Christi Taylor - Fantastic Four

Hi All,

I just dusted off my copy of the above. Usually when I try other instructors other than Cathe I am disappointed. I love Cathe's Step workouts, but what can you tell me about Still Steppin and Step Heaven? Would someone who loves Cathe love these? Do they get your heartrate up there like some of Cathe's toughest ones?

Thanks in advance for your help!

You'll need to get used to Christi's style but her cuing is supurb and her music is absolutely the best. Her choreo is more complex but quite doable after two to three times thru. Fantastic Four is the first of hers I bought. I ended up liking it so much I've added Humble Beginnings, Cardio Collectibles, Totally Cool Step, and Solid Gold Step to my library. I use them all regularly (in fact did a mish mosh of Solid Gold Step and Cardio Collectibles this morning).

I've owned some of her other titles that I haven't been too wild about like Stepsational, Funktional Fitness and one other I cant remember the name of. I've since gotten rid of them.

As far as heartrate I would put the two Fantastic Four step workouts on par with Step Blast.

By the way, for those other Christi fans who might read this, I got an email from Christi's website the other day and she's starting filming a new hi-lo DVD workout in May.

Hey truton,

I got that e-mail from Christi too. If you ever go to her website, I've have been on her the last few months to let us know if she has anything solid yet as far as workouts and then I finally got that e-mail. I am so excited. I really hope it is good and more along the lines of her older stuff. I don't have any of the ones you said you didn't care for because of a lot of bad reviews she got, but her older stuff is great.

tygra,

I love Christi's DVD's. They are no where the intensity of Cathe's, but like truton said, they are more complex choreography wise. I have Humble Beginnings, Totally Cool Step, Totally Hot Cardio, Solid Gold Cardio, Solid Gold Step, and Fantastic Four. I just did Solid Gold Cardio this morning. I like to do her tapes on days that I don't want to go all out and killing myself and just want to have fun and sing (love her music, so fun!)and stuff. But they are complex so your brain will be working a lot too!

Fantastic Four is ALL great -- Step and HiLo Heaven and Still Jumpin/Steppin. I think HiLo Heaven is THE perfect cardio workout, and the others are right up there too.

They are complex, but you can learn a section at a time. The first section is always easier! So, you might want to start with the first section of Step Heaven followed by the first section of Still Steppin. The second section is more complex on both, but once you have it, you love it and feel pretty accomplished.

I usually choose Christi when I need to do something fun and intense. She doesn't have ultra-high impact moves, so she is kind to my 57 year old knees, and give me an excellent, fun aerobic workout.

Cathe is my favorite for circuit and strength work, and I enjoy doing her older step workouts too. Although Low Max is probably on my all-time top 5! And I love the step premix from LIC.

I hope you can find room on your shelf for both Christi and Cathe! They are awesome.

I bought it.
I tried it.
I hated it.
I sold it.

I love Cathe but personally did not care for Christi at all...

JMHO, ofcourse!:)

MHO as well!
I gave up on Christi about 20 minutes into a workout that was way too dancy for my tastes. I don't see how Collage rates both Cathe and Christi as "complex" choreo. I can pick up most of Cathe's workout with one preview and a run through, but I didn't have the patience to give Christi more of a chance.

For me, a workout should work the body more than the mind (I get the latter elsewhere) and I don't want to sprain a dendrite trying to figure out complex moves.

Cathe and Christi have a different style (IMO, a different complexity level), a different way of cuing. So whether someone who likes Christi would like Cathe is really an individual thing (some do, some don't , I don't).

I do, however, like her personality: one of those instructors--- like Cathe, Amy Bento, Kelly Coffey---you'd like to invite over and hang out with. And I really wanted to like her workout because of it.

I gave my copy away. I could not get into it; the background exercisers, the set. I thought she was a good instructor but it was way to complicated for me.
