circuit max question

Michele S

Cathlete
I haven't done this workout yet because I'm not sure where to throw it in. I've been trying to do the CTX strength portions twice a week (including Leaner Legs...ugh!) and doing a lot of cardio work, too, and was wondering if I should put a
non-strength day before doing Circuit Max.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Michele

Hi Michele!

I have the same question. I MISS doing that tape but I am doing a rotation of the body parts from the CTX series 2x/week also. I'm with you on LL-2X! Whew!! I didn't know if it would be too much also to try to incorporate CM. I know it will definetly be in my next rotation.Your-Friend-In-Fitness, DebbieH :)

RE: Hi Michele!

Eeek!

Maybe I'm just wimpy, but the only time I did Circuit Max during my CTX rotation (I too tried to hit the body parts twice a week) is when I missed a few days due to illness, then had one day to workout before going away for the weekend. So I had rest on both sides.

I think I've heard other people say they've done it after a heavy weight workout but with really light weights, or vice versa...but then again I could be totally confusing it with something else!

Hope you get more answers,
Sophie

I can't speak for Cathe, but I have always read and heard that you should put a rest day or a non-strength training day before you do a circuit workout. I think even doing Power Circuit or Leaner Legs the day before would be too much, and especially any upper body weight training would be.

Try just doing a longer than usual cardio day the day before, maybe longer than the CTX cardio but not as high intensity. Then you add some good muscle confusion into the mix too.

I myself have a new rotation starting this Monday after doing the 6 day a week CTX rotation for 4 weeks. My new rotation will be (just to give you food for thought):

Mon- MIS
Tues- Powermax
Wed- Interval Max
Thurs- MIS
Fri- MIC
Sat- Circuit Max

That way I have all completely new workouts for my body to react to and I'm training each body part 2 times per week for stregth, I'm getting some upper body endurance training once, interval training once and some cardio that is completely different from what I got used to with CTX.

Does that answer your question at all? I hope it helps, at least. Again, I don't know what Cathe would tell you, but you do want to give your muscles adequate recovery time, otherswise the workouts become counter-productive. But I know the feeling, it's like you enjoy them all and want to do them all but you can't all at once. Believe me, I know!

Take care

Hi Michele! Yes, for best results, do Circuit Max the day after a non strength training day. If at all possible, do not do strength training the day after Circuit Max either. But if that is not possible, then you can work your back or chest on those CM follow up days, since they are very lightly tapped on in the workout. Have fun!
