Clean Eating June 5

Hi everyone!

Phyllis - I think you made a great choice, considering your options. Keep up the good work!

Shelley - Sounds like you have a great menu & workout planned. Let us know what you end up eating for snack #1... I'm always looking for new ideas.

Wendi - You could have made a much worse choice than raisins so good job feeding that sweet tooth with dried fruit!

Lorie - Hope your tummy feels better soon.

Cody - I know what you mean about getting to bed earlier, although I never seem to do it either. We do no wrong when we're asleep, right?

Stephanie - I like Amy Bento's Hi/Lo Xtreme but I don't have anything else by her. Try to stay warm in that crazy weather you're having.

Gayle - Day 8... great job! Glad you're seeing results... I'm inspired!

Bceogirl - I almost tried that new Starbucks drink over the weekend too... sounds yummy. Oh, I ate plenty of other unclean stuff to make up for not ordering it... which is why I'm here - LOL.

Patty - I agree with you about everyone's menu... & yours sounds good too.

Shirl - Oh, that omelet sounds good. Enjoy!

Carola - I'm the same way as you about my cheat meals/days... that's why I take the weekends off. Otherwise, I think I'd go bananas (mmmm... bananas).

Tneah - Good job avoiding the PMS sweet tooth. A sandwich with light wheat bread was a much better choice. BTW, I can totally relate to what you're going through right now.

Hi Carrie & Jess!

Thanks everyone for the egg white ideas - I never would have thought of that myself.

I didn't sleep well last night... I think it must have something to do with this time of the month. So I'm running on about 4 1/2 hours today... oh well. Anyway, my morning started out with 2 cups of coffee & a large glass of water. My workout was IMAX 2.

Meal 1: Nonfat yogurt with about 1/2 c. Kashi cereal mixed in
Snack: Whole Banana
Water with Green Tea to Go (is this stuff bad/unclean?)
Meal 2: Kashi organic frozen dinner (is this okay?)
Water
Snack: Apple with Naturally More peanut butter
(Maybe some dry Kashi cereal if I'm still hungry)
Snack (when I get home): Almonds
Meal 3: Large mixed greens salad as described y-day
(Option #2: Grilled veggies with chicken breast or salmon)

I'm not sure I'm eating enough... what do you ladies think? Oh, I eat when I'm hungry but try to make healthy choices. I always keep extra yogurt, cottage cheese, peanut butter, pretzels/crackers, & dried fruit around in case I get hungry so I can always add something if you ladies think I need it. TIA for any advice you can offer.

Wishing everyone a healthy day!

Hi, everyone!

Hope you're all having a good Tuesday. Here's my workout and food for the day:
Workout--Low Max
B--Kashi waffles with sugar-free syrup, coffee
L--salad with grilled chicken
D--light Waldorf salad, pork chops, another cooked veggie

Does anyone know where I can buy quinoa? I want to try one of the recipes in the Eat Clean Diet book, but Kroger didn't have quinoa.
If you have any ideas of where to find quinoa grains, please let me know. Thanks, and have a great day!
Valerie

Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, or any natural food market. I buy mine in bulk at Whole Foods. I think it's $1.99/pound.

Good afternoon Clean eaters!

Still waiting for Tosca's book to arrive meanwhile I have completed today's workout and have consumed over 32 oz of water.

Late evenings are where I usually fall off the clean eating train but last night I did good and made a smoothie using protein powder and some fruits I had one hand. Very filling indeed and felt good that I didn't eat something 'non' clean to end my day yesterday.

Today eats that are planned:

Brunch: oatmeal with a protein shake
snack: apples or tomatoes :9
mid afternoon meal: tuna on a bed of greens
snack: hard boiled eggs
evening meal: left over chicken breasts w/ sweet potato

Let's see how I'll do tonight, I need to stock up on more fresh fruits and veggies

No morning snack, ate a bit later breakfast. Then headed outside to play w/ the kiddos, I'll be burning off more cals jumping them on the trampoline for sure!

Lunch ~ Veggie burger w/ thin slice swiss on 1 slice WW bread; broccoli cole slaw & cucumbers w/ light vinaigrette

Don't feel too bad. I have been lying in bed watching a marathon of Kathy Griffin: Life on the D-List (never saw it before...kinda funny). Totally beng lazy and feeling crappy. On top of that, I just got my Core Max and Cardi Fusion delivered but I feel too crappy to do it! :(

Lorie

Just have time for a quick post. Hot cereal with raisins and soy milk for b-fast. Open face cheddar, asparagus sandwich thingie for lunch. Banana and strawberries for snack. Not sure what's for dinner. Gotta hit the grocery store. Workout was KPC. Have a good day.

