Christmas gifts

What did everyone get for Christmas? What did you give?

I got a new cranberry red jacket with soft gray lining, a soft electric throw blanket in black with a beautiful white pattern, my parents paid for my skin treatment lotions/soaps (pretty penny, silly eczema, sheesh.) and they helped me get financing for my new (new to me) Honda Fit. I am loving the electric throw. It feels sooo good on my skin. Its not as hot as a hot pad, so I don't get over heated, but it just takes the edge off the cold.

I bought a DVD player for my Mom/Dad and a mattress pad for my brother. Its not too expensive, got it at Wal Mart because I have one just like it that feels soooo good. I have a cheap mattress but with the cool gel mattress pad, its like a new mattress. I don't get too hot.

Pink boxing gloves!!! A new tennis racket!!! Nice exercise tops/sports bra. Smart hubby! My daughter got me the "Master chef" cookbook. I am going to hit the after Christmas and new year sales to get a new barbell set and sneakers too. I got some other stuff too but these are my faves!

I bought myself the most amazing pair of boots, cost a pretty penny, but I am tired of never receiving anything at all from my husband, so I took care of matters for myself. I buy fabulous presents. Damn!

My best Xmas present was, however:
-- knowing via my mother, that my father, suffering from dementia and recently moved into a home, is doing well there and seems happy;
--that my mother too is happier and feeling better as a result of less stress;
--that my eldest daughter received As in all her semester grades at her first semester as freshman at the University of Michigan;
--and that my youngest has been accepted by the college of Wooster, OH, with a $20K per year scholarship.

Sigh. Thank heavens. A few burdens have been lifted. Onto the New Year.......and new battles to fight!

A heavy bag!!! Woo!!! Jab, jab, cross!!!! Had to toss in an an extra Christmas day workout to play with it! Also a Stick, to get out the running aches and pains, a couple books, new socks (I LOVE new socks, no joke :p:D:D), a sweater, 2 pairs of boots, a cool skull head wallet, a pretty bracelet, doggie print potholders, and a partridge in a pear tree!

My favorite gifts that I gave? An old car hubcap turned into a clock for my rockability cousin in law, three hermit crabs for my son, a seed of the month club subscription for my hunny. He's a gardener.

spyrosmom...I love wool socks of all types!

I got a Garmin Edge and 45 North Pogies for my fatbike (those are enclosures for your hands when its very very cold). Actually, my fatbike was a Christmas gift from 2012, I hope the pics show up. A couple of Athleta gift cards and various technical clothing like *socks* and wool liners. I also got a pair of Minnesota Wild Hockey Tickets.

I gave a Kindle Fire HDX, a ton of gift cards which were begged for, bike and computer related stuff too. My best gifts though were taking my son (who is back again from deployment one last time) to dinner and a couple of great music venues downtown.

maddiesmum... I have the same husband!

Dirtdiva:

nice to meet you in your pictures, hi!

You have a winter wonderland to be sure: days like that, with clear skies, make winter beautiful. I'm almooooooooost jealous!

So, since we share husbands: what did you get yourself?!!?

Sometimes, you have to look after yourself. Yes indeed.

I know what you mean about taking your son out and treating him. I took my two girls to see Pink in concert in March and we had a blast: pure fun with people I love.

Health and happiness to you and your son in the New Year. You are my inspiration. I love to know what Dirtdiva is up to, what your fave premixes are......

Clare, you are so sweet! And yup, we have to look after ourselves and I've learned that its not being selfish either. My Christmas gift to myself was a custom built frame. I ordered the frame in March (my birthday) and it took till the summer to complete. I'm still hearing it from my husband that I will not get another gift from him for at least 3 years. It was SO worth it!

Ok...my DH, who is a wonderful man btw, got me a huge bummer! He got me a Nono hair remover because when we were in Nordstroms I pointed to a Clairisonic and he thought it was a Nono. Or whatever the heck they are called...it is going back ASAP...:(

I really felt bad for him because I know he wanted to please me!

I'm feeling your disappointment...but dang its funny at the same time. I still think you should get the Clarisonic though. I really love mine, its the only thing that get all the sunscreen and gunk out of my skin.
