circuit vs step

Cathe's circuit workouts (especially the hi-low aerobics bits) are so tough. I have been avoiding them for years, but wanting something different to do this morning, I did circuit max just now. It took so much more out of me than doing any of the step ones I do (except for Imax3). It felt good to get through it though.

I wondered if there are people out there who prefer circuit over step, or are most like me and experience severe dread when contemplating such a workout.

I'm sooooo excited for the new vids. Needless to say, I held of on ordering drill max.

Actually, a circuit workout (which intersperses cardio segments and weighted segments) can use step as one of its cardio formats or its only cardio format (as in the power circuit segments of Body Max 1 and the upcoming Body Max 2, as well as the "Power Circuit" workout from CTX, and Circuit Max).

That said, I like both. If I do step, or any straight cardio format exclusively, I get too efficient at it; then when I do a circuit routine I'm gasping. The reverse is also true: if I do a lot of circuit-style workouts exclusively, the next time I do a straight cardio routine of any kind I gasp once again.

That's the beauty of being a Cathe fan. No matter what you do, there's always an opportunity to gasp.

I like Cardio & Weights and find I'm falling in love with Cathe's high step circuit workouts.

I am not a fan of Cathe's hi/lo aerobics. Watching her do it only reaffirms her status as a fitness goddess in my mind, but I can't keep up. I simply prefer step.

Hi Linda, no you aren't the only one who feels that way with circuit-max. I haven't done it in a while and also tried it the other morning. I just didn't have enough energy - it is VERY fast. I also find Imax3 to be tough. But leave these for days you feel you can meet the challenge, or even just modify it to what you can do. You'll feel so much better. I'm sure you know that.

I also preordered ALL of the dvds. You and I think alike!! I didn't want to order drill max either. I said no way, then I saw that you can get all the dvds for $80, so I figured why not...

Besides, the DVDs are a great deal since you can customize your workouts so many ways. Variety is the key for me!

I haven't posted in quite a while, lurk mostly, but I thought your post fit me perfectly! Enjoy the workouts - I should get mine today!!!