Okay, so far today has looked like:

Workout: lie in bed and feel like crap

B: protein shake w/ bee pollen, wheat germ, flaxseed, banana, blackberries
S: walnuts and raisins
L: 1 1/2 turkey meatballs
S: raisins
D: probably just some red peppers and hummus

Since I am feeling under the weather, I don't have a huge appetite.

I hope I am feeling better tomorrow because I really want to try out my new DVD's!!!

Lorie

Everything's been good so far.

Soooo tired:(, drags self to bed early...

Hope everyone had a great day. I will post better tomorrow.
Carrie

Ok, no clean eating for me today, other than my breakfast. I piged out, I just got my period, I am cranky as hell and I ate everything that I could find in my fridge, fortunately not much in there, I still haven't been to the store. I ate 3 THREE grapefruit frozen fruit bars, a handful of pumpkin seeds, yogurt, and a 1 oz bag of chips, a sandwich with almond butter, a few slices of cheese and salami (blech - I usually hate that stuff), a slice of WW bread with chocolate spread, lots of fruit and two glasses of milk.

I know it doesn't sound too bad (it could be worse) but I just feel yucky!!! I think I am going to go to bed with a heating pad, go to sleep to stop me from eating any more :)

Oh well, tomorrow is a new day, Ms. Scarlett.

Have a great evening everyone!

Carola

Snack after jumping my dd's on the trampoline ~ SF fudge stick, 15 mixed nuts

Dinner ~ Spinach & broccoli cole slaw salad w/ chicken breast, FF cheddar, light Asian dressing; 1/2 c. brown rice; and then less than 1/2 of my dd's leftover cheeseburger on WW bun- it was too yummy to resist!

Dessert ~ Slice of homemade choc. chip banana bread (healthier, but I still call it a *treat*)

So... not squeaky clean but could have been worse! ;-)

Hi Cody,

It's a recipe from May 2007 Cooking Light and I decided to try it for the first time tonight. I'm sitting down enjoying it as we speak...it's absolutely DELISH :9 !!! I can copy the recipe for you for tomorrow if you'd like. The short version...onion, green onions, cider vinegar, brown sugar (I subbed agave), thyme, allspice, nutmeg, habanero, garlic, salt and pepper, all go for a spin in the food processor and marinate chicken overnight. The plantains that go with are yummy, too. I have to say that I've really liked everything that I've tried from that magazine. Let me know if you want the full details.

Although Shelley's sounds awfully good, too. It must be hard having a chef for a hubby ;-) .

Wendi

Actually Carola, it doesn't sound that bad. You could have pigged out on junk food and lots of chocolate (that's what I probably would have done).

So, is it bad that DF and I are already planning what we are going to eat once our two weeks are up? Not that we are going to go crazy, but I am really missing my chocolate (and he is missing his beer). I do think we won't eat/drink as much as we used to. He actually told me today that he is feeling so much better eating this way. I was happy and surprised.

Lorie

Oh, that's an evil thought Gayle }( !

I can't take credit for the guac...saw it on FitTV (part of the Zone diet).

The day is not over yet, Lorie}( I still have a whole jar of that Nutella chocolate spread. I am afraid if I don't go to sleep, I might just take a spoon and eat the whole thing. Oh lordy, someone please stop me!!!

Wow, no cheating for 2 weeks, huh?? I wouldn't be able to do this, I plan little cheats for every day. Two weeks of no cheating, I'd be ravenous!!!

Well, I am off to bed now! Good night!!

Carola

Hi everyone, I have been away and haven't been able to check in for a while. I see we are doing a roll call so here goes:

Name: Kim
Age: 33
Location: Tasmania, Australia
Occupation: SAHM
Children: 4yo DD and 3yo DS
DH: married 5 years very happily
I am doing this to lose my last 10 pounds (hopefully). I know my weak spot is around 4.00 p.m. when I just have to have quite a few rice cakes and cream cheese which then leads me to eat chocolate. So if I can stop doing that it would be fantastic.
Favourite Cathe workout: Hard to choose, love them all. But I would have to say probably Imax 2

Today I have had:

B: orange
S: banana
The rest of the day will be
L: oats, almonds, pumpkin seeds, sultanas and yoghurt
S: don't know
D: vegies

Have a great day everyone

Kim:)

Good grief. Carola, I am so right there with you and your heating pad. My has been glued to my uterus all day!:)

Shelley, did your trail mix have (squeal) M&M's???:9 Yummy. Hey, don't sweat the trail mix, I feasted on bologna last night.

The rest of the evening will be tricky cause I am grumpy and in pain. There is no telling what I will do.:7 I do have some sugar free Jello pudding cups, chocolate, 60 some calories, little bit of fat, so will attack that in a second.

See you all tomorrow!
