I'm with you Kathryn! I hate ANY term that calls an eating lifestyle a "diet" in any way! I use the recipes from the magazine, but don't have the cookbooks. Not all of the recipes, just the ones that appeal to me! The rest of the time I do follow the basics of the Eat Clean plan, but don't use all of the suggestions. I don't like protein powders for one. I've been on this program for 9 months now and am still going strong! I love the fresh food! I can't imagine how I could eat like I did for so many years! I won't go back!
Hi Autumn!
Pretty much, yes. I try to stay away from white rice, white potatoes, although occasionally I do indulge in some lovely mashed potatoes! I still use white flour on weekends for biscuits or pancakes. My DH didn't care for the wheat ones. Maybe a 50/50 mix? I use buffalo for my red meat (ground). We don't really do steak. Neither of us really cares for it. Chicken, fish, ground turkey/buffalo, and lean pork are our meats. I do use dairy-skim milk, greek yogurt.
Hope this helps! If you haven't already, read The Eat Clean Diet book and just use it as a guide. That's what I did. I'm not as strict as Tosca Reno, but it's so easy to adjust it to meet your needs and tastes and still get great results!
Try barley flour. It's a whole grain flour that substitutes well for white flour (and is slightly sweet, so you might be able to reduce the amount of sweetener used).I still use white flour on weekends for biscuits or pancakes. My DH didn't care for the wheat ones. Maybe a 50/50 mix?
There have been a number of clean eating threads on this forum with lots of really good information. I recommend using the search feature to find them. I'll also take another opportunity to plug my favorite (mostly "clean") cookbooks...
