Clean Eating Challenge Check-In - November 2, 2005

Morning all!

I'm up way too early this morning.

Today:

B - steel cut oats
S - apple and 1/2 English muffin with pb
L - big salad with some protein (boiled egg, some cheese, etc.)
S - cottage cheese and pineapple
D - small piece of grilled salmon and HUGE salad

I'm starving! And I really need to get rid of the Hallowe'en candy;)
 
Good morning Shelley! You're right we are up way too early.

Today:
B-Cottage cheese (1-2%) mixed with Fiber One
2-egg whites, soynut butter, amaranth-o's
3-MetRx shake
4-not sure may eat out and get a chicken breast with a HUGE salad

I'm not starving, but I could use a nap.

Good Morning Shelley,

I have no idea what I'm eating today, but I NEED this thread in the WORSE WAY! My meals have been very good (yesterday: steel cut oats, a huge salad, cottage cheese, baked sweet potato, collard greens , homemade applesauce with splenda) but inbetween meals is a completely different story! In the morning my snack was a protein smoothie but the afternoon and evening was a COMPLETELY different story! I ate candy corn, leftover halloween candy bars, chips and hummus.........snacking is COMPLETELY OUT OF CONTROL!!!!!!
I'm still full and sluggish feeling this morning and that is GROSS!

I'm hoping writing it down for everyone to see will make me snap out of it, or someone will yell at me or something will finally click and get me back to healthy eating reality!!!!!
My workouts are continuing, so I just need to STOP THE INSANITY (remember that?) and stay away from the junk food!!!

I WILL post everything I eat today! Maybe that will be a wake up call.

I committed myself to join this thread today and I am determined to defeat this food monster! I don't quite know what I'm eating today but I can write down my breakfast and then come home to report the rest of todays menu.

Breakfast today I am having oatmeal with less sugar.


And I plan on drinking tons of water today!

I too am up too early! I am not sure what I will eat today but I know I am going to try REALLY hard to get in more water. My mom came out a week and a half ago and I still am not back into the swing of the water...today is a new day! I will drink LOTS!

Alright I am ready to join!:) Didn't know if I could sign myself up yesterday b/c I needed to get groceries.

I am going to workout before I eat breakfast.I just want to get these lbs off fast before christmas soooo my breakfast will probably be eatne around lunch time!:eek:
Heres my day:
KPC and MM
Breakfast/Lunch- Oatmeal or soup and 1/2 snadwich
Go for a walk with a friend
Snack- BFL bar adn piece of fruit
Dinner- meat and salad (not sure what kind of meat)

Work at 6:30 till 8 in the morning so I will have a snack at some point while i am there..
And of course...lots and lots of water!

Here's the plan:

B - cereal w/ light soy milk, banana

L - cup beef mushroom soup, half turkey sandwich, carrots, berry tomatos, grapes

D - Beef burrito pie (too much beef today?), large salad

S - fruit, 1 small piece chocolate or 6 candy corn pumpkins

I think MIL is coming for dinner, so I will probably make some kind of dessert, which I will do my best to avoid

All ready had 40 oz of H20, and will tack on another 20 at both lunch and dinner

Work out will be something aerobic - LoMax or something else steppy

Hey Shelley! Guess who's coming out of lurkerdom to join in the fun cuz this is a GREAT thread. It's very nonthreadening - unlike the "no sugar" thread - which I tried, and failed. Not that that wasn't a good thread - just that I didn't think I could do it!

This one is great for calorie accountability and like you said - to get meal ideas.

So today I'm am eating clean as a whistle to make up for the candy and 3/4ths of the Cathe Cookbook baked pumpkin recipe I ate last night.

B - Oat bran + steel cut oats
S - Apple + tangerine
L - Vegetarian curried lentil soup
S - Yogurt + pear
D - Pumpkin protein shake :9 (My version of a pumpkin spice frappucino! 20 grams of protein!)
S - Toasted WW pita w/ pb

Joni,

Can you tell me how you make your pumpkin shake? I have tried and haven't been completely happy with my version. Am drinking a sweet potato protein shake right now that I added pumpkin spice syrup too and some cinnamon....and it's not bad at all, but I can't get it right with pumpkin!

Slight modification for my day:

B - 1 cup fibre cereal plus banana plus half English muffin with pb
S - steel cut oats with raisins and soy milk
 
I was actually good yesterday. I had a small slip up in eating 4 minature reese's cups, but that was good for me. There is still a lot of candy left to test my will power.

Here's my plan for today:

b - protein shake
s - banana
L - salad with protein
s - celery & peanut butter
d - burger and veggies

Hi Becky,

I don't know what the exact quantities were but I can estimate...

1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder
3/4 c. plain low-fat yogurt
1 c. skim milk
1/2 cup canned pumpkin
1/4 cup splenda (I buy it in bulk!)
pinch each cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, powdered ginger

I blend it together using an immersion blender and toss in a few ice cubes to chill it after blending. I think I might start freezing the pumpkin so the shake is more like an icy milkshake. Yum!

Sometimes I throw a couple tablespoons of flaxseeds in as well. Oh - and it's also good with sugar free maple syrup.

Hey all! Here's my clean eating check in!

B-2 veggie sausages (always have those in the morning:D )
and a slice of whole wheat bread with light PB.
L-Either soup (low cal CHUNKY) with a string cheese sliced into it
or a turkey sandwich with veggies
S-banana with string cheese
D-big salad with different veggies cut into it with light dressing

There's what looking at me for today! ha!:7

Hope everyone is hanging in there after the Halloween candy! ::throw it out, throw it out!:: teehee! Good job everyone!
 
G'mornin everybody,

Today and tomorrow are going to be tough because I'm on the run with lots of things to do. I'll make the best available menu choices when eating out. I had steel cut oats for breakfast again today and plan to have them tomorrow as well because it's so filling and really staves off the hunger attacks. Good luck to all.

I too , by Splenda in bulk and I also think I'll freeze the pumpkin.

So far, so good with eating today

B sweet potato protein smoothie
L whole wheat wrap with turkey, tons of spinach, hummus and artichoke hearts , cottage cheese,apple, iced tea

Not sure yet for dinner, but am thinking egg beaters with spinach and whole wheat toast w/ peanutbutter

S-1 sesame flat cracker w/1 wedge LC cheese, almonds, grapes
L-turkey & tomatoe over spaghetti squash,1/2 pomegranate
S-1/4 cup cottage cheese w/other 1/2 of pomegranate
S-baby carrots with ff yogurt dill dip
D-Salmon over zucchini noodles
S-low fat yogurt w/tbs of whole grain granola

Today is good so far...

1)1 cup kashi go lean with 1/2 cup milk, coffee

2)1 morning star farms tomato basil veggie burger w/1/2 cup l/f cottage cheese

3)4 slices deli turkey, 1 granny smith apple, 1 tblspn natural p/b

Don't know what's yet to come...:)
 
Hi All,

Well I had a few chocolate/pb chips last night. My kids love them also and I do bake quite a bit. Chocolate is my downfall.

1. protein shake
2. scone-coworkers birthday today, eggwhites w/peppers & tomato
3. 4.5oz turkey, apple w/pb
4. chicken breast & salad
5. boca burger & veggies
6. protein shake

I try to drink a gallon of water per day and have been doing great lately.

Boy, this is so neat how everyone checks in to see what the other is
eating... I only ever posted once before. But I find this interesting
how everyone helps everyone. I need to look at this post more often.
I don't think my eating is out of control or anything but it could
use some help. Diana how do you drink a gallon of water a day? I
drink a lot but I think if I did that I'd be running to the bathroom
all the time! I guess your body gets use to it.
