW english muffin with almond butter and 1/2 banana. Lunch was natural PB and homemade J on WW, carrots, tomato and a fresh fruit salad. Dinner was a delish veggie asparagus, cheddar and almond open face sandwich on pumpernickel bread. Fresh pineapple and strawberries for desset. Today's workout was the step premix from Cardio Fusion. LOL about the bathingsuit-fear everyone has. I'm visiting friends and family in VA Beach in July - big time incentive to try to slim and tone a bit. See you all tomarrow.

Phyllis,

I know me too! As soon as I wake up--from a nap in particular--its like my sweet tooth monster or hunger monster rears its ugly head!:D

I am trying to reach for protein during these "challenging" times, and need to rid my nest of all M&M's (much to my hubby's dismay to be sure)
I leave cute containers of them all over the house (we have people over all the time for business and they all love to eat M&M's!)

Your doggy is too cute, and you my dear are too fit! Look at those cut arms you have! Must be that yummy soybean loaf you made!:7

As for the bathing suit fear. Guess what I am dealing with? Due to my bum right hip, no matter how hard I work my butt the right cheek has grown softer and frankly quite disgusting over the past year--due to my inability to walk correctly and use certain gluteal muscles. SOOO, I have one great, in shape ass cheek (that would be the left one-thanks to our dear Cathe) and one saggy, loose butt cheek thanks to arthritis! x( Which totally freaks me out when I think of baring my bottom in a bikini!;(

Maybe I can cover my right cheek, while leaving the left exposed or something!

I'm sorry tneah, but your description of your uneven butt cheeks has me rolling. If it's any consolation, I'm sure you are the only one who notices the difference.

Hi there fellow clean eaters! First off I have to say that this was exactly the motivation I've needed lately. Now when the cravings for not so good things kick in I simply tell myself that I'll have to take responsibility for it here and everyone is really doing well. It must be that "bathing suit season" thing, right Shelley?!

I've had a great day food-wise (not so otherwise x(!)...

B - 2 egg whites with guacamole, oatmeal and half a grapefruit
S - missed because of work
L - missed because of work ;( x(
S - salad with tuna, cottage cheese, apple and a slice of sprouted flaxseed bread with natural PB (had to make up for lost time :p)
D - Chipotle grilled chicken, grilled balsamic veggies and roasted cauliflower and probably some grapes and plain yogurt for dessert

Thanks for the push everyone!
Wendi

I'm really enjoying the challenge of having to "report" to everyone what I eat. It makes me think twice before I put something in my mouth.

I was inspired to do this check-in because, on the Ask Cathe forum, she was responding to someone who asked about clean eating. This person (I forget who), had an injury and still needed to lose weight for a special occasion. Cathe told her that 3 weeks of REALLY clean eating would do the job. I was amazed. Of course, none of us are going to stop exercising, but I was impressed at how much clean eating could do by itself, if you were forced. So, I was inspired to take things "up a notch" for a week to try to jump start a little weight loss before furlough and all the temptations that brings!

Thanks for being there to hold me accountable. I can tell a difference after just 3 days.

Here was today:
B-multi grain cheerios and milk
S-banana and PB
L-pasta and homemade marinara sauce, carrot sticks (the pasta had to be white because we have to make our own wheat pasta and I haven't had time)
S-oatmeal apricot bar and milk
D-white chili (made with lean chicken, white beans, and chicken broth--NOT lots of cream and milk), raw veggie plate with 1Tdressing, fresh mango

See ya tomorrow.

Laura

Oh, yes, I did have one bite of oatmeal-PB-choc chip cookies that we made. But just a bite, and not the whole cookie. I had to make sure they had turned out OK, didn't I? ;-)
