Circuit workouts

Hi I am finishing up the GS series this week and I wanted to try something different next week and do some circuit training. I have all 3 of Cathe's HS dvds, and anxious to try them out.

I really don't know how to design a circuit rotation since these are a mixture of cardio and weights.

Would I do these every other day and rest in-between? Or could I do something like Imax 2 in-between??? (I am still learning the choreography of Imax 2 and only know how to do the 1st two so far, so I keep repeating these and on my off days kind of fool around with trying to learn the 3rd set next)

Or in between the High Step dvds would I throw in something like MM?

I just really don't know where to go with these?

I want to build more muscle, but right now I want to try leaning out a bit.

I do have a variety of Cathe's dvd's (many that I haven't used yet) I also have some of Jari Loves and the 30 Day Shred (I haven't used these yet either)

I am open to any ideas or suggestions :)

Hi, this is funny you brought this up since I too have just finished up a GS rotation, and I planned to do some circuit workouts to change things up for awhile. Normally I like to split my weights and cardio, but sometimes you just need a change! Anyway, what I like to do is a Mon.-Wed.-Fri. circuit workout and then I do all cardio in-between (Tues.-Thurs.-Sat.). I try to go as heavy as possible on all the weight segments so I definitely would not do MM or any other weight tape on successive days. So for instance (depending on which dvds you have) you could do something like:
Mon.: Bootcamp
Tues: All cardio of your choice (step, kickbox, cardio machine, etc)
Wed.: High Step Challenge
Thurs.: All cardio again
Fri.: Step, Jump, & Pump
Sat.: All cardio of your choice
I wouldn’t do this rotation for too long since you want to build muscle, but I would consider maybe 4 weeks or so. Then you can go back to focus more on muscle building. Also, if you’re feeling tired, you could put a rest in between the circuit days. It just depends on your own fitness and energy level. I would be careful though not to put an Imax workout too close to a higher impact circuit workout like Bootcamp, for example. Anyway, just try to lift heavy with good form.
I HTH and have fun with the change up!

Thank you Diane,

This helps a lot

That is really funny

Yep, I'm still fairly new to Cathe and I would say I am on the early intermediate level.

I started with Pyramids (loved them) and did those for about 6 weeks and then moved onto GSs and have been doing them for 6 weeks now and I am ready for something different

Anyway, what I like to do is a Mon.-Wed.-Fri. circuit workout and then I do all cardio in-between (Tues.-Thurs.-Sat.).

Ok this is great. I don't have the same dvds as you, but I have plenty I can work with.

I try to go as heavy as possible on all the weight segments so I definitely would not do MM or any other weight tape on successive days.

I don't really know how heavy I can go with a circuit type workout, but plan to push myself, but not too hard.

So for instance (depending on which dvds you have) you could do something like:
Mon.: Bootcamp
Tues: All cardio of your choice (step, kickbox, cardio machine, etc)
Wed.: High Step Challenge
Thurs.: All cardio again
Fri.: Step, Jump, & Pump
Sat.: All cardio of your choice

This is very helpful.

I wouldn’t do this rotation for too long since you want to build muscle, but I would consider maybe 4 weeks or so.

Sounds good to me.

Thank you for the advice
