Cathlete
I need some help from you wonderful ladies!

I do sooo well for most of the day.
B - oatmeal
S - orange
L - broccoli,pl yogurt with raisins and cinnamin, watermelon\blueberry mix
S- almonds
D - mixed veggies,quinoa, sm piece chicken
S - here's where it falls apart - I can't seem to avoid the tortilla chips, pretzels and other snackies in my house. I have to have them for my kids, so just not buying them is not an option. My resistance seems to be really low this time of the evening. Help?

Lorie, how is your foot? DD's?

Well, Phyllis, I feel your pain! I fall victim to it sometimes too but here are a few things that help me:

Go weigh yourself. Your weight fluctuates higher in the day and seeing yourself weigh 5 lbs more than the morning is enough to scare me out of eating that kind of food.

Ask yourself if you are really hungry. If not don't eat. If you are ask yourself "Is this the healthiest option for me?"

BRUSH YOUR TEETH! Everything tastes nasty after that!

Come up w/ something to tell yourself. One of my personal favorites is "Pain is weakness leaving the body"

I try to remind myself that while that stuff tastes good at the moment it makes me crave more of it later. I just have to omit it completely.

Every time you are tempted to eat something unclean do pushups or jumping jacks or something.

Keep that stuff in the garage so its not as accessible. Harder to sneak out there than in your kitchen.

Post pics all over the inside of your cupboard doors of fit ladies.

Well, I hope some of these things help.

Hopefully my day can remain clean. Breakfast will be the usual Kashi and banana. I wanted a pear today but my DH ate it!!! }(

This morning my daughters have swim class (I have to get in the pool w/ one of them). Then we drive for about an hour to visit my dad in the hospital. He's having open-heart surgery Sat. So good luck to me eating on the road!

Dinner is going to be a pool/pizza party at my in-laws. Im taking fruit and a veggie platter. A good friend is bringing choc. chip cookies. Help me resist!!!!!! Total weakness there. My sis will be there too and we try hard to keep eachother motivated.

OOOH! One other trick is I try to tell myself "Oh, those are stale. They'll be dry and nasty!"

I've kept off 6 lbs the last month and lost another 1 this week. Slow and steady right? It;s hard when you're trying hard and the scale moved slowly.

Last night was Imax 3. I'd forgotten how much I love that one. I didn't have time to do it until 10PM but I at least did the step part (no blasts). It was super fun. Tonight will be Muscle Max. And swim max at the pool. It angers me how so many moms sit by the pool sunning themselves while their kids play and beg for attention. GET IN THE POOL! Your kids will love you for it. Also, I love to think of how many calories I burn while treading water waiting to catch my kids in the deep end. I swear my 3-yo. is going to drown us both jumping onto my head!

TNEAH - BEST LUCK TODAY! We all wish you a speedy recovery!

Well, I guess Ive gone on for a while. Good day to everyone!:D :D :D

Good morning ladies. Sigh, I'm trying yet again.

Phyllis, late afternoon, early evening is my weakest time of day too. Maybe we need to start an Early Evening Help Me Check In.

Kate, those are some great tips. Cathe told me to try doing 10 push ups everytime I get the urge to splurge on something sweet. Best wishes to your dad with his surgery.

B-fast - Kashi with soy milk, banana
Lunch - brown rice with roasted corn salsa, carrots, fruit salad
Snack - cherries, peach
Dinner - shrimp, salad (or corn on the cob if I can stand to heat up the kitchen)
Workout - Gym Style Legs premix

Keep it tidy today and tomarrow will follow (I hope.)

Hi to all,

Kate I'll be thinking of your Dad. My sister had heart surgury last fall. She is doing so well now.

Phyllis I think the evenings are the hardest. I keep reminding myself I want to eat clean. repeat, repeat, etc....

Yesterday went well. I did stray from my plan but it was clean eats.

I am working a lot of evening shifts this week and it is so hard not to pig out when I get home.

b-fast: whole grain cereal,skim, 1/2 banana, 3 egg whites
S: ?
L:?
S:?
D: grilled pork, vegetables or salad
S: apple with 1tbsp of natural PB

My workout this morning was MM upper body and GS legs floor.

Have a clean and tidy day!!

Keep Cool!

Elaine

For me one of the problems is eating truly clean never leaves me feeling satiated, in part because I am not really enjoying what I eat. I'm just not a true fruit and veggie lover (I do love asparagus though!) Yesterday's carrots and pepper strips (I of course at other things including protein as well) left me feeling hungry. I felt better then I had a veggie burger on whole wheat with a slice of swiss cheese and a dab of mayo. I suppose to some that may be appalling but to me it trying to eat "mostly clean" so that I can get the fruits and veggies down my throat. I feel like the only weirdo on the planet who is not wowed by fruits and veggies.

Unlike Phyllis I have been lucky not to have to stock my house with snacks so I don't have those horrible evening temptations.

Today was a crappy day with me in a foul mood so I've been nursing my tea and had popcorn shrimp  and a bit of coleslaw for lunch. I promise to behave this evening but feel free to give me a nuggy.

Thanks for listening!

Hi, All!
You've probably all gone to bed for the evening, but I'm just now getting to check in for the day. Phyllis, I too fall victim to snack attacks, but I have more trouble with the afternoon munchies--you know, an hour or two before dinner, and I'm "starving" so I grab something totally unhealthy usually. I liked Kate's tips above and will try to use some of them. Like you, Beavs, I feel deprived and unsatisfied a lot of times if I eat squeaky clean. I need to change my way of thinking, I guess.
Anyway, today's menu was:
B--scrambled egg whites, wheat toast
S--cherries and an apple
L--lentil soup with rice; fruit
S--(here's where I blew it)--animal crackers:-( (a bunch of them)
D--"cowboy chow" (lowfat sausage, kidney beans, corn, salsa, barbeque sauce, pork and beans all mixed and heated); fruit salad
Workout was Low Max, and I did it the blasts with a five pound dumbbell, like someone on another forum suggested. What a great way to change up the workout and get your heart pumping!! Have a great night, and I'll be back tomorrow.
