Clean eating and gum/mints

Hi everyone,

I chew a lot of sugarless gum. I was wondering if those of you who try to eat cleanly avoid chewing gum and mints altogether or if anyone has found any "clean" varieties of gum/mints.

Thanks,
Doreen

Health food stores and coops will have gum and mints with natural ingredients. Just be sure to look at the ingredients and choose the ones with the fewest ingredients, and "real" ingredients.

I occasionally use St. Claire's Organics Peppermints --organic molasses granules, organic evaporated cane juice, organic peppermint essential oil--not necessarily 'clean,' because they are mostly sugar, but they are very strong--in a good way--and three pieces are only 5 calories, so they don't make much of a dent in my daily nutrient intake.

It has sugar in it, but the only gum still made with real, non-synthetic gum is Glee. It's made of chicle, which is harvested in rainforests. The gum tastes great, it helps sustain the rainforest, it gives the people of the region a way to make a living, and I like the funky retro package. Here's the website: www.gleegum.com

I chew Extra all the time. I guess I'm addicted to it, but it really doesn't affect anything for me. Mints, every once in a while.

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. I'm going to try to limit my gum consumption and look into those natural alternatives as well.
